Talking about Windham Hill records, what about this. He is dressed like sh*t, not really on the beauty side, takes 3 minutes to tune his bass when I saw a kora player doing this within a minute with 32 strings, but this is great music, composition and playing. Does anybody complain about him and am I sexist or anything stupid with what I wrote ? I don't think so and I do like him a lot. Maybe now I'm a fagot according to some of the sexist league ? PS : Yvette Young is not a beauty, but she is a pretty girl and I like what she does, even if it could be less pattern repeated...
Sadly the bud didn't do anything for me but like you I'm sure it's because it wasn't some hot piece of ass playing rather than the musical content. In a serious note, i know Michael is a seriously skilled player but that piece, whilst I enjoyed the rhythm, was overall too busy for me. Ugly looking bass IMO even though ergonomically it makes a lot of sense -
"...you guys need to get out from behind your keyboards and spend some time in the real world and spend time interacting with real people in real life scenario" You're saying that my viewpoints are based on a lack of knowledge of the 'real world' [sic] and that I don't interact with 'real people' [sic] in 'real life' [sic] It's patronising and insults my intelligence, but it's not rude ?
Ok so you can dish it out but can't take it. Thanks for clearing that up. Now move along to your next SJW rally... -
Aye, PCness has gone so over the top when you can't even make a positive comment about someone's appearance . On another forum I got castigated for a similar positive remark about a girl on a TV show. Cripes, some people are better looking than others and we fancy them more. What's the problem there?
Well you arent obeying the universal equal opportunity, anti-discrimination laws etc. innit. plus you're also being sexist and mysogynistic for having any opinion on the physical form of a member of the opposite sex - how very dare you!!! -
Because with the exception of the pretty boy out of Dirty Loops and our cross-dressing Korean friend, they are all boring, ugly and badly dressed. Edit: and mot of them could do with a good tidy up of their bedroom before they start filming.
Indeed, that guy from Dirty Loops even with his emo haircut is definitely a good looking guy. I know he's not a bassit but you cant tell me Tommy Emmanuel isnt handsome either! Doesnt seem to dress to shabby either. The fact he is one of the greatest players ever to pick up a guitar should be first and foremost in everyone's mind though! -
Simple stuff: had the bassist in the video been a guy then we wouldn't be discussing his physical opinion at all. I know this to be true, for videos of male bassists are shared on here and their appearance is never once mentioned. The physical appearance of a male bassist isn't even any sort of subject of discussion, whether it be pleasing or otherwise. The unconscious bias/mysogyny here is that because the performer is female then their physical appearance somehow factors into the video. This doesn't mean that anybody goes home and beats their wife, simply that you subconsciously apply a different set of rules automatically when a woman is involved in activity X. This doesn't make me a 'SJW', 'special snowflake' or in any way offended, just to clarify before those tiresome tropes are dragged into it.
Simple stuff, the girl in the video is a guitarist, not a bassist - you really should try paying attention before joining in on a discussion... Simple stuff, I complimented her skills as a guitarist and composer. Simpler stuff, i find her attractive and complimented her good looks. In no way does my opinion or me expressing my opinion about her physical appearance take away from her talents in the same way my opinion on the physical appearance of the guitar does not take away from how the instrument sounds or how she plays it. I posted the video to share her musical talents as I had really enjoyed listening to and discovering her via this video and thought other people on here might also enjoy her music. To those who enjoyed the music in the video, Im glad you did and thanks for not missing the point of sharing music. To those who think me complimenting this young ladies appearance is any way a negative thing, you guys need to get out from behind your keyboards and spend some time in the real world and spend time interacting with real people in real life scenarios. Maybe then you will have a more balanced and realistic outlook on life as well as how and when offence is meant and caused. -
I'm not offended, just trying to offer you some advice.
I don't need your advice mate cause I know I've done nothing wrong. I would advise you to reserve your judgement and criticism of others unless you are sure their intention is not honourable. -
Whether you feel bad for saying so is up to you, but I don't think it's appropriate to praise somebody's appearance in the same breath as their skills, irrespective of gender. Women in particular are too often evaluated on the basis of what they look like, not what they can do, so it's best not to conflate the two. btw, If I tell my wife whe's beautiful she thanks me, but if I were to say that she was a 'beautiful Senior Business Analyst' she'd most likely tell me that she's a Senior Business Analyst whose husband found beautiful
I did not say she was a stunning guitar player. I said she was stunning, as is her playing, her composition and the instrument. If people are going to choose to get offended or label me as sexist or misogynistic based on the grammatical structure of a thread title that only is only complimentary to a female guitar player then I worry for these people and the state of the world. What ever happened with giving people the benefit of the doubt... Maybe it's just much easier jumping to conclusions... -
Praise the skills - what she can do, not what she is.
I did FFS! She IS talented and she IS beautiful! I will not be made to try and feel bad for saying so and nor should I. Paying a woman a compliment on her appearance is in no way derogatory, sexist or mysogynistic. Does your wife, partner, girlfriend etc. look at you like a piece of sh*t when you tell ehr how beautiful she is? No, thought not! Btw, I would say the same damn thing if it was a handsome bloke playing the piece. WTF is wrong with people these day??? Really are some over sensitive snowflakes round here trying to get offended for absolutely no reason whatsoever! -
Yes, aside from the casually sexist thread title, musical content reminded me of Chon. Clean math is have a bit of a renaissance it seems Si

Just to cancel out the appalling patriarchal misogyny of the thread title, may I observe that I don't find the performer at all physically attractive. That's the opposite of sexism, y'see
excuse me? WTF is wrong with me saying that I find a girl attractive? How dare you accuse me of being sexist and mysoginistic simply for paying the girl a compliment on her physical appearance as well as her musical talent! You guys should buy yourselves a dictionary before you go slinging insults at people you have never met! misogynist mɪˈsɒdʒ(ə)nɪst/ noun noun: misogynist; plural noun: misogynists 1. a person who dislikes, despises, or is strongly prejudiced against women. sexist ˈsɛksɪst/ adjective adjective: sexist 1. relating to or characterized by prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sex. -
Nice, bit Pat Metheney-esque. Would have been good to have seen the bass player and drummer, though it might be she has recorded the bass track herself and is playing along to a recording?
Your request...
Would you have put it up, if it was Johnny Vegas playing this tune in his underpants?
Absolutely! Did you listen to the whole thing? The start is a bit slow but as mentioned above it really kicks off after the 1:20 mark. But sure I understand it won't be for everyone. -
I totally love that streamer. What is that bass second from right in group photo?
Thanks mate but which Streamer? There are three in the photo, there is the Stage 1 5 string broadneck, the white 4 string Stage 1 and Jazzman 5 string. The bass 2nd from the right is an Ifinity Set Neck TCS. She is an absolute stunner with time and playability to die for! Unfortunately I am a 5 string player these days so it and the white Streamer will be up for sale shortly.

Repairing Warwick Streamer original preamp - now with pics
dyerseve replied to dyerseve's topic in Repairs and Technical
thanks guys, not exactly what I was after. I am not willing to pay £300 for something that I know for a fact costs about £5.00 to build. I already know the wiring of the pre out pins to the pots in the wiring loom, it's the actual schematic of the PCB that I need so I can see the values and hopefully the part numbers of the components I want to replace. -
So I have a beautiful Warwick Streamer Stage 1 which I love dearly. Unfortnately the pre amp developed a crackling noise so i removed it to see if I could find the source of the noise. Unfortunately it one of those pre's that comes in a little black box that is then sealed with some kind of white silicon. Anyway, by the time I had managed to remove it from the case a couple of the wires had come loose and now I am left wondering if it was a loose wire or a fault with the pre itself. The pre is all suface mount components except a diode, a electrolytic cap and a variable pot (for setting the mid freq i believe). I am thinking of swapping the cap and pot out as they really the only components I can see developing a fault. Does anyone have any experience with these pre's or know anyone I can send it off to to have a look and repair it properly for me. I am a reasonably proficient with a soldering iron but I would really like to get this 100% and looking original ie set back in the case and sealed in with the silicon or whatever it was. It looks a lot like the one in the photo below except it has the trim pot for the mid: Here is a couple of pics of the actual PCB in question - can anyone here help to get it fixed/checked over please:
1. Here's My Dolphin Pro 1. 2. Never heard (of) Ryan Martinie before today ... what a great bass player and how good to hear someone playing a great bass well. 3. The ebay corvette looks very good indeed. It's "only" a bolt on of course ... but then, so is my Wal! Anyway, it's good to find people saying good things about Warwicks, as I've spent too much time on Wal forums recently, where Warwicks are considered the spawn of the devil ... probably 'cause the Wal owners are worried they paid so much when a beautifully built pro-shop warwick would have cost so much less (2nd hand, anyway)! The fact that Warwicks do not hold their "as new" value is a constant mystery to me .. but whilst that is bad for collectors, isn't it great for those of us who want to play them :¬)
Beautiful bass! Love the shape and sound of the Dolhpins. I thought the Pro I's had the dolhpin inlays on the fretboard though? And yes Ryan is an extraodinary player: he does seem to have an aversion to shirts though...

I recently finished restoring this beauty, a 90s Warwick Streamer with a broadneck, Barts and the sold brass hardware. I really need to take some better photos that better show the flaming in the maple, but for now these will have to suffice: Mine has a 2 band EQ and is active/passive. Because I want it to be as versatlie as possible I have installed 2 x 3-way switches to select between coils on each of the barts(switches arent shown in the above photos obviously). It is the best bass I have ever owned or played in terms of versatility, tone and playability. It snarls like a rabid dog if needed but can also be tamed and shaped to whatever else you need it to be. I also have an 08 Thumb 5 string NT which is fab and sounds like nothing else but the neck dive and weight is a bit of an issue for me and I find myself picking up the Streamer more often than not. Will have to post some photos of the Warwick family as I seem to have collected a few more recently Not the best photo but here is a quick family snap:
