1. That russian link comes up bright red on site advisor - packed full of spyware.
2. Your budget does not really stretch to ampeg unfortunately. I have never seen a bad word said about GK gear on basschat and it delivers a lot of bang per buck. You do have to use GK amps and cabs together to use the bi-amp feature. As for sound, dont forget that what you hear recorded or live from top acts usually has f*** all to do with the backline.
3. Where in the South are you? There are a few shops in the south with reasonable bass stock.
4. About 50 lbs. Not exactly lightweight but probably the lightest powered cab you can get.
5. it has been condensed into the basschat wiki
6. Bergantino powered cabs - IP112ER.
7. No point re-inventing the wheel
8. This Ones For Blanton Even better if you can get the Ellington/Blanton original but rarer than rocking horse sh*t
9. Well sign up then. I did copy it to the basschat wiki but as finn wrote it I thought it best to delete it.
10. Never heard anything bad about Zoot basses, but a lot of ones that come up on here seem to be very heavy, thats probably down to the original customer spec. There was another thread about the Chaser not long ago so try a search for that. There is a Boudica 5 in for sale.
11. There are a lot of online guides. Finnbass has assembled a collection here
12.
S/H? Sorry.. not familiar with that acronym-thing.
Second hand
13. Cant help with the strings but welcome anyway.
14.
Cheers paul, yeah i got the reissue for that reason entirely...Familyman, Bootsy and Jaco are the three wise guru's IMO
Wot no Robbie
15. Hiwatt Custom 100 - proper one.
16. No worries. Not looked that closely and not likely to.
17. GuitarWorks and Dawsons dont have much of a range, and I have no idea what the "take it away" scheme is, but £800 buys a serious rig S/H.
18. I think these guitars are through neck so the different woods could be stringers between the neck and body wings rather than laminates on the front of the body.
19. I dont think there is a problem either but there are some that simply cant bear it if someone's first post is selling something.
20. The problem with the guidelines is that most people dont bother to read it. Like the pinned stuff about impedence and strings and all the other questions that get asked over and over again, nobody looks at that either, or even reads posts properly that they are replying too. Can the guidelines bit be made bigger, much much bigger, so you cannot but see it. Even better, when someone starts a new topic in for sale, instead of an empty page they get the guidelines and have to delete them before they can create their advert. I dont know if this is possible with the board technology mind.
21. Some idea of budget would be useful. Also how road ready does the gear need to be? Will light ABS cases do or full full cases? Other than that: Tuner: Boss TU2 or Korg DT10. I dont like telling people what toi buy but these are industry standard. Rack: Warwick Rockbag or SKB whatever U's you want, or full fightcase for amp. Again industry standard. Cabs: Whatever you like the sound of - look at Warwick neo's if you want to keep it in the family. Backup bass: Get another Corvette? Sting: what do you use? Get some of them! When you were putting this tour together you should have tapped Warwick up for an endorsement but its a bit late now. Still worth a call to Warwick UK though.
22. I have always believed that if something appears too good to be true then it is too good to be true. Still sexy looking for 200 notes mind.
23.
someone mentioned previously, before being able to sell: a. introducing yourself b. becoming involved in some of the discussions c. only being able to use the for-sale forum when the individual reaches certain number of posts. I think this is a pretty good idea becuase: a. you get to know more about a new member b. goodwill and trust can be nurtured c. do we want to end up like ebay? this is a great place to exist and sell, lets set the standard! andy
Read my previous post
24.
jeez im here to swap a bass if you guys want to argue then do it on the argue thread ...christ! will be putting pix up in about 30 mins ...rog
See what happens if you dont post an intro If I was you Rog I would start another thread without all this bs, unless you want all the bumps This comes up over and over again , there was even a poll on whether there should be a minimum number of posts but that was inconclusive. Perhaps we need a pinned statement to that end for BMK and his ilk.
25.
You'll be glad to know that as a moderator I am still allowed to have opinions .
Should still have been done in private though.
