  1. Probably just a name rather than what they are made of - considering the price of these and Optima Golds when you can get them. This often comes up - what are (insert name of dirt cheap strings here) like? Always gets the same answer - you get what you pay for and if it seems too good to be true then it is too good to be true.
  2. Very nice too. How much did you say you paid for it?
  3. Watts is (are?) irrelevant when considering cabs. Unless you are buying vintage any modern cab will handle 50 watts. Some low sensitivty, wide frequency cabs need a lot more but you wont be looking at them.
  4. There was somebody on Jools a couple of months back playing a 4004 that had been painted up to look like a Redneck. Did the Blackstar have an ebony board or a regular board painted black?
  5. There is a guy I have seen a few times on the local pub circuit with a T&B 50 and an ancient 2x15 without a grill so god knows what it us. I have not noticed he was any quieter than the rest of the guys with assorted megawatt amps.
  6. [quote name='Adrenochrome' post='275040' date='Sep 1 2008, 10:45 PM']...oh, I was forgetting that tube watts are magically much bigger than SS watts . Sorry mate but your amp is not powerful enough. Getting more/more sensitive speaker[s] will help get you more volume out of what you've got.[/quote] Valves sound louder cos they induce compression - which is why lots of compressors have valves in.
  7. 700 quid for a Squire???????????????????????????
  8. If you dont know what you are doing - dont do it. This is a specialist subject that most of us are not qualified to talk about never having used a Treble-n-bass. I think that one of the Dobbin's boys has/had one but you will be lucky to get any sense out of them. You might want to have a word with Oxblood over on Finnbass.
  9. I use photobucket and it gives you the option of IMG tags so I just copy and paste them in. It wont let me paste the HTML code either - just the IMG code or the direct link with the add image
  10. Dont know what picassa is but assuming its an image hosting site then you need to wrap the url for the images with IMG tags
  11. [quote name='MileBG' post='272958' date='Aug 30 2008, 01:30 AM']sory on my poor English[/quote] Its a lot better than my Serbian?
  12. They were well reviewed in the UK but I dont know WTF is going on with those bolts on the back. Looks like the string retainer is broken but thats not much in itself, but maybe indicative of the care its had.

    Pedaltrains?

I was hoping for a little more insight Sizes and prices are readily availabe of the internet - its what they dont say that interests me.

    Pedaltrains?

Anybody got a preference for Pedaltrain vs Tone Trunk Pro's and con's for Pedaltrain/Tone Trunk vs Diago Like the look of the Diago power supply cos I can power the Samson Airline receiver with a battery clip instead of 12V DC (probably why it gobbles batteries )
  15. [quote name='Dodge' post='271654' date='Aug 28 2008, 11:42 AM']The E&G tuners are upside down on the headstock so it allows a straighter string path over the nut. It's supposed to be strung that way as far as I know.[/quote] Correct. You often seen them strung incorrectly. This one looks like its got too many wraps round the posts.

    Pedaltrains?

Must admit a pedal train or the T rex equivalent is looking quite attractive. Dont use effects but missing the compressor I had on my EBS. Add my DT10, Microbass II, Samson Airline (12Volt - bugger!) and my Shuttle footswitch and I have probably got enough to save time mounting on a board for set up and break down, even more so when I get lumbered with the lights
  17. I have said it before and I 'll say it again - who f***ing cares? Why are you guys so obsessed with the bass when the funk is in the fingers?
  18. [quote name='The Funk' post='271334' date='Aug 27 2008, 09:24 PM'][i]A Kind Of Blue[/i] - possibly the finest jazz record ever made. [i]Bitches Brew[/i] - if you want your head f***ed in more ways than Jenna Jameson.[/quote] Abso-f***ing-lutely!
  19. You dont follow the radius to get them lined up nice, but if they are properly set up, and you have a curved fingerboard (some are flat), then you would expect the strings in the middle to be higher (on the bridge) than the strings on the edge's, even with having a higher action on the top strings.
  20. Somebody Told Me by the Killers. Saw a band do it on Friday and he was not playing the octaves in the chorus. I thought to myself - it cant be that hard; and its not

    Pedaltrains?

Thoman is probably cheapest. Charlie Chandlers was only a bit dearer and may be less with P+P.
  22. Wear plugs. The moulded ones are by far the best. £160 might seem like a lot of money but how much do you value your hearing?
  23. [quote name='bass_ferret' post='269850' date='Aug 25 2008, 10:40 PM']As you may have gathered from the useless replies you have received so far - its up to you to decide when to change them.[/quote] [quote name='stingrayfan' post='270032' date='Aug 26 2008, 09:50 AM']Thank you Simon Cowell. [/quote] Well it is a bit like asking how often we change our pants - but I dont wear them that high
  24. Bit puzzled about why you have so much thread sticking up from the saddles on the 3rd and 5th stings in the top photo - cant really see on the other but it looks like those saddles are lower than the others. I would expect the saddles to follow the radius of the fingerboard (unless its flat).
  25. [quote name='BassManKev' post='269996' date='Aug 26 2008, 08:56 AM']his jazz is a salmon pink is it not??? i dont think he smashed the modulus up in real anger, i think it was just a show for the crowd coz he f***ed up the first song[/quote] No such colour as Salmon Pink. It was a bunch of guitars/basses that were resprayed Fiesta Red by the UK importer that subsequently faded. There was once a very famous bass player in a band famous for smashing guitars who used to smash basses when they played a wrong note. There was another bass player who smashed his bass up and was photographed in the act, becoming an iconic album cover. Its not new
