Well there is a very nice man in Brighton who will probably be more than happy to let you have a rig for the weekend - the problem is you will be hooked
I would get 2 2x10's. Leave 1 with the big band and use both, take the other home for the small band. Job Done.

Good thinking! Do you think it's worth buying the 2x10 and the B2 keeping the 2x10 and selling the B2 combo? Still trying to work out whether this is a good deal at £450 or not, never seen a B2 for sale before.
Not familiar with the B2 but if you like the sound of the GK why buy another amp. Also Ampegs do tend to have an Ampeg sound and you dont want to hear the Ampeg, you want to hear your bass. -

Here is where the idea came from: Ampeg B500-DR

Interesting thread. The irony of proclaiming the best when it is the only has always amused me. There have been somethings that Bernie has been unhappy about recently with GB reviews, comments on the finish when its not actually a new bass (all GB's are customer basses - Bernie does not build them for review), and slagging off the LED show when the reviewers own bass has the LED show spring immediately to mind.
-
Like others have said they are good amps but dont have the market to themselves any more, and the amps are more popular than the cabs.
-
That ART looks really cool - shame its discontinued.
Another +1 for the EBS. -
Welcome

Sounds like a solution looking for a problem

Its my opinion and I am sticking with it. Cant see the point at that price and if thats not the budget then why say it is?
And I am Mr Hunt as well, but not so obviously -
Dont think you will find fans of either brand on here. Isnt Harley Benton Thommans own budget brand only available from them? Thats pretty much rules out trying it, and I think you should try before you buy whether spending £100 or £10,000.

Not tried epifani but did think about it when I changed my rig. Yes the EBS is bright - thats why I always had the "Bright" knob turned all the way down
-
Bonners are listing them. I feel a trip to Eastbourne coming on
-
Sorry but IMO opinion for that budget you are wasting your time. If you were spending £2-3K though?
-
I use Status Hotwire halfs (best of both worlds) and TI Jazz Flats. Different strings suit different basses and different players, so its difficult to make a firm recommendation.
-
Four will always be enough for me, so I may be talking bollocks, but it seems to me that a budget 6 will be way more compromised than a budget 4, simply cos the volume of sales for budget 4's enables more competitive prices.

Wow! What a finish! And you can see some of Bernies trademarks like the wooden tuner buttons and an eary Runour shape.
Welcome to the club; daddy. -
It does say "4 ohm minimum load" on the back of the amp, don't know what the impedance of the cabs is though.
DOH!
According to the manual the cabs are 8 ohms ? -
I think its the only one in colour

I know where you are coming from. Fortunately my singer is also the guitarist so he has a detuned guitar so when he swaps guitar I swap bass. But cos my detuned bass is a fretless, when he suddenly decides to detune something I dont usually fretless and I sing BV's so I cant concentrate on the playing there have been out of tune moments
Just ordered another fretted that I can detune but I have just had a Doh! moment. I could have detuned the fretted as well. Playing up 2 is a lot easier than playing down 2, cos like you say you can run out of frets.
I have got a bass that I have tuned BEAD but sorry to say I have not practiced enough with it! -
Get an EBS Microbass II!
-
Much as I love Bernie's basses I will stick with my current wallpaper. The resolution is sh*t but the picture is priceless!
-
Just get an EBS Microbass II, or lots of other multi channed preamps. Sansamp?
-
Lovely bass! What is so great about 5 stings?

I had the lot! TKO, TNT, COMBO 300, Database (all Black Widow), T-max with 2 210TX. All so heavy I went bonkers and got an EBS Neo rig!
