  1. Oh no! Must have been a duff driver?
  2. 8khz is still quite high. A lot of people like putting keys through guitar amps, and they top out about 5khz? Depends on the sorts of keys sounds you need, and what your tastes are, I guess. Might try my daughter’s electric piano (Kawai somethingorother) through my micro cab this afternoon to see what it sounds like. I love the idea of a 2x6. Got the cab building itch again…
  3. Just saw this on eBay and came straight here to tell someone. Late to the party. Wtf have they done?!?!
  4. Did the wiring - bloody awful brittle stuff. So many issues I’m not going to do anything else! Noticed how far out of alignment the pickups are. Looks like they were way out from new. The crack has a build up of gunk in it, so assume it’s been like this for a long time. It can stay like it is as it’s usable.
  5. Hello chaps. A friend of mine just dropped off a bass in need of a dab of solder (I’m certainly no tech, and not charging money, just helping a mate out). Bass in question is a Satellite P bass. Assume ash body, maple neck & board, white scratchplate. I’ve not heard great things about them, but this plays nicely. Was going to give the trussrod a tweak as the action could be a little lower at the dusty end, but then I spotted a big crack between the neck & fretboard between 12th & 19th frets. Truss rod access is at the body end. Assuming it’s been over-tightened, so will let sleeping dogs lie! Is it worth wicking a bit of CA glue in to the crack to stabilize it?
  6. It’s all about perspective - basslines on fire? Cook an egg to replenish yourself by the time you finish the song. It’s a win-win for me.
  7. Love it. I’m really appreciating chrome pickups recently - something nice & different to boring black plastic. You need to do a “basses on the settee” update - you’ve got some cool looking basses!
  8. This Guyatone EB4 is closer with the dots on the fretboard; https://www.guitar-auctions.co.uk/sale/169/285/1970s-Guyatone-EB4-bass-guitar-made-in-Japan
  9. Just found this - might be Teisco; https://reverb.com/ca/item/2554820-vintage-60s-unlabeled-teisco-w-gold-foil-pickups-bass-guitar-needs-neck-work
  10. Has some similarities to an old 60’s or 70’s Japanese bass I rescued - the mahoosive tuner ferrules, agricultural bridge, chrome pickup cover. I determined mine was from the Matsumoku factory, but drew a blank after that. Any images of the neck plate? Cool find, anyway. Would love to see it brought back to life - keep us up to date!
  11. Mint guard, VBT loom, black & silver knobs, Hipshot Vintage bridge, maybe some Tbird pickups. That would be a looker. Oh god, why am I so shallow.
  12. Oooh - I didn’t know they did them in oly white! Imagining how that might look with a mint white scratchplate (something of an obsession of late).
  13. Is it the amount of basses owned by the average basschatter?
  14. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t! Fender are regularly bashed for sticking to their “formula”. Conversely, this lot are making something new with an old brand name and they are bashed for not doing reissues! I like the gold/champagne SS. Headstock is a bit 90’s for me.
  15. Just put a Guns’n’Roses patch on them
  16. If it’s glued too, yeah pop the screws out to round over, then put them back in afterwards. Or glue and dowel. Those corner protectors would sit nicer then, too.
  17. Ooh I love a good cab build! Are you doing a round over?
  18. Keep us up to date with your progress- love a build diary!
  19. Great intro to 6 string, and probably not too difficult to shift due to the F word. Hopefully they’ll still be around at a good price next year when I’ve financially recovered from Christmas. Still gutted I didn’t buy a Squier Vista series Musicmaster when they were selling for £100 in the late 90’s 😂
  20. What is the fretboard made from? So dark and shiny! Lovely looking bass. Sorry to hear about your friend, though.
  21. Continuing the theme, innit - remember the image from the first post?
  22. I like the headstock arrangement better with another tuner! The rest of it looks cool too. Wonder if they’ll do a six stringer one day?!
