1. Not being funny - but I've just been watching yesterdays Wembly gig and very few of the bass players there had more than 500 watts. At the volume you expect for 500 watts you will have to mike the drums so you may as well go through the PA as well.
2.
Get it from Woolies - £5 posted. http://www.woolworths.co.uk/web/jsp/produc...sp?pid=50595972
Bugger - cost me £13 from Amazon.
3. Looks like its unstuck. Have a go with the search - I copied all the sh*t from bassworld. If you find it - get the mods to pin it.
4.
He said to me when he gave it to me that it needs light strings as the neck has a tendency to bend if the strings are too heavy!
Presume he did not know what a truss rod is for. Think there is a sticky posted on this very subject.
5. Nice - whats with the funny little scratch plate?
6. Er - No. You can only one run cab or two in series. There is a sticky that explains all about impedence.
7. Anyway getting back on topic - transparency is having an amp that does not impose its own sound on the sound of your bass. If you use different basses on stage you want to hear different basses - not have everything sounding the same. I use an EBS HD350 and whilst I wont claim it is as transparent as going straight into a desk, I can clearly hear the different sound of my basses.
8. Are you guys coming to the bash at Guildford?
9. I've said it before and i'm frankly getting a bit fed up with explaining basic economics to people. Everything is expensive in the UK because everything is expensive, and there is no special dispensation for music retailers. Property in the UK is expensive - whether its a high street shop or a distributers warehouse. Taxes are expensive. Employment costs (not just wages) are expensive. Fuel is expensive. All of this has to be paid for in the retail price.
10. There is an ad for this in the latest BGM. I must confess to being put off by the name.
11. Yes it is a 60's copy. Still a good buy though.
12. Pete Townsend, Roger Daltry, Keith Moon, John Entwistle.
13.
The youtube clip is part of a DVD entitled 'Marvin Gaye. The RealThing. In Performance 1964-1981' The DVD is a must for all Motown and Marvin fans and of course those who want to hear a good dose of Jamerson.
Amazon only have 4 left now.
14. Nice job. Did you consider hipshot ultralight tuners? Look like ears from the front but much smaller at the back.
15.
The Who - John Entwistle. Comment superflous.
Indeed!
16.
A skeptic might say that's only done to minimize costs/maximize profits. By building a 4x10 or 2x12 or 1x15 from the same box, changing only the baffle to suit the configuration, rather then purpose designing every configuration for the best possible performance, considerable savings may be realized. Not that I'm a skeptic...
You old cynic. Probably right though.
17.
Hey Luke, I think that's the least of his worries! ARGH has no head!
That can't be ARGH - he's only got 4 strings
18. You might be interested in the SE bash at Guildford - 18th August.
19. Not used any of the gear you are asking about but I know a lot of guys on here dont rate Ashdown Mags. Remember that a lot of combos dont put out their rated power unless an extension is used.
20. Another 2x12 user here. I love mine but it is the same size as a 4x10. Most are because cab manufacturers make all their cabs so they can be stacked in any combination. So the EBS 2x10, 2x12, 1x15 and 4x10 all have the same footprint. The 2x10 can be put on its side though as recommended by the cab gurus. I use an EBS 1x12 and 1x10 mini stack where space is tight but it does not really save that much and does not sound as good when pushed. Here they are together. Genz Benz do a 2x12 that is vertically arranged and has a smaller footprint.
21. EBS is rubbish - you would not catch me using it
22.
anyone know were i can get one of these ? there is an american ebay seller with 'em but i'd rather buy from a uk seller. cheers.
Have you tried google?
