Hi, I have a fault on my newly purchased 1984 Aria SB1000, the seller has agreed to pay for any repair and ideally I am looking for someone in the Cambridgeshire area who can carry out a repair and a set-up on the bass. The PUP was replaced aboout 2 years ago and it seems to be working perfectly in active and passive. The issue is the 6 way selector, that when in active mode makes no change to the tone, and with each turn of the switch I get a loud crackling sound, it has been suggested it could be anything from dirty contacts to a capacitor leak, I have had a look and all seems visibly ok - but as a non techie would rather have a professional review and repair it. Anyone know of a good repair tech that could do the job for me? Cheers, Steve.
You say the 6 way selector doesn't work in active mode. Are you saying that it does work in passive mode? If that's so then there is nothing wrong with the 6 way selector switch. It may be it's intended not to work in active mode.
 2. I would email Warwick direct. Supply them with the serial number so they know exactly what type of truss rod your bass has and can advise accordingly. They are very good at replying promptly.

 4. thanks for all the comments guys, I appreciate the kind words. Yeah I never thought I would be selling this, no really! But a lot has changed in a year so I have to change with it.
"I'm not going to lie and say it's flawless" He's got that one right anyway. Lovely bass tho, for not a lot of money at the mo. I do like that headstock shape. 6.
True - should've said "P-ish"! I have an RSB Deluxe II (the P/J-ish variant!) and it's ridiculously versatile for a passive bass. I'd assume the exposed coils are simply for aesthetic reasons, the pup's specified pretty much the same as the MB-II, as far as I know. Interesting (and a little bit annoying!) that he's trying to conflate this bass with Cliff Burton's SB Elite Black & Gold. Entirely different instruments and at opposite ends of the range at the time.
Indeed. Mind you, although you can pick these up for £200-£300 (I sold mine recently for £250 including the OHSC) in reality, if you paid £600 for one you would still be dead impressed with it. IMHO these knock spots of anything esle you can pickup used for ~£600.
 7.
It's about 4.5mm at the nut, I will get some pictures up tonight..
thanks, could you advise the spacing at the bridge please.
 8. Sweet baby Jesus that is a sexy bass!!!
 9. stunning bass. Im also curious about the spacing. I have a 08 Thumb NT and the spacing seems quite narrow - well compared to my Streamer 5 but thats a broadneck. How is this truss rod on this bass?
 10.
It's from the same era - basically a 2xP version of the P/J RSB Deluxe II. Not sure why they used that name, though. Too bad about the missing knob - those Aria co-ax sets are twice as rare as rocking-horse poo.
Hmm. These arent actually that rare IMO. I just sold one and my mate bought one earlier this year after trying mine. They are phenomenal basses though, especially for the money. Think the seller is optomistic on the prices he mentions in the listing - about £250 is the going rate for one of these in good nick. As for the pups, they arent actually P pups despite appearances. Within the cover there are two seperate jazz coils with only half the pole pieces populated. Not sure why they did that but you cant argue with the resultant sounds these things can make. Very well balanced and comfortable to play. Lightweight to at 3.95kg.

 12. Macbass68 bought my Sandberg and my Aria Pro II SB Special II. Payment was instant and it was a pleasure doing business with him.
 13.
If I could chose just an over rated album, then Paul Simon - Graceland . Pretentious rubbish
How very dare you! Incredible album That was grounbreaking on different levels. Superb musicianship and bass playing is out of this world. Not sure what's not to like?
 14. Any chance of some sound clips please for this stunning Wal'ish bass!
 15. Had the pleasure of seing Marcus on his Renaissance tour and it was one of the greatest gigs ive been to in my life even though at that stage I had never heard that album. The accompanying musicians were phenomonal and what a treat for them to play with Marcus. Marcus was very happy for them to have the limelight and support them rather than vice versa. The only bass vituoso whose music I enjoy!
 16. Dare I ask the difference between fanned frets and "funnfrets"? Autocorrect???
