1. Dont get hung up by all those guys banging on about their three and four finger playing - most of us only use two. Try using your fingers at band practice, or practice standing up - goofy I know but hope no one sees you. Sit down on a stool or dining chair to practice and try not to slouch. Oh and take your hands out of your pockets
2. Start with one finger - it worked for Jamerson.
3. Ah - I see. As already mentioned the thicker the pick the lesser the click. Also, try adjusting your strap length so the bass is in the same position sitting down as standing up. Warning - you might end up looking a bit Mark King though
4. I would say the instruments do have their own tone as a result of the pups and circuit - same as an Alemic or Wal. If you dont like that sound then you wont like it. Lots of the other custom builders featured in these pages also now use their own pups and actives - lets face it if they all used EMG's then they would all sound the same. One of my GB's has not got the pups and curcuit because I wanted a different sound. I use both of mine flat and use the actives to vary the tone depending on the song.
5. Cabs designed for bass guitar (or eub) are designed for bass guitar. Cabs designed for PA (particularly low end of the market not designed to take a fully mike'd or DI'd band) are not designed for bass guitar. The Ox used cabs using PA design principles like folded horn bass bins, acitve crossovers etc but they were a lot more than £300 a pair.
6. Hi There - you might be interested in the bash at Guildford.
7. It went very quick for £400
8.
Did a gig on Sat with the 1.9mm Claytons and i was quite surprised how well they worked. Still not sure its anywhere near a finger sound but certainly helped me get nearer. Im going to order some lighter ones as well and see what i prefer.
Shirley (dont call me Shirly) the point of using a pick is to get a different sound. OK I use mine cos my fingers get sore and swell up because of a skin complaint but I do use my fingers for some songs where a pick just aint right. Get more mwah from the fretless with my piggies as well. Its very difficult to get the sound of a pick with fingers.
9. I presume the muppet that did the refin also took off the DC knobs. Lovely find - well done.
10. Filth!
11. Mine (and possibly others) are here. I treat them just like my other basses and gig with them regularly. If you are gonna get hung up on how much they cost then its probably best not to get one, there have been a few on here that have spent so much money on basses they are scared to take them out and end up selling. Other than that they play and sound great. I had mine specifically built to be light weight and they are. Ian is trying to sell a Spitfire at the moment.

13. I think there is a world of difference between Turbosound gear and this stuff.
14. Status do double bass sets.
15. Why not get a couple of 1x15 bass cabs if thats what you want. Have you seen the sensitivity of those ones on e-bay.
16. Mr Big - Free Alright Now - Free; the bass line is an integral part of the solo. Almost all Free songs have a strong melodic bass line that contributes massively to the feel of the song. The Seeker - The Who The Real Me - The Who intro to My Girl - Temptations; Igor and Robert White intro to Whats Going On - nuff said
17. What a spanking job!
18.
im curious why do ebs cabs cost so so much more than normal cabs?
Depends what they are compared to. You could say the same about most high end gear and thats what they are. About the same price as Epi UL's etc.
19. Most people are left or right handed. I guess the acid test is which hand do you masturbate with?
20. That Overwater is pure filth! Good luck with the sale. There is/was an Alembic MK in the for sale.
21. There is no reason playing with a pick should sound unbalanced apart from bad technique. Practice more.
That's beyond me.. Do you mean when searching for bass info or brands and bc pops up? You see them on all manor of specific subs - It's funny seeing '*guests viewing this topic' on this thread. *Hello guest*
Thats how most of us found bassworld in the first place - every time I looked for something on the interweb BassWorld came up.

24. not being funny - but as I said your combo is a 2x10 cab with a sleeve. The speakers are exactly the same and IIRC the cab size is the same so if it can handle 350 watts divideded by one then it can handle 500 watts divided by 2, or 250 per cab.
