  1. I just had the SB Elite I bought re-fretted for £135 by a local pro luthier: http://www.lakestoneguitars.co.uk/phone/index.html
  2. You can replace it now... https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F153307793340 A bit over priced but you can make an offer....
  3. did you post the right link? it is neither headless, unsual nor Chinese... 🤨
  4. with just one pup and the passive electronics it doesnt sound anything like a Wal really. I was rather underwhelmed with mine. Also, the build quality on mine was decidely average
  5. well to be fair you could ask for a discount based on the fact the pups have been installed upside-down 😛
  6. I can only sumise that there are more 4 string players than 5 string players. Prices can also fulctuate wildy depending on the time of year, how keen the seller is to shift the bass, originality, if it comes with a case etc. etc. The one located in Poland is identical to the one I have, I managed to steal mine for a paultry £750.00 via ebay!!! That is no reflection on the value of this bass just an auction with collection only from the middle of nowhere...
  7. Wasn't aware I was being stalked via eBay! Pretty sure I sold one my 4 string streamers for 1250 but not sure what that has to do with this. 4 stringers are more in demand so you can ask more for them. Also I was advertising mine internationally, with the associated risks, so again you can ask for more money.
  8. To be fair it's a charity shop listing it
  9. There is nothing wrong with it just over priced. It's a cracking bass but really 1000-1200 is the most I would expect anyone to pay. It probably keeps getting relisted when eBay have their promotional £1 selling fee weekends..
  10. Ok but what about getting yourself a decent 10 string bass...
  11. A couple of years ago is not quite 1980 when this bass was built. Things could have been very different 30+ years ago and besides, Carl Thompson is no ordinary luthier...
  12. Been on the bay for quite a while so may be that a cheeky offer could secure it...
  13. And yet the listing describes it as one of the best examples in the world! God only knows what a bad one would look like...
  14. Seems like it's very well built and got some very nice hardware! A Gotoh bridge no less! Be surprised if this fufnt cone out of Japan but I am no expert.
  15. Thanks MATE! 🙄 To be honest I actually prefer the look and feel of the vintage Warwicks (84-90) to the modern ones The current Masterbuilt range have some beautiful touches like the wooden cavity covers and tuners but the cost is a bit rough when you can score a vintage Warwick for about a third of that cost!
  16. What an absolute beauty mate! Some really interesting grain on the body. I now have serious GAS!!!
  17. Yep she is a beauty! Looks like a lot of bass for not much money!
  18. I don't think Russ has a 10 string bass yet.... @binkybass have you got room on that enormous sofa for one of these??? As you've just sold a bass I'm sure your missus won't notice this one seeking in....
  19. Helluva lot of German made goodness with huge versatility
  20. I feel it would have been helpful to yourself if you had watched the video with the sound turned on as Marco does give an excellent commentary on what he is doing and why is going it and the compromises he is making for the sake of making a quick but informative example of his fret polishing method.😉 to be fair I am still not converted by Marco's video to the method he uses. I still prefer the wire wool method. I guess I am just a creature of habit - or just lazy lol.
  21. Thanks Marco. Here is what I use: https://www.cromwell.co.uk/shop/abrasives/hand-finishing-abrasives/03809-soft-back-sponge-115x140x5mm-fine-pack-of-10/p/MMM2016018M
  22. no worries mate, its all good. Did you see my earlier question about the 3M sanding pads you use? Just wanted to know if they are thin or thick as I use some thin ones which are outstanding especially for Warwicks!
  23. I think it might just be the light that is fooling you in to thinking the finish is shiny. I always try to get the bright sunlight light reflecting off the basses when photographing them to highlight the wood grain. Here is the latest one I finished:
  24. What on earth possessed you to sell it??? Would love to see some pics if you can find them. One of my favourite bass players uses a 5 string JD Thumb from the same era but his has the Warwick 3D bridge rather than the Schaller one as pictured on that 4 string. The tone of those early Thumbs is to die for!
