I agree...another boring jazz bass...er.....wow
Does anyone know where I can get a 2 octave fretless neck jazz bass dimensions...I'm planning to put together a bass out of parts.
Any help would be gratefully received.
Wow!...well done , which one did you go for , the 5.. Or the 4?.....
It took me ages , cos I couldn't afford a new one...I was looking for a secondhand one....just sayin' :-)
Up to the top.
So many people saying nice things about this tremendous bass..but no offers to buy.....just try finding another.......you won't......don't miss this opportunity. Loads of people who whinge about back/ shoulder problems...concerned about heavy basses...then this one comes along weighs nothing... Less than 5 lbs...all carbon..killer tone....and no takers sheeeesh.
If was a crap jazz bass in " candy apple red" ...........
I've just done a pro set up on my harley benton 6 er.....and retuned it to E-E tuning...been wanting to do it for a while.
I'm well chuffed..it plays like butter...sounds fab....and I don't have to re visualise the fingerboard...as I also play g****r.
Happy bunny.
I'm now looking for another harley to do a fretless version.
The 6 ers have now been discontinued ...pity, they're great basses..I'm a fan.
Wicked thread..love Franks music. Some his solos on his lendary SG are my all time faves...his solos seem to have so much WEIGHT!!... I'm thinking Zomby Woof/ Montana on Overnite Sensation...totally kills.
The thing is I suppose it depends if you play 1 finger per fret....34" is just about ok.....but anything more especially when playing fast passages in the first position..is too much for me.
I agree with much that has been written about some of his more suspect albums.
BUT..I will always remember hearing him for the first time on "Romantic Warrior".... In 1976 !! My ears COULD NOT BELIEVE what they were hearing..I never even dreamt that bass could be played awesomely!! I felt sick to my stomach and gave up playing for 2 weeks!!...thinking " there's just no point..I'll never be able to play that good".... I thought I was getting good ( after only playing for 2 years!)....just because I could play some Jack Bruce licks!! ( he was the ultimate to me at that time).
I love the sound of his bass on all those 70 s albums.....an awesome player who has inspired so many bassists for years.
