2. I get to go first! Many basschatters have their cables made by OBBM. Any length you want.
3.
Without a shadow of a doubt I'd be having a look at this asap BUT I'd be taking a big f*ck off friend with me and the cash would still be in the cash point around the corner
+1
4. GAS = Gear Aquisition Syndome. Bridges like badass add two things. 1.Mass. In theory the higher the mass the less vibration of the bridge will be in the same frequency range as the vibration of the strings. 2.Rigidity. Again this is aimed at reducing the vibration of components of the bridge. This vibration reduction results in greater sustain and clarity although I think sustain is often over-rated. Seen guys bragging about their sustain and then they slap the sh*t out of it There are other makes like Schaller, ABM, Hopshot, Gotoh; there are a number of guitar parts websites that sell them. Allparts is one but the webiste aint much. The big thing about Badass is they are direct replacement and screw into the same holes. However, they are quite tall and often the neck will need to be shimmed (packing the neck pocket to change the angle of the neck) or adjusted if the neck has the microtilt. Some of the other bridges are also direct replacemet but not many. However, there are some quality basses like Lakland and Celinder that use a beefed up bit of bent metal.

It looks cooler with the bigger driver on the bottom of the stack, and thats all that matters!

At the risk of being controversial the stack is as much about image as sound.
6.
Oh sh*t, I’ve just had a massive déjà vou moment. Not this old debate again…are there not about 10 threads on this already?
just playing devils advocate
7. Can you buy the extra string as a single. Some strings only come as sets of 4 and you have to buy the extra strings individually.
8. I'n no expert but it would be difficult to tell with such dodgy pictures.
9. But is wide dispersion always desirable? Yes if the rig is FOH as well, but probably not where the PA is FOH, the stack is for stage only and would be better beamed at the bass player rather than dispersed and bleeding into all the vocal mic's?
10.
I hesitate to say this but I can't see this going anywhere for a long time.
11. has it got FUNK scratched on it?
12. See this thread
13. Your'e a glutton for punishment The fallacy that the "bass" cab goes on the bottom and the "treble" cab goes on the top when they are both reproducing the same signal (unless they are actually being bi-amped) is an extension of the fallacy that a stack has to have 15's and 10's. Because old skool PA's (lots of modern PA's are multiple arrays of full range cabs rather than the old stack of bass bins, mids and tweeters approach) and most hifi speakers (not mine I hasten to add) have the woofers at the bottom and the tweeters at the top would be my guess. The cabs on their side bit arranges the drivers vertically. This is because of another bit of science that may or not affect the sound (in your opinion) etc etc. Horizontal arrangement of drivers causes something called comb filtering or lobe filtering, where phase cancellation causes peaks and troughs in SPL depending on your position relative to the cabs.
14. I was very very tempted by the GBE750 - but there is no getting past the 30lbs - nearer 40 by the time is in a case. Liked it a lot and the tube made it quite a bit warmer than my EBS HD350 without sacrificing any of the clarity. I went for the Shuttle 6 cos of the weight. I A/B'd it compared to my 350 before I sold it. The EBS had a bit more sparkle, and the tube on the Shuttle made it a bit warmer and a nice tube distortion was only a click or two away, apart from that not a lot in it.
15. I have listed most of the currently available 1x12 cabs on the basschat wiki. I have the Genz Benz at the moment and they breathe a little deeper than the EBS I had before by virtue of the larger cab, but they are larger and heavier. The Berg HT/EX combo has a smoother top end but are considerably heavier. I would have got the Bergs had they been lighter.
16. Any excuse! Get one from here. Its easy enough to do yourself but I could not be bothered.
17.
WT800 - is that the one with stupid outputs - 2x4ohm or 1x8ohm?

yeh 2x4ohms bridged into 1x8ohms. Kinda silly but i love the tone it pushed out!
I would think about getting a pair of 4ohm 2x10's then.
18. Cool name. Welcome.
19. I was in for a fitting when Bernie got that walnut in. He wasn't sure about it as most of his basses are quilt/flame/birdseye. We laid all the bits out and I said he had to go for it and that walnut was very popular on basschat, so he kept it and did your basses. So even though I dont like furniture I made a tiny contribution to your basses.
20.
And the look of it of course! But we know you don't like furniture basses, Ferret..... Mike
I have been known to letch at a nice bit of quilt
21. Unfortunately the sound in the shop is no guide to the sound when gigged. I had been using an EBS Neo 212 with an HD350 for the last few years and it was well capable of drowning out an unmic'ed drummer on its own. And if the drum's get Mic'ed then the bass normally gets DI'd and the rig becomes stage monitoring. At the risk of being controversial the stack is as much about image as sound.
22. I discussed having a thru neck when I had the black one built, as I was having it built to replace a thru neck Ibanez Musician that was unfeasibly heavy. Unless you spend a lot of time playing around the neck joint, Bernie said the only difference was the price
23. Alex Clabers first rule: You can use any power ouput amp with any power handling cab. If any of these combinations makes bad sounds then turn down and/or stop cranking the bass EQ excessively or damage may occur
24. Sorry - but dont f*** about with this sh*t if you dont know what you are doing, unless you are prepared to write off your learning mistakes. Its not a cheap way.
25. For good reason! In 99% of the gigging situations that are gonna come up today it is not needed or desirable.
