  1. Like the Ox's FenderBird. Looks great.
  2. Is there a 2x500watt Little Mark then? These are no relation to the superfly just borrowed the powerstage for the 1000 watter. There are likely to be a lot of these compact lightweight heads coming out over the coming years. I know EBS are working on something similar.
  3. You have to turn the quote tags off if you want your posts to make sense. The reason I asked about your experience is there are lots of posters on here that dont have the experience to back up their opinions, and yes you can waste a lot of money on boutique gear. Crap gear can make a great player sound crap but great gear will still make a crap player sound crap. I played with 2 guys who had Les Pauls and one had a twin and the other a boogie but they still sounded like Bert Weedon. I dont have any experience of Behringer gear myself but I do know there are lots of posters on here that have and I would not say the overall opinion is that great. I have always believed in getting the best gear you can afford when starting out as I wasted a lot of money on cheap gear that was not roadworthy when I started playing 28 years ago.
  4. [quote name='ianrunci' post='141701' date='Feb 16 2008, 08:39 PM']Personally I would igore the posts about not getting a behringer, its just brand snobbery. IMHO you get a lot for your money which is more than I can say for some of the boutique stuff where you pay a lot for a badge.[/quote] And your experience of budget and boutique gear is what exactly? From my experience a lot of budget gear is not roadworthy - great at home but f***ed as soon as you start chucking it in the back of the van/car. This tends to affect the resale value. Unfortunately brand snobbery extends to your potential bandmates and I suspect a lot of auditions end when you walk into the studio with a Behringer. Fact of life.
  5. Cabs dont produce power. Amps produce the watts, cabs turn the watts into decibels. If you give a cab too much beans it will either melt the coils (thermal overload) or destroy the suspension (mechanical failure).
  6. [quote name='Jonny Walker' post='141620' date='Feb 16 2008, 04:25 PM']Apparently it can be switched form 4 to 8ohms, isnt that the impedence?[/quote] Ah - these new fangled impedence switching cabs. A speaker moves as a result of electricity going through a coil of wire set on a magmet. It is the resistance of this wire that gives the driver its impedence (impedence is the term used to measure resistance in response to alternating current). I assume this impedence switching works by taking a tap out of the coil and only using half of it. I am not sure what the effect on power handling and sensitivity of
  7. Read the sticky on impedence. You cant set the impedence of speakers.
  8. Dont keep getting hung up on power ratings. There is probably no difference between an 8x10 or 2x4x10, or even 4x2x10 as long as the impedence is right. There are some that say you should not mix up different sized drivers unless you are using a cross-over.
  9. I think you need at least 100 watts. Only get Behringher if you absolutely cannot afford anything better.
  10. Seems like a bargain to me - have a bump. Better pics might help. If you use the IMG tags on photobucket you can put them straight into the thread like this
  11. Very impressed with the Genz Benz GBE-700 I tried. They also do a 1200 if thats not man enough. See the bass direct ad at the top of the page. BUT.......................if you are that loud then surely the PA should be doing the work and save re-arranging your internal organs.
  12. [quote name='TheRinser' post='139036' date='Feb 12 2008, 07:29 PM']I saw oxblood mentioned further up this thread. Where is he? Haven't seen any of his informative posts lately. I miss them...[/quote] Gone to finnbass
  13. Depends what sort of endorsement deal it is. If its being given away I guess that makes a difference and you can put up with going downmarket. If they are letting you have the stuff at discount and you have to spend the rest of your life telling everyone how wonderful it is I would stick with the EBS. As your current gig is a Motown thing I recon you need a P bass, flats and an Ampeg B15. See Presoulnations Sandberg horror story.
  14. My EBS rig makes my fretless sing
  15. Dont forget there are 2 types of T-bird (reverse and non-reverse). Which one dont you like? Other than that, I'm sure there are lost of custom builders that will create you a T-bird sound in any shape you like
  16. I've heard mixed reviews of the MB cabs - maybe the 15's are better. Have you tried EBS?
  17. I think there is a Bass Collection for sale on these very pages. They dont come much lighter than that.
  18. There is a sticky of recommended luthiers. If the bristol guys are not on there then maybe they should.
  19. Welcome. Whatcha got?
  20. Thomman are in the former GDR, as are Warwick.
  21. It looks like Cerwin Vega dont sell their drivers and just do cabs now - serious cabs mind [url="http://www.cerwinvega.com/vegabass.php"]http://www.cerwinvega.com/vegabass.php[/url] No specs for the drivers.
  22. Should have compared it to the old Cerwin Vega earthquake drivers that had 2 inches of XMax
  23. Dont think anyone will dispute that Joe - just remain to be convinced that Monster cables at a ton a throw will sound that much better than OBBM's.
  24. None of us can tell you what to buy dude - you may not like what we do. For your budget I would get a GB and an EBS drome combo. Metallica it aint but then nor am I. There are a couple of Valenti's in for sale (4 and 5) - very much like Sad's. Amp wise I would go for the EBS rig -its very heavy but you aint moving it, but I hope you have got a big bedroom cos its f***ing loud. More sensible would be a small combo.
  25. [quote name='peteb' post='138463' date='Feb 11 2008, 08:53 PM']And Mr Ferret, I’m afraid that you have lost your bet – pro PA companies use top quality cables as a matter of course…[/quote] There is a difference between top quality cables and snake oil. There was at least one member on here who worked for a PA company that used mains cable for speaker leads.
