1.
I guess with Basschat being a community, people prefer to ask questions than to search through posts to see if it has been asked before because more often than not, someone will have another view to add. The best thing to do if repeated questions really annoy you is to just not read them - other new members will, and reply - and the balance is restored. Happy days.
Wassup Ped - been taking c*** lessons from Kiwi? I am happy to just point people in the direction of the wiki - and if I get abused for not spoon-feeding them the answers I will abuse them right back.
2. Not really my style but you have to admire the craftmanship. Never heard of Grandon Westlund. Scandinavian?
3. I am not surprised as it did say some bad things about the distributer but never the less there was a lot of useful information about what is expected of an endorsee. Endorsement is definitely on the business side of the business - its only something for nothing when you are a really big name like Marcus Miller, who probably gets a royalty on his signature basses (as indeed he should). He has recently switched from EBS to SWR who are working on his signature pre-amp, who are owned by Fender, who make his signature basses - not to difficult to work out.
4. Right on cue http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=13809&hl=
5. Look in the wiki - its a bit sh*tty but you never know. Otherwise try the search as this question comes up frequently.
6. Well the stuff on strings is what I copied from bassworld and I never bothered to tidy it up because I did not think anyone would bother to look at it. It is much easier to keep asking the same questions over and over again without bothering to look at whether the answer is already there. Some even got right sh*tty when I pointed out the pinned threads so whats the point? Mind you the search facility does not encourage looking for similar threads.
7.
I never saw that thread. I would love to know more about that... but by PM if its is sensitive.
Not sensitive as far as I was concerned but he did say some harsh things about the Sandberg distributor. The general consensus was that he had been a bit naive and did not understand his side of the bargain when he slagged off the uk prices and said to buy them off the internet.

9. I think it is digital with regard to the digital switching power supply wigets that are used in all of these light weight amps to avoid using heavy transformers.
10. well?
11. Been looking for presoulnations thread but cant find it - either has been deleted cos of the libel implications or I just cant find it cos the search is sh*t. Anyway it had loads of good advice that could be made a sticky or something on the wiki, although what use that would be if the OP posts the same questions again the following week http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...;hl=endorsement

Search

I am always having problems with Search - the option to "order by" does not work and I often end up "not responding".
13.
I've got no idea what you are talking about. Check these "mega stars" http://www.warwickbass.com/amps/amp_testimonials.htm ...soon to be joined by our very own ian.
Well it is a bit US centric but have you not heard of some of the gigs these guys have got: R.Kelly, Alison Krauss who recently recorded an LP with that other uknown Robert Plant, Lyle Lovett. The thing is that having an endorsement is not a case of they give you discount (or the gear depending on your E rating) and expect nothing in return. Like I said in ian's other endorsement thread - just ask presoulnation about his endorsement deal with Sandberg.
14.
Been meaning to start a topic on this but might as well stick it here. In the world of pro sound direct radiatiors (driver in a box, sealed or ported, with the driver pointing directly out) went out years ago but most small PA's are still direct radiators like the ubiquitous Mackie and Peavey, some of which are man enough to take the whole band miked up/DI'd. Pro sound went to having big horn loaded cabs with compression drivers etc, with seperate bass/mid/top cabs but more recently has gone more for having lots of full range cabs (called arrays) but still largely horn loaded. The only bass cabs made like this were the Ashdown ASS that despite being the signature cabs for the greatest bass player then extant they were not practical for most gigging musicians.
Me too.

16. Welcome Jake. Cool band name - gotta deal?
17. Thoght it was obvious - my bad. If you ain't a pro then you are a con.
18. Most efficient is going to be horn loaded cabs like Bill Fitzmaurice. Shame no bass cab manufacturer does anything similar and I cant help but wonder why.
19. I sometimes get the feeling us humble semi-pro's are supposed to look up to pro players. But what does being a pro really mean? Is someone on benefit doing cash gigs a pro? When I retire from my day job will I become a pro if the Ferrets are still going (or alive). No doubt some of us have aspirations to being a pro but would we actually be better off getting a proper job. Obviously the top of the tree is very well paid - think Guy Pratt, and you have to start at the bottom to get to the top. But how many get to the top? I had a couple of school mates who were in chart bands and they did very nicely but neither has a Lear Jet. Of course its not just money, it may be a lifestyle choice and as long as you have a roof and food that may be all you need.
20. Shame the sender is so chunky. I use the Samson Airline cos the sender is not much bigger than a jack plug.
21.
hi as anyone ever had a endorsment with warwick and can you put your thoughts on the process please mine seems to be a long winded thing anyway thanks in advance ian ps cant wait for the rig warwick tube path 10.1 1000 watts 4x10 600 watts 2x10 ? as anyone used this set up
You already have one thread on your Warwick endorsement - why start another?
22.
It's like the basses they released last year - they were Ok but, goodness, anyone here could have told them the f'ugly headstock was a sale stopper
+loads. Like a monstrous carbuncle on the face of a familiar friend. I suppose the bright colours is a nod to the success of Mark Bass - not realise that sucess is despite the colours - not because of it.
23. Playerd our 23rd Annual Valentines dance to raise money for the local hospice. Not our usual crowd but they all loved it. Cut down to 2 basses with the fretless tuned down a tone and left the de-tuned KSD at home. I played a couple of songs that were not down one and only made one mistake where I went to the wrong fingering.
24. Maybe we should have a forum for rogue venue's. As long as the posters stick to the facts of the matter there sould not be a legal problem.
25. They defo need to sort the web details out - it aint no 7 band EQ. Dont know why some of you guys cant understand that its sliders for level and knobs for frequency for the top 3 of a 4 band EQ. The combination of knobs and sliders is an Ashdown feature after all. Personally I would prefer the simplicity of the MB heads but I really like the look of the Genz Benz shuttles and I am eagerly awaiting the EBS digital amps (just got to keep the gas at bay until they are available).
