Ola amigos. My local tech just posted some Instagram pictures of a bass he’s worked on, and I’m smitten. The tech (very good too) is in the South Wales area , so I’m wondering if this belongs to one of us on this here site? This is just great!

That could make a nice bass! Rosewood bound fretboard, swap the PU covers & knobs for cream ones, maybe gold hardware.

Ooh, where to start!! Most recent and best (worst) - sharing backline with the headlining band in a rock pub gig, bloody rammed. Setting up I accidentally knock over ALL the other bands (thankfully still cased) guitars.😳 Ooh the stinking looks I got. 2 minutes later, I had to ask one of them if I could borrow a guitar strap 🤦‍♂️

My vote is reshape to Blazer style like wot @Bassassin said. Maybe paint the body (personally not a red bass sort of a chap). This is on the premise that it plays nicely. If it’s not a player, give to friend.

I went camping with the wife and kids down Oxwich Bay on the Gower in about 2015. The kids started playing with another set of kids, as they do. Had a chat with the dad who turned out to be a fellow bassist. He was also playing classical guitar in the evenings. I believe the family was from the South East. At the time, I was just coming to terms with depression, so I probably not at my best, which might have been construed as rude or ignorant I’m in to fixing past wrongs these days, and it struck me the other day that the person I was talking to is probably a Basschat member, so I thought it would be nice to say hello again. Bit of a long shot, but I thought I’d reach out! Was it you?!

You could buy it as a project. Needs a new nut (& strings!). Replace the bridge, pickups, scratchplate, neck, tuners, maybe the body, too.

Is the original covering underneath still? If not, just patch up the orange, spray the grill where the Trace badge used to be and blacken our the red stripes - it’d look prettier to sell for not too much effort.

I think it’s possible to get sucked in to a never ending gear fest, probably spending way more than you need while seeking the best of the best. I’m guilty of the constant search for perfection, but sometimes I wonder if I could have just bought a Rumble 500 and been just as happy!
