1. Looks like a quality instrument. Looks can be deceiving mind. The headstock veneer and what looks like an inlaid name does not look cheap.
2. I was lucky to be there the last time the Who played in Swansea. If the Ox had been there they would never have got away with only tripping the power three times.
3. This legislation is cause for concern. It was in the news this week with the last night of the proms being too loud with all those people singing Land Of Hope And Glory. It could see the return of the dreaded volume cut outs! For the younger members these were very popular at lots of venues and had an orange light that came on if the volume was too loud and the power cut out if the light stayed on for too long. At some venues a rimshot on the drums was enough to cut the power and I cut the power at one venue tuning up with harmonics.
4. Get some ear plugs!
5. Ian has got a GB Spitfire 4 that he is looking to trade for a 5.
6. Intonation is checked by comparing the fretted note to the harmonic and if the intonation is out then it will affect the fretted note not the harmonic.
7. Oops - didn't realise the fuss caused by a throwaway remark. Apologies all round and post deleted. Shame about all the quotes though.
8. Spot on Mike, be yourself.
9. Well I have 2 almost identical basses, one top loaded and one strung through. Can't say I've noticed any difference.
10. Those jazz basses look interesting. Ian is selling a GB Spitfire for £800 and FunkMonky an Overwater Jazz for a grand.
11.
Heh, I must have repressed that. I know him for his fingerstyle funk. - He's one of the best in my opinion as well. "Bootsy is one of the kings of funk. His approach is minimal, not flashy, but he knows how to add just the right emphasis to make people move." -Wheat on Bootsy's playing with James Brown on the JB CD.
Obviously a quote from before Bootsy discovered "space bass"
12. I've got a KSD. Its not embarrassed keeping company with 2 GB's.
13.
Mesmerising......... Great technique!

just remember why I liked that video... the black tops went translucent with the strong lights...
Ah, the late great Robert Palmer. Been listening to Pressure Drop with none other than James Jamerson on bass.
14. Dont get me wrong - it looks like a nice bass its just not worth loads of money in a fickle world. How do you not get on with through necks? I used a through neck Ibanez Musician for years along with various bolt on's and never really thought about it.
15. Dont know what you have been watching or listening to, but I have not noticed much of a slap comeback. But then footless tights are back in fashion so who knows................
16. The Guitar Emporium was importing Jap Fenders and offering discounts to bass worlders - probably never made the jump over here.
17. I got a cab from sh*tty-link and they had dropped it so hard that one of the drivers was so mucked up the cone would not move! Nuff Said.
18. What a load of fuss about nothing.
19. Good post Homer. That is fabulous playing that many of us could never achieve. Does not stop me enjoying my gigs and at least the coming home smelling of fags will stop soon.
20. YGWYPF
21. Well not really a jazz and not really pink but close enough.
22. Well it wont hurt to copy the first post to the for sale section - you never know. For someone with only £300 to spend it would be a good bass.
23. There was something on BassTalk - better get over there before it disappears.
24. I think you are spot on BJ. When ever I value something unless its particularly esoteric or in demand I usually start at half the cost new. 14 weeks - you lucky lucky................... I had to wait nearly a year for one of my GB's.
25. Sorry to here you have problems - you dont seem to have had much luck lately. Thats the problem with getting stuff from abroad. When I had a problem with my EBS Neo 2x12 I took it back to Bernie and it was fixed.
