Surely you can check the different outputs using your amp? It is a common mistake to assume that an active bass must be louder than a passive bass - it ain't necessarily so.

Does any anyone know where I can buy these plugs?
the Neutriks are too expensive for patch leads.
Not being funny - but what difference does being a patch lead make? If it is in the signal path it is just as important as any other jack. -
Too many strings. This is the one: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=128

Bass chat seems to be turning into a Shuker love in again. You may be surprised to konw there are other custom builders

I think it is highly unlikely you will be able to get custom moulded case so if it wont fit a Hiscox shaped I guess you will be lumbered with a rectangular one that will take most basses. There might be someone making panelled cases. Other than that a semi rigid gig bag is probably your best bet.

The superfly has 2x250w into 4 ohms outputs, not 500 watts into 2 ohms. Thats 500 watts into 2x4 ohm cabs. If it was connected to 2x8 ohm cabs then it would put out less, although it depends on the amp how much less but could be as little as 125 watts into each 8 ohm cab. Thats still 250 watts. Should have been louder than a practice amp.
Look what just popped up on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Marshall-JMP...1QQcmdZViewItem
How cheap?

Ahem. Bernie's not very good with email, as far as computers are concerned he struggles with the primary function defeat switch. Unlike many custom builders Bernies stock basses use his own pick-ups and electrics (not built by John East like everyone else). The pickups are dual coil and they also have a series parallel switch. The pan contol is buffered so you dont get phase canellation with both pups on. The volume control has clicks for easy setting. 3 band 18v eq with +-21db cut/boost. Another cool feature is there is a light that blinks to indicate battery condition.

Standard but some songs are all down a tone cos the singer cant hit the notes any more - good excuse for another bass.
-
Well I expect the BAM was discontinued because it was not selling - thats usually the reason. Like most Peaveys I expect it weighed a ton. Just cos I dont use effects it don't mean no-one else should, and I dont think anyone is saying cos they use modelling anyone else should. Bet no-one has got a Varaix bass though, great sounds but sh*te to play. Just one question though, I use an EBS rig because it is transparent and allows the sound of by different basses to be heard, although some will say it is coloured - but in a different way. I have played with rigs where the sound of the bass was smothered by the sound of the rig and always sounded the same no matter what was plugged into it. So if you use all this modelling stuff - does it make all your basses sound the same?
MB1. 2 guitarists+ 2 pedalboards + 1 bassplayer +1 pedalboard +drummer= mush.

Sorry to be blunt but that's probably the biggest pile of arse I've ever heard! Normally I can say 'well each to their own' but in this case, you're just wrong!
Well that does depend on the quality of the pedal, leads and dare I say the players. I dont use any effects and use an EBS Microbass II to balance my basses. As I said above there are lots of ways to vary your sound. There is no right or wrong - just different. As to the original question it depends on what you are using it for, but if you are using a modelling amp to produce the sound and volume of an SVT it aint gonna do it.
-
What they said. I've never felt the need to get that many sounds. There is so much variation with fingers, thumb or pick, playing by the bridge/playing by the neck, pickup blending and active tone controls I could not cope with any more.

Recon its just a feature of the angle the photo was taken from and the background. Looks like a nice bass to me but i'm not really into vintage.
Oh bugger. That sounds perfect. Time to scrape some money together.....

Please try and try one first though, I'd feel bad if you bought it on my recommendation and then didn't like it
Yes I always feel slightly uncomfortable posting in respone to "tell me what to buy" type posts.

Don't post your bass via Parcelforce/RoyalMail
Damn, that's sucks beyond belief. That guitar really must have had a rough ride for the bloody neck to snap in half! I remember back on bassworld this sort of discussion came up quite alot and one person who worked for a big courier firm (like TNT or UPS) said that his colleagues used to play 'consignment football'! Hmm, I wonder what that entails......
Recon they must have used this bass for cricket! -
I have to say, with all due respect to Carol Kaye and her achievements (probably more that the whole of bass chat put together) that the evidence emphatically suggests she had nothing whatsoever to do with Stevie Wonders I Was Made.....

There are EBS Neo 2x10s and 2x12s for sale at the moment. I love my EBS 2x12 but your tastes may be different.

Sting in the tail! I am now suffering from vertigo, probably as a result of the damage to my ears. I was looking forward to taking my son mountain climbing when he got old enough. Oh well.

Funkmonkey is selling his Overwater Jazz.

Calm down people. We have had 40 or so express an interest that means 30 will turn up. We still need a venue thats big enough for 30 people + 30 bass rigs + 30 basses (or probably more cos some greedy barstuards have got more than one(people or basses or rigs)). Plus enough A/C power for all the above, plus pedal boards for those that use them. All options are still open so please try and find a venue.

Dont you know those speakers should be vertically aligned and the cab 8 foot tall?
-
Well I "knew" Carol Kaye played on all the motown stuff way before I had ever heard of Jamerson. Perhaps she just thought that no one was ever gonna know about Jamerson so why not take the credit for his work. You cant really confuse THE version of I Was Made..... with a cover version or alternate version. If there were alternate versions I am sure the records producer and the artist responsible would have known. What with Lamont, Dozier, Holland swearing she never played on any of their stuff it does seem a bit odd.
