1. OK Loz I stand corrected - but there are still the warranty and support issues, but if there is no UK support anyway thats not such an issue. There are not many amps out there that pump 750 watts into 4 ohms, lots like the EBS only give full beans into 2 ohms. If you need that sort of power in one box the list is few.
2.
After reading the blinding reviews on BGRA I was gonna buy one of these. Alex at the Gallery has one on order, and its mine if I want it. Not sure now!!! What am I gonna buy instead?!!! Cheers Ian
I would not be bovvered - you are getting a new UK spec amp that is also covered by the sale of goods act, the original waranty and the Gallery's reputation.
3. There are quite a few retailers stocking Aguilar stuff now but you did not buy it from them so its not their problem. Moral of the story - dont buy from the US.
4.
Hey chris I was having a few thoughts about my sound awhile ago. The ACG really has alot of clarity and beautiful almost fretless top due to the pre-amp and after trying the bass through a few different amps I thought the markbass was abit lacking in top and clarity even though it has alot and does give everything else a run for its money.
The reason why Bernie also distributes EBS is because he found it is the stuff that works best with his basses and it was not available in the UK. There is a synergy between basses amps and cabs and conversely some basses sound sh*t with some gear. Thats why so many people just use Fender into Ampeg - they know it works. The more exotic the bass and amplifier the more difficult it is to match them.
5. Hmm.. Your two 102 cabs are likely to have different sounds because of cabinet volume and front and rear porting. Do you prefer one or the other. The solution might be to get 2 cabs the same. Other than that, I'm rather keen on EBS myself.
6.
These arrived today. He's finished spraying and has to let the body cure for a week before he puts the bass together. Sadly, that will be too late for the South East bass bash. Cheers Mark
That will give us an excuse to have another bash - simply stunning!
7. Nice bass Kev B, but an SBK is in a different league to a factory fender case

9. I'd be tempted to stretch the budget a bit and make Ian an offer for his GB (I am biased)
10. There have been a few outboard pre-amps for sale lately.
11. On a cheap bass - you have not said what the bass is - dont ruke out the bridge being in the wrong place or crooked.
12. He does have some sort of deal with the Status Vintage.
13. Hey Chris - dont tell me you have pulled Kylie and Danni's mum, I'd make that an early 70's!
14. Afraid I'm not goona be able to make it - real shame.
15. +1 for Doods advice on ultralight tuners - They are not cheap but I dont know why up market basses would use anything else. And dont use one of those big heavy headstock clamps
16. Probably - but basses have been known to have the bridge in the wrong place.
17. Dont forget maple boards are usually laquered which is why you should not use oil - it cant soak in.
18. Have you asked Ashdown?
19. the bassline is the song
20. If you want rounds I believe Galli make the strings Bernie puts on his basses.
21. The usual suspects - stringbusters only have the flats and I cant find the others.
22.
I'm pretty sure that early status and strata basses used KA pups (humbuckers). They all sound great. Wil
Bet you a pound to a pinch of sh*t that Status pups are made by Aaron.
23. Take it all for PAT Testing. Get a tester that plugs into your sockets (couple of quid from B&Q). I would be very surprised if any of that lot does not have a moulded plug.
