1. Just find excuses to keep them. I've got 5 and I gig with 3 (fretted, fretless, tuned down) and the others are an acoustic for fiddling and another tuned down as a spare. See how easy it is.
2. Still think you should check out the pre-amp BDDI before you regret selling the TF.
3. Sorry - burst has to have tort - here is why:
4.
Sad but true; although just about everything in this country is more expensive than anywhere else.
And thats why everything is more expensive. Its a vicious circle.
5. The bass player that needs the box is obviously Nathan East. The box is the tone controls from the Nathan East Signature bass in a box so it can be used with any bass. Whether it compares to a BDDI or other alternatives I am unable to say.
6. When I started there was no choice - you had to try before you buy because there was no mail order/internet. Its a simple choice - buy the cheapest sh*t you can get on ebay or buy something from a shop. But shops cant afford to get stuff set up properly because of competition from mail order/internet. It is a vicious circle.
7. Thats filth like seeing Girls Aloud naked!!!!!!!!!!!!!
8. How about trying something like an EBS Microbass II. Its an HD350 in a foot pedal.
9. Sounds like the old synergy problem, your stage gear works better with one bass than it does with the other. I think the more upmarket the bass the more sensitive they are to this problem, even varying from room to room. Sometimes my full on Spitfire sounds better, sometimes the stripped down P bass one cuts it better.
10. Never got on with Hartke - its a bit marmite. It will sound a lot different to your Ashdown. Whether it is better I would not like to comment.
11. Same reply as last time this got asked - CLint Eastwood - the man with no name.
12. I suspect Robbie will recommend Thunderfunk
13. I think people should get out gigging rather than masturbating on You Tube but then its their life. At least it gets bedroom players an audience if only a small one. I think one guy got a good gig after someone saw him on the tube but you cant tell whether these people actually have the ability to play with other people - its just as much a skill as good technique. You also cant tell if they have the social skills to be with other people but thats something else
14.
It's the bass that my daughter is learning on. I keep telling her that she doesn't realise how fortunate she is to be learning on such an instrument. I'm on the lookout for something more appropriate for a novice, trouble is she is not all that receptive to an encore or similar.
Would you be? Have a taste of this champers while I get you some dish water
15. Session were good gear at the time. Studio orientated as the name suggests.
16. Keyboard stand
17.
Most people probably don't, that's personal taste, but an awful lot of people do, there wouldn't be this sort of thing going on otherwise http://www.unpronounceable.com/solobassnight/
Not exactly Madison Square Garden is it. Yeah its going on in very small numbers but there is a limit to how many ERB players will go to see other ERB players.
18. Every now and then on Jools they have ensembles (I dont think band is a sufficient description) that tha 2 bass players. I am sure there was one in the last series that had 2 four string players. What is the point of that? If you are going to have 2 bass instruments then one should be an ERB that can play above and below a 4 string. Just throwing this out for discussion to atone for past misdemeanours.
19. Looking good Robbie. The exchange rate is gonna make those Dr Bass cabs very attractive.
20. Cant make it tonight - with child. Have a good one. I won't use the traditional salutation knowing your luck.
21.
Didn't he also use a Danelectro at one point.
Not live and only for recording My Generation but he broke all the strings and ended up using a Jazz with flats for the final take. This was before he invented rounds.
22. I think the GB wins the "Brightest Lights" contest easy
23. Sorry Dood but if I am gonna have a 7 string where the sun does not shine its gonna have to be a single-cut. Maybe thats what they are for The reason why I think the dividing line is between 6 and 7 is that should hell freeze over tomorrow I could go out and buy a 6 string. Until ERB's reach a wider audience - how ever that can be defined - I shall continue to refer to it as stunt, circus, musical novelty act and whatever derogatory term I can come up with next. Its gotta be more than the freak show at the trade show. I would even like it to be more than the freak show at the trade show. I didn't make the world.
24. Sorry mate - you are gonna have to weigh it as basses very even within a manufacturer. Go to a fishing club and say you want to weigh your bass
