1. The other option is to shot-blast it to remove the gold hardware. I've done it with the gold hardware of my old Streamer and it looks so much better and cost me nothing as I can do it myself at work!
2. Yeah, clearly they made a mistake with the serial number and you are far better off believing the info on the neck plate because there is no way anyone could have swapped that...
3. If it is any help,
Hi all I recently bought an old Streamer std German made Warwick with a pair of MEC vintage style HB PUs. I was looking for a double buck but this came up super cheap so i have refinished and done some work on it. Pics will come at some point!! Each PU has a red/green/white/black and braid wires. My intention is to fit an EMG preamp (old BTS) that i have knocking around. So if all is well i will end up with vol/vol/bass/treble. So questions. Can I add 2 3 pole switches like the double buck and wire the same so i can expand the tone by running PU's in series /parallel/etc?? If so can anyone supply me with a double buck wiring diagram as I am struggling to find one. If this can't be done can someone give me a wiring diagram for wiring it straight to the preamp wiring. I have found a wiring diagram from EMG.. (it is the old BTS system with a small board)..i understand how to solder the BTS to a JP config ( that's what I had before) but with so many wires coming from the PU's...i am finding it a bit confusing as to which wire would go where... I hope this makes sense and is achievable.. . I am hoping as always that someone here can help. Cheers all.
If it is any help I recently did excatly the same thing(I have added two DPDT (on-on-on) switches) with my '93 Streamer broadneck. Mine has bart soapbars but the wiring scheme and low output sounds much the same as your situation. You may find the info in the pdf below useful in terms of switiching/wiring option - starts on page 2. https://www.bartolini.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/4-Conductor-Wiring-Diagram.pdf
4. Close to owning my first ever Fender but missed out with 2 seconds to go dammit!
5. I cant believe Jaydee havent had a letter from Alembic's lawyers!
6. Hope you know a good chiropractor!!!! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warwick-Twin-Neck-Thumb-Bass-/263120657711?hash=item3d43369d2f:g:2rkAAOSw6KVZgfz5
7. this is why I use steel wool when cleaning frets, no need to mask the fretboard off as it cleans the fretboard as well - you do need to mask the pups off though.
8. Fine steel wool will also do a good job. 00 or finer grade.
9. Uniross NiMh for me
10. Well the guy that built it is named Junk Montague so that probably explains a lot, including his understanding of intonation, or lack there of...
11. Would be interested to see some photos. The pups on my Aria Super Bass looked sealed but it was just a metal plate glued in place which was removed with a little care. Underneath were two jazz coils and i was able to extract them to effect a repair.
12. Images now working! Lovely looking bass! GLWTS
13. Imagebb doesn't seem to be your friend either as I can't see any photos, just error messages. Try postimage.io
14.
I was just about to post this. Yeah, doesnt really play the lower strings. I wonder why....
no need to wonder, from the vid description: "Playing a 15 Strings Bass Solo... that's way too big.. The first 5 strings are just too low... You just cant play any clear note... lol"
15. looks even worse in that vid - is it just me or a the bottom 3 string touching each other?
16. they are on-on-on
17. Is that actually a Customshop? Dont they normally have a different serial number and they have it denoted on the truss rod cover as well? Sorry to sound cynical but the registration card is for a totally different bass...
18. thanks. do you know the correct type of pot for use in this application? Is it the same as a volume pot but the centre detent would indicate 50% volume? does that make sense? edit. I should probably just wait till i get home, get my multimeter out and measure the pots behaviour across its range of travel rather than ask stupid quesitons on the internet lol
