1. You could also look on the basschat wiki. We use LED PAR cans but they are a bit of a pain to set up and break down. Might look for a case to take the t-bar and the cans. I still think, with the benefit on hindsight, that the i-Color heads are probably still the best bet but you do get a bit hot.
2. There is a big long sticky on ear plugs and nobody uses these, so you are goona have to get these and the ER15/ER25 so you can A/B them.
3.
I had the official Genz Benz footswitch but I didn’t want the shaping options and it was also too big to get in the bag (f***ing useless American design…don’t get me started).
I did warn you
4. dont know the fulltone but there are lots of choices in this type of product - I use the EBS Microbass II. Some are getting very excited about the Aguilar Tone Hammer.
5. Something like this or you could use something like this
6. Just looked at the Aguilar website to see what all the fuss is about and the page on the AG500 does not mention AGS? I must admit though that Tone Hammer sounds way cooler than Micro Bass 2
7. I thought John Deacon was Queen's bass player
8. The beauty of the Badass is it fits right in the fender holes. The downside is it is a bit taller and sometimes neck shimming and pup height need adjusting if the old fender bridge saddles were down on the bassplate. Some other bridges are also direct replacements.
9. No - just common sense. I usually have 3 wraps but dont get hung up about it. If you wind the wraps down the post it increases the break angle over the nut. It is possible to have the string ping out if you wind it up the post. Strings have to be made to fit all basses, particularly fender style with through body stringing where the g string will be much longer than say a top loader with 2 a side tuners. If you dont trim the strings you could end up with stupid turns round the G, specially with tapered posts. The only time I got caught out was when fitting new strings to my GB for the first time, which had untapered 1/2 inch posts and I trimmed the strings same as for the 3/8 tapered posts on my Bass Collection and came up a little short. Nobody died though. I have always thought that when you start winding a string over itself it affected tuning stability.
10.
I think they were designed with EV's own drivers in mind, but I was thinking of using something a bit more modern. (Are EV even still going?) S.
The good thing about the interweb is it has this thing called Google. You type "electrovoice" and it shows you lots of websites, including electrovoice.com. Its quite useful.
11. You might find the Ashdown Dual Band compressor a good replacement for the Trace. It was, after all, designed by the same guy, but may lack the same quality of construction.
12. The SB1000 was a top bass in its day and JT did not have a problem slappin and poppin but I know what you mean about the string spacing - was a bit narrow. Tune are good basses. Presume by Stevie Wonder you mean the mincing legend that is Nate Watts. But then his original bass player was Jamerson
13. Not that I am an expert or anything, but I think a clue to what drivers you should use may be in the Electrovoice plans
14. Hand Made or Home Made
15. I much prefer the look of the slimmed down fiddle body to the sticks that most EUB's present. Have a bump on me.
16.
...Does anybody else find it annoying, on a completely different note, how many turns of the string there are on that tuning peg in the Bass Day advert at the top of the page?
Absof***inglutely
17.
hi guys. yes, it has the -10dB switch, which works for channel A only. this unit can be powered with one 9V battery or PSU (both not included). cheers
Or phantom power from an EBS amp or the PA
18. He is playing something sparkly at the mo. G&L?
19.
Kev, remember that the outboard preamps are only for passive basses or instruments you can run passive. Can you bypass the preamp on your Ray? They don't do anything for an active bass, just overboost it. Rich.
Nope. Cant speak for the Tone Hammer but I am quite happy running my active basses into the EBS. It does have a -10dB pad that helps.
20.
Heh, Ferret - where is all this hype and hysteria? I've not read of any.
Did you not read the title of this thread? It happens all over basschat with various bits of gear - most recently with all the Genz Benz Shuttles bought without hearing - me included. But I did hear a GBE750 with the cabs I bought so I had more idea than most of what it would sound like. And I go through my EBS Microbass II so it sounds like my old EBS only a fraction of the weight.
21.
only place i can find the microbass II is at the gallery, for £299 bassmerchant do the tonehammer for £149
MBII £258.21 at Thomman. If the Gallery will do 25% discount off the Tone Hammer to price match Bass Merchant they will offer some discount off the Microbass II as well. I paid £200 for my MBII so I got it for the same price the Gallery want for a Tone Hammer.
22.
ebs should be very worried; the tone hammer is half the price and i can't see the micro bass being twice as good. recommended
You need to go back to school mate - since when has 199 (listed price of Tone Hammer) been half of 299 (listed price of MBII)?
23. Why should EBS be any more worried than sansamp or any of the other di box with tone controls sellers? OK the EBS is one of the most expensive but I am sure that deals are on offer for the EBS as well, but if you want cheaper then just hang about here cos it appears that a load of lemmings might be selling them to buy Aguillar Tone Hammers. Why are you all in a rush to buy something you have not even tried just cos of the rep and the hype?
24. Probably......
