I deal with Graham direct.

Ditto, known him since Broadway Music days when he refinished the Shergold and a top chap. It's just easier to send wifey to D&S - she knows where that is
I can just imagine trying to give directions to Gahams - plus parking can be a challenge. Very fond memories of Broadway Music. I used to get to try everything that came in - and when I say try I mean gig if I wanted to. Shame it all went up Barries nose.
2. I do have pedals but only a pre-amp and tuner - does that count?
3. What he said - if the action is too high you dont get the Mwah. It cound also be the strings or the bass itself. So first get it set up and if that does not work change the strings - there is a big thread pinned about strings for fretless. The only way I dont get mwah on my GB is playing open strings - but it did cost rather more than yours.
4.
You may have seen elsewhere my rant about kids nicking my tools that came up when I put on a new set of Elixirs a couple of night ago, but otherwise good. Quiet r/h with it last night and wifey should be taking it over to Graham at Drum & Strum today for a quick set up with new strings, detuned etc to get me started Al Sorry all this is off topic really
I deal with Graham direct. His number is in the recommended luthiers list.
5. There used to be engineering factors that sell this kind of stuff, many years ago I replaced all the screws on an ibanez bridge cos they were too long a stuck out of the saddles.
6. Well dont forget that kick drum, more so when miked up, can completely shag your bass sound if you aint careful. Went to see Silverfox Nik on saturday and his bass sounded really wooley but it was not the bass - it was the kick drum that was much too loud in the mix and combined with the bass to produce a sonic clusterf***. Got the kick turned down and the bass was much much better (apart from his blown speaker )
7. SPL is not punch - it is volume (Sound Pressure Level). What about getting a drummer and thin string along as well - or play some drum/keys/guitar tracks through a PA. Plus a wireless so you can move around the sound.
8.
but going for a song!!
True - and its not that much heavier than my Neo.

11. Its been done - maybe back on BassWorld - and I cant be arsed to look for it. Ox/Moon is still my favourite. With Moon attempting to play melodies on the drums and the Ox not being satisfied with Root Fifth it should have been a complete clusterf*** but it works because they were both so good. Jones/Bonhom. Again it was Bonhoms drumming that allowed JPJ to be so funky. Jamerson/Benjamin - no more needs to be said. Sly/Robbie. You immediately know its them.
12. Be fair to Gypsymoth this is probably frustration talking because it is all the sticky that a lot of time and effort was put into, with pictures and everything, so any idiont can read it and know all about watts and ohms but no bugger ever looks at it.
13. Dont forget that double the watts does not double volume - you need 10 times for that.
14.
The input impedance is 8 ohms, so is this right....if I had another cab at 8ohms 400 watts Rms would this then become 4 ohms? Thanks for the info by the way.
Provided they were wired in parallel then yes. Read the sticky! Power handling and impedence are unrelated. Most cabs are 8 ohms whether they can handle 10 watts or 1000 watts, you just would not use an amp rated at 1000 watts into 8 ohms with a 10 watt cab unless you were doing it for kicks.
15. Does it come with a truss?
16. Never heard of 'em. Its a crowded market.

18. Well Jamerson only used one finger. Anything that feels unnatural is probably gonna hurt in the long term. Are you raking? That is playing more than one string - in the pattern in your post there is no reason why you should not play the first two with one finger as having played the first note the finger will be in position to play then next on the D string.
19.
Playing at home man, I've been working on myself since I quit the last band I was in a good 8 or months ago now, it's paid off but as ARGH said I think I am needing something else to muck around with, thats not to say I know everything to do on 4 strings far from it, but it would be nice to have the extra range to noodle with and lately I've been watching loads of 6 string gospel players, all playing Ken Smith 6 strings and seeing Kiwi's may have sparked something.
Well if you want to nick CK's gig I guess you are gonna have to get a Smith 6. Its a long way from Somerset mind. I would be inclined to try and join some other musicians again.
20.
Are you gigging? If not get a gig and worry about wasting time on extra strings later.

i want to learn to play a 6 string, whats wrong with that? more importantly, whats that got to do with gigging
I'll take that as a no then. Musicians play with other people, playing with yourself is called masturbation. I think learning how to play with other people is much more important than learning to play with extra strings. However, these days with You Tube masturbators can reach audiences of millions and i've even heard of them getting endorsements etc.

22. I use the Hercules ones myself.
23. You may be right - I thought Don Was played bass on this but the CD also credits Macrus Miller, Neil Steubenhaus and JP but does not say which tracks.
24. Great band (apart fromthe singer mixing up Gloria and Whole Lotta Rosie!) and a good night out.
25. Just think how much of bargain your bass was. There is no quarantee these will actually work either.
