Pea Turgh replied to Frank n funker's topic in Bass Guitars
I keep wanting to get one of these, but I have a 40yr old Squier already 😂 GAS - the silent killer… -

Better to have it and not need it though. Preparation is key and all that. -

In 10yrs time when they’re all £1k+ I’ll be kicking myself I didn’t buy one. -
I made a scratchplate from a blank once - it was surprisingly easy. Made a paper template first, when I was happy with the shape and pickup/neck cutouts, transferred it to the plastic sheet and went at it with a jigsaw. Then just scraped the edges to 45 degrees with a Stanley knife. Sanded the edges to finish, and hey presto.

I’ll be there! And my lad!

Lovely looking bass. Makes me want some Werthers Original, though. -
Starting out with a PA - Am I on the right track.
Pea Turgh replied to Stub Mandrel's topic in Amps and Cabs
I don’t have anything constructive to add, but I’ll post anyway 🤡. I hate micing up a kit in a pub. Total overkill. Also @Stub Mandrel, made me chuckle thinking of you with your featherweight GR bass cab, flanked by two big heavy 2x15’s! -

I actually can’t remember what I did with the preamp. I probably recycled it.

I pulled the preamp out accidentally on mine. Got a Ki0gon loom and wired it passively. Sounded great!

Stick, Twist or Shake it All About? Gibson Ripper Content

I’d whip the scratchplate off to see what lies beneath, then replace it. Maybe even add another pickup if the routing is already present. -
I put a mint guard on my old oly white mustang. It looked awesome.

Love the cab riser! What is the Stingray? Headstock looks different.

Royal Blood @ Glastonbury Wot R those basses????
Pea Turgh replied to JohnDaBass's topic in Bass Guitars
They did a 30” scale a few years ago - could probably pick one up on fleabay. Then a couple of Artec pickups and a chisel… -

Just get a normal Squier Jag and get to it with a router! That’s probably what I’ll end up doing 😂 -

Also had a Starcaster at some point. My lad is an avid fan, so we’ve watched it twice already 😂 -
I looks like it should come with 2 T-bird pups as standard. Nice 👍

It doesn't have to say Fender on the headstock...
Pea Turgh replied to jd56hawk's topic in Bass Guitars
Now that, I like! -
Don’t think that was the point. The average audience member doesn’t give a hoot about how much upper mids in the bass they can hear, just “does it make me want to dance?”.

After hearing the 12’s at the SW bass bash, I’m 100% fixed on one of the range as my next cab (might be a while as I’m still trying to build a little studio).
-
Ooh, nice! I like the neck/body transition.

Might just be a bit of internet Petrol on an internet fire, but there’s been a bit of a buzz around 80’s Peavey guitar amps with the blue knob and saturation control, thanks to QOTSA. There are a few in the range with the same circuit, so might be a good find? https://www.guitarworld.com/news/josh-homme-secret-weapon
