Love this. Could also be a great side line for you!

Thanks for the vid. I tried adjusting the snare and front plate tension previously - was just a duffer. Went to PMT in Cardiff today. They have a(n already built!) Meinl with built in pickups. Sounded like a Cajon. Seriously considering it…

Hiya folks. I’m interested in getting a cajon, but I have no idea what to buy. I tried a Meinl kit, but it was rubbish. Can anyone in-the-know recommend a “Squier” level cajon?

Got the P2 recently. Had the tuner for donkeys, and the in-ears for a couple. Can’t wait to give this a shot!

Oh hang on, this thread is 7 months old 😂

I’ve only played the Gretch - didn’t notice neck thickness. I usually play a P bass. The Gretsch is a nice looking, easy playing, good sounding thing. Will happily gig again.

Not even that? 😂. Awaiting a response from the seller.

Yeah, that’s what I was expecting. The ones I have bought are flat! 😂 ebay ftw!!! 🤪

Sounds like someone needs a hug.

Hello. Just received a pack of 3 shims from eBay - 1, 0.5 & 0.25 degrees. To the naked eye, they all appear to be a consistent thickness. Is that right? Should my (admittedly not very good) eyes be able to detect a very slight difference end to end? Anyone else bothered buying something similar able to confirm?!

Good tip (huh huh huh). I have the Zs10s (I think) but they pop out too willingly. These look like they will eliminate that unwanted earbud exit.

Glad to see a Maude project back on the table again!

40th Anniversary Precision £259 at Thomann!
Pea Turgh replied to Frank n funker's topic in Bass Guitars
If it were me, I’d sell it for £259 on Basschat. -
I thought I’d update you, as I know you’d all be worried. It lives! Copious amounts of switch cleaner and much pot twiddling appears to have cured the crackles and volume drops. Phew.

Looks like I’m on the way out of this club. Bought my PF350 around 5 years ago new. Right before last night’s gig, it started crackling and dropping volume. I’ll put some switch cleaner on the pots, maybe try a jumper between FX send & return (not sure what that does but it’s often suggested here 😂). If that fails to improve it, I’m going amp shopping in January!

Scratchplate cut/drilled/fitted, found three quarters of a set of strings to make sound with. My wiring loom actually works - absolutely chuffed! Still to do - sort nut (doesn’t sit right and is too high), fit shim, cut & shape a new truss rod cover, route 5mm under the pickup - it sits too high and the strings bash it. Can’t understand how it was ever playable like it was for the past 50 years! Need a short scale set of flatwounds then. Love LaBella LTFs but can’t seem to find any at a reasonable cost. Anyone got any supplier recommendations?

😂. They are actually small - 205mm x 420mm x 220mm. It would look great atop my BF Two10.
-
You got me looking 😂
-
Getting close now… just need to cut the scratchplate and truss rod cover, fit the nut and solder the earth ground to the loom. The colour is a little patchy, but sort of emulates a well-worn violin 😂

Hey gang. Thanks for all the useful tips. I ended up using an old hifi interconnect of suitable thickness. My soldering skills are not amazing but it seems to have gone ok. Will hook it up to an amp in a bit and tap the PU with a screwdriver to see if I get a signal. I rewired the PU lead too - the previous job was shonky.
-
Hey peeps. Usually I’d just get a ki0gon loom, but on my most recent project I thought I’d do as much as I can. Got the CTS pots etc, only a simple volume & tone jobby. My question is, what wire is needed? I’ve got loads of domestic hifi speaker cable kicking around - is there a reason other than aesthetics to use cloth covered or specialist stuff? Or shall I just use what ever passes signal? Thanks in advance.

Oh definitely! That’ll look ace 👍
