  1. Voted! I'm getting very forgetful these days, thought I'd done it ages ago - thanks for the reminder!
  2. I'd have bought that Bronco, if I hadn't already bought Gerrry's Mustang a couple of months ago! He's definitely one of the good guys!
  3. About 8'6 square, the rear 1/3rd of my garage. I'm not the tidiest.
  4. Great work again Andy! What did the weight end up all in?
  5. Re: Mustang PJ, for one thing, I find the tone control great, really usable sounds throughout the whole range. It was wired wrongly at first though, easily sorted!. I'm using the Status half rounds (nearer to flat than round) and really liking the sounds. Plenty of boing with the rounds that were on it when it arrived, too, if that's your thing. I'd say it's really versatile and doesn't have really bad sounds at any point. I'd prefer a blend to a switch but that just my preference on basses.
  6. Lenny! Fricken genius man! THAT'S what the music in the star wars bar should have sounded like!
  7. The feature never seen before : it has Spellcaster written on it somewhere
  8. I wonder how that would balance, with the bridge being so far up the body? I like the headstock shape, and expect it has lightweight tuners though.
  9. Deffo the superglue thing!. Seen this on a couple of Squier basses and it worked a treat
  10. Thought this was going to be a Washburn style bass, built in a workshop
  11. In at the death as usual. Poor effort this month, sorry. Sub bass warble and baby elephant sound again (the Mrs liked it last time), I think you can guess which voice belongs to each character. Not so much of a fight as a mild disagreement.
  12. I sprayed my panels with diluted pva (Unibond ) before covering with some old velvet curtains. I think the idea is it forms a slight crust and stops the fibres coming off. I think I got this tip off a DIY panel video, seems to work well.
  13. The 2 examples I quoted have smaller (lighter?) bodies and standard size heads and hardware. I agree, if the bodies were the same with shorter necks it would be the case. The Bronco balances better as it has a better proportioned head and smaller tuners, for example. I'm considering lightweight tuners for my Mustang, any recommendations? I generally prefer smaller keys. It's tuners are 91g not including the bushes.
  14. I thought that would be the case ( no pun intended ) as the bridge, like most Wal parts, is unique to them
  15. I don't suppose Wal would sell their bridges separately?
  16. Dunlop polish warning: my 74 Gibson SG had a nasty reaction to this. The finish went cloudy and rather sticky. Took a lot of work using a variety of other stuff to sort it. Luckily I had stopped applying it before I covered the whole thing. The final thing that got the gloss on the affected area was.... toothpaste!. Minty fresh aroma too!
  17. BTW, I have a hand sketched circuit diagram for the Wal preamp somewhere if you run into trouble.
  18. That's a big thumbs up from me. I commented on another thread about how much I like to see this done!
  19. I worked on someone's Ergodyne once, and the machines were indeed soft material. One of the arms of the tuner post had broken, but still functioned, so I drilled a hole in the other arm to thread the string through. It was a bodge, but worked ok at no extra cost. If it were mine I would have changed the lot. The neck was superb though!
  20. Too late to suggest that the pointed Gibson bass headstock looks better, Grabber style?
  21. You can take a photo of the Kustom and get it printed on cloth. My sister has a large textile printer. Would probably look ok from a distance
  22. Are you going to use the same neck at 28" scale and refret it with fewer frets?
  23. Guitar and bass for me and I own a drum kit. Since lockdown, my drumming has come on a bit. I recorded along with a jazz backing track yesterday and it sounded almost like a drummer. Anyone who has heard my composition challenge entries can decide for themselves on the merits of my drum wrangling
  24. As an addendum to my earlier post a few months ago, I got the Studiospares m1000 Mark 2. I think they were £59. They have a more robust headband now, still have removable cable and now come with 1 set of leather ish pads and 1 set of velour ones, similar to Beyer. Sound wise they are quite similar to the mk 1 but slightly clearer top end. I always found the mk 1 a bit shy there. The m2000 is the same in open backed design.
