1. Oops. Need a change of underwear.
2. I cant find it either. Marshall used to do a stereo valve power amp but it was aimed at guitarists and was 50w per side. The Aguilar is not made any more but I think Mesa do one - I think Kiwi or Ped had one. Other than that look out for old marshal or hiwatt slave amps as they were called at the time - rare as rocking horse sh*t mind.
3. Are you gonna post your gigs up Mark - perhaps BIYF could go along and watch? Unfortunately the Ferrets play British Legions and such that are not open to non-members.
4. This came up quite recently. Use the search facility and you never know, you might find it.
5. Try and join a band. The material they do will dictate what you should learn. There are always bands looking for bass players - even if you dont get the gig straight away the experience of doing the auditions, learning the songs and playing with others will be worth much more than learning new songs just to play by yourself.
6. You are not having much luck are you.
7.
TI jazz flats are lovely .. but I certainly wouldn't describe them as dark or dead sounding ..... In fact I've spent 25 trying to avoid strings that sound dark and dead lol
Its a reflex action to the word flat. Before they can stop themselves they have posted TI Jazz without reading the rest of the post
8. Then of course there is Keane, who dont have a bass player but you can hear it. I used to play spot the bass player when I saw them on the telly and he was usually standing in the shadows somewhere; but I could not see him at all last time so he was either backstage with a monitor or pre-recorded/sequenced.
9.
Schroeder alternative ? IMHO there isn't any ... sorry
Course there are - although whether they float your boat without the mid hump is another matter.
10. This idea gets floated from time to time and the general consesus is dont. The only PA speakers that can handle bass are ones designed to reproduce a fully miked/Di'd band and that needs big speakers and lots of watts. Ashdown used to do some PA style cabs they made for the Ox. Using BFM designs is the other obvious suggestion.
11. This sounds like a job for OBBM.
12. Peavey have always done a range of combo's. It usually had a TKO model at the bottom, TNT in the middle and Combo at the top - with various power ratings attached. Currently all models are called 115 but the last interation was 75, 150 and 300. See here The current series of amp heads (except Pro 2000) dont have x-overs but the old T-max and Firebass did. There is a t-max 2x10 on fleabay for £200 and there have been a couple of other T-max heads recently.
13. There are a number of discussions regarding flats here
14. You cant have the TNT150 and the combo 300 - they are different models and it helps if you know what you have. If you have the combo 300 you will have to go amp/cab. If you have the TNT150 get the comb0 300.

Weddings

Weddings require a level of tact and diplomacy that the Ferrets lack so we dont usually do them unless someone begs. It is too much like work but as others have said - it pays well. It is usual to start with a slow dance for the bride and groom - make sure you have one that is NOT about breaking up! Lights can be a real asset to pub bands cos most dont have them and most pubs dont have any either. The bands with lights will always be perceived to be better. There was a good thread about lights on Bassworld and I think it got copied over but you may have to look hard to find it unless it was pinned.

Weddings
A Wedding set list is make or break i think, i know a local band who were are asked to leave half way through their set because they just did'nt go down at all. but you say they are'nt a typical couple so maybe there guests are'nt either, tough one. A wedding band has to have a pretty big set list to cover any eventuality from Motown to pop ballads to rocknroll, i suppose her'e a typical wedding set list by a band i know.
Pass the bucket
17. There is a T-max in for sale and also an EBS 15F. That might do it. Cant remember if the t-max has the bi-amp mind.
18. GK bi amp facility has power to both and only works with GK cabs than can power the woofers and tweeters seperately.
19. Get a bigger Peavey. The Combo 115 is 200 watts internal - 300 watts with extension. Noy many integrated amps or combo's have built in crossovers. Old Git is selling a BAM but I dont know if it has x-over.
20. Not for Mwah. Generally flats and nylons give more of an upright sound. Mwah is the sound of rounds or half rounds on a fretless although some flats do it as well (e.g. TI Jazz). As its a cheapish bass and probably not the hardest fingerboard I would try Status Hotwire halfs, I love em.
21. Most of its already been covered but late era Temptations was seriously funky and so is lots of Stevie Wonder. I cant believe no one has mentioned James Brown - too obvious maybe. Have you got horns? I've often thought function bands with horns can get a bit dull doing the stax/motown etc to death and really should do 5:15 just to show they can rock.
22. Where have you been man? 4 tall 1 wide. Something to do with off axis and comb filtering
23. Cant find the place I used before. Try some of these
24. The Ashdown Superfly has a stereo power stage that puts out 2x250watts into 4 ohms. So to get the most out of it with 2 cabs they have to be 4 ohms.
25. Might be worth trying some auralex or a gramma on those wooden stages.
