  1. Just about to go on with my two latest basses (P-bass bitsa and Hohner Jack) and my freshly refurbished Bayma-loaded Peavey cab...
  2. I’m thinking I have enough now, maybe even one too many for now. I’ll never be shot of the JV. It’s perfect! The black bitsa needs some tweaks but I feel will be a great player once the nut is done. My new headless is so comfortable to play, and is conveniently small and light! Th lovely blue HB originally done by @yorks5stringer is possibly going to be on the bench a bit more these days. Hmm. Could put a Stingray pickup in and make it a bit uniquerer?
  3. G’day, mate. I’m Welsh.
  4. Distance selling rules - just go for it and send it back if you don’t like it. Hell, for that price I’m considering it an I don’t even need a new amp!
  5. Nut width 38mm, but the strings are a mere 29mm centre to centre! The bridge spacing is cosy too.
  6. #metoo
  7. No likey words. Need see piccies.
  8. Dammit - I tugged on it thinking it was a spacer or something. I guess it shouldn’t come out then?
  9. Bought a Hohner Jack from Mike I’d been wanting for some time. Mike is an absolutely lovely bloke, and has been very patient and accommodating in my prolonged enquiry, to eventual purchase and then collection of said-instrument! Thank you Mike!
  10. Only thing that’s puzzling me though is what is going on in the battery compartment? Any ideas?
  11. Just got in from meeting @scrumpymike to pick up this fantastic beast! I first saw it in the classifieds here, then shortly after played it at the SW Bass Bash. I wanted it. Fast forward a few months and here we be! I will have to get used to the narrower string spacing (ironic as I posted about not liking narrow necks earlier in the week) and the lack of head, but my playing feels more fluid already. Looking forward to gigging it Friday!
  12. I know it’d be daft to do it, but it looks like there’s blank space in the outer wooden shell on either side - you could make the box narrower and it wouldn’t overhang as much on the cab!
  13. There’s barely space for me at some places I play, never mind a table!
  14. Damn that’s nice. If I hadn’t have already committed to another bass recently I’d be all over that!
  15. Just to say, I was the owner previous to Mr Yorks5stringer (who is a gentleman, btw), and I had it from my uncle (original purchaser) in around 95/96 when he emigrated to the US. Lovely bass, I just get on with wider necks better. Missing that colour though!!!
  16. I like wide and shallow. Narrow gives me hand cramps. I have daddy long legs hands though.
  17. Just realized I’ve subconsciously constructed a cheap version of one of the fantasy Maruszczyk I spec’d on their website!
  18. So my free bass is costing increasingly more - just fitted a set of ultralights! I suppose I should sort the old screw holes. Any ideas?!
  19. Could use a small cushion or bean bag for the floor end?!
  20. Now that’s a better solution! Does anyone make them with bigger bits for the neck to rest in? That one looks a bit shallow.
  21. I use one of those too. It works, but on a small stage the flex of the plastic makes me worry someone will knock it over. I have a metal one that pokes out of my bag (actually that just broke). What I’d really like is a compact double stand, but the ones an the market look poop.
  22. I can sometimes contradict myself within a very long sentence.
  23. I LOVE that first one!!! The black one is also very nice. Ric management seem to have rubbed people up the wrong way with their extreme brand protection. Just look at the sub-forums here with all the “Ric free zone” disclaimers - they seem to threaten everyone they deem as infringing with legal action I think. You probably knew that though!
  24. I se what you mean, but look at that neck joint! Damn, I foolishly thought the recent and pending basses would stop all this silly GAS!
  25. That second pic is great
