1. Looks like a lot of bass for the money! If I wanted a 5 string I would check it out. Good luck with your sale Daf
2. Wow! Amazing basses! Real bargains!
3. Cheers 4 the link Keith. How are you getting on with yours?
4. His trios gently disturbed album is amazing! A real gem.
5. wow thats an amazing rig! if i was only man enough to carry it :-)
6. Hi Monz, sorry about that. It was really late. I was there from about 12.30 but we didnt start till 3. I dont know why but im sorry you missed it. It went really well, loads of funk and due to space i only took the electric. I was glad though as it really suited the music. Got to play the chicken and really enjoyed the gig. Great fun, I just wish every gig was as enjoyable! cheers Geoff
7. Great stuff monz, looking forward to meeting you. It looks like it might be bass guitar as we are pushed for space so fingers crossed for a few funk tunes :-)
8. Hi monz. The details Ive been given are: Coco Ice Bar Market Place Bawtry Doncaster DN10 6JL Playing to start between 2.30-3. 2 sets. You are right about Pee Wee Ellis molan. I've been checking him out on YouTube/myspace and he has an amazing CV.
9. If anyones in Doncaster on Sunday lunch im playing with Dennis Rollins and Pee Wee Ellis. Its at Coco Ice cocktail bar in the Market Place on Sunday, July 24 from about 2. Im depping in the band so dont know what to expect but am really looking forward to playing with such an amazing horn section. My friend Mark Ellis is also playing and hes one of my favorite sax players. Obviously Dennis Rollins and Pee Wee Ellis are both renowned players. Its looking like its gonna be more jazz than funk. But as Pee Wee Ellis wrote Pass the Peas, the Chicken and co wrote Cold sweat with James Brown im packing my bass guitar along with the upright :-) http://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk/news/a...ws_in_1_3590995

11.
Geoff, sorry I missed that bit about which strings I use. Well: I have a full size Emmanuel Wilfer strung with braided core solos tuned to concert pitch An old English bass (1869) strung with honeys And a german flat back (c.1890) strung with solo obligatos tuned to concert pitch (but don't tell anyone!) Having said that, they're mostly now strung with a weird and wonderful array of prototypes from Tony!
Thanks Daf. I think innovation are about the only string manufacturer who's strings I've never played. My intrest is in string suitable for predominantly jazz. However I usually use a hybrid string and particularly like Evah wiechs and Helicore hybrid lights (which I currently use). I've never tried 'orch tuned' solo strings, but always enjoyed them at solo pitch. I think I would like them as I'm into low tension strings. Ive also noticed that people who own innovations always seem to rave about them so they must be doing something right! Let us know how you get on with your new sets/prototypes. Cheers Geoff
12. Chic and the Funk Bros (motown house band) are my all time favorites! Love the videos, thanks for posting.
13. Me too Paul! Its great to see a British company is doing well. Thanks for hosting Daf. I will be interested in hearing your experience with innovation and which of their strings you are using. cheers Geoff
14. Hi Guys, Ive re-recorded my you tube videos. I would welcome your suggestions on any of them so please feel free to comment, hope you enjoy them. All the musics my own and they are all pretty short (solo bass can get a bit much even for me). I would like to get some decent videos of me with other musicians but in the mean time these show what Ive been working on recently. thanks for watching, Cheers Geoff
15. I bought my Sadowsky M24 from the Gallery. It's a great shop and the service was fantastic.

Sadowsky

I love my Sadowsky m24. I would recommend them to anyone.
17. Great stuff pete. I really enjoyed these!
18. This looks like an amazing buy! I wish it was a 5 string. 6 is more than I can handle!
19. I can't make it but I love Michael Janisch's playing. Well worth going!
20. Its more often than not an 'artist deal' where the manufacturer is selling direct to the player at about trade price. They still get paid the same for their gear as it's the retailers fee that's left of the price the player pays. Im guessing not many people get an endorsement in the old fashioned meaning of 'free gear for publicity'. I don't know though and would be interested in hearing from people with these deals.
21. I was at Martyns workshop this week. He's a great luthier who makes and repairs amazing instruments. If you need any work doing i would highly recommend him. Geoff
22. I love the contrast of the different movements of that piece. It really takes you with them. I love his trio stuff best too. What a band!
23. Amazing pete! I loved it. The pizz/bow/pizz worked great and I love the harmonics for the final phrase! Hope life's good. Geoff
24. This is a great example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2wKtFUfmZA...be_gdata_player
25. Genius might be a bit strong, but he's not far off! There is so much great music in his recording/concerts. I love his use of odd meters, great feel, flawless intonation, extended techniques etc.... and although I don't like all his compositions many are fantastic. I feel that love him or hate him he's a truly original voice on the instrument. Not many other bassists can say that. I think it's a given that all of us will make better choices as we mature.
