1.
I'd like to find out what the point of the stand-by switch is then... another name for a 'mute' switch eh? and what of: 450 W RMS @ 2 ohms load 400 W RMS @ 4 ohms load Not really sure here.. if the load doubles, I would suspect a bigger difference than a mere 50W between loads...
Have seen a few amps like this, not just EBS, and my HD350 is 300W into 4 and 350W into 2 so I guess they are doing something very clever with the output stage.
2.
From the Features box: Que? That makes not alot of sense, unless it just means there's a switch to turn valve emulation on or off, which well...sounds like fishing for features.
Probably the swedish-english translation. The only switch (apart from power and the afore mentioned standby) is the character that I had assumed was just a pre-shape.
3. Yes Standby = mute. It looks like a value head. It sounds like a valve head. It is 14KG/30lbs.
4. Had a good play with this tonight and it will retail for £820. This will be available from shops stocking EBS gear but Bernie will do a deal for Basschat members. First - not a valve in sight. This amp does not have all the extra's that the "definition" bass heads have, but what id does have is tone. It also retains the transparency that you expect from an EBS and having tried it with both of my GB's, a Rumour, a KSD and a Fender each bass had its own character shine through. It also has the EBS responsiveness to playing dynamics. If you snap it snaps, it you thumb it thumbs and if you stroke it strokes. In a word, fan-f***ing-tastic. If you find the existing EBS amps a little clean for your taste, this is the kiddie.
5. Showed this to the man himself. This is not a hand built bass but one of the production jobs with his name on it. Still a fine bass mind.
6. Thought I recognised the name. Buy with confidence. Dont forget choice of woods makes a significant difference to the sound. My swamp ash fretless Spitfire was built first and foremost to be light, but it sings like no other bass I hae ever played.
7. I've made a few, but then again, too few to mention.
8. The graphite neck (if that is what it is) is a puzzle. The solid colours and black hardware defo make it look like a 310, as the more upmarket models had transparent paint and gold hardware.
9. I've never had a problem but I only play in a 3 piece and not such a wide range of genres. Not sure if a GB would be the ideal bass for rock/metal but I would expect it to cut the mustard otherwise. Even with rock/metal it would depend on what style you were playing. Im sure it would be great for Ox/Sheehan type playing.
10. Ca we have a league table like we have with posts
11.
Woh! I like that signal shape section! What a good idea! Dividing the frequency range like that.
If you look up the range at the GBE amps they are adjustable and footswitchable as well.
12. In response to all the I love jazz except Trad comments:
I'd count Chris Barber and Monty Sunshine in the 'good ones' category...
So would I. And Humphrey Littleton. And George Melley. Saw Chris Barber several times in the 70's.
13.
Are there any successful mini skirted stiletto wearing female bassists?
Gaye Advert. Suzy Quatro had leather trousers and stilettos.
14. Look in the wiki
15. You could try powered cabs. EBS or Bergatino spring to mind. Not light though.
16. How was it? We used to play Chats Bar - now that was an experience
17. Still at least it has not been posted as often as The Ox solo bass of Wont Get Fooled Again
18.
Gigging tonight at The Elms again in Worthing if any of the West Sussex Basschat crew are around!
Give us a bit more notice next time and I'll bring the boys along.
19. Sorry I guess that makes me more observant than the rest of you.
20. I still dont understand why anyone would be interested in strings that cost less than a packet of fags. Why bother when you can get proper strings for not a lot more.
21.
Just do a search on Lydia to see how many threads like this have been started.

4. Including this one. p.
And imagine how often it came up on Bassworld and Basstalk before Basschat.
22. EBS amps can phantom power 9 volts by sending it down the stereo lead. I use it to phantom power my Microbass II. Works on their pedals and the effects loop as well. BTW did you ever get Dinsdale?
23.
Here we go again!

???
Just do a search on Lydia to see how many threads like this have been started.
24. Cannot comment on your combinations as I have not tried them - but why dont you want to use the Genz Benz and Markbass cabs?
