  1. Sorry if the title is a bit provocative, but I’ve just seen this...
  2. Ultimate portable set up? I won’t ever do it, but I thought two cricket bat basses in one backpack bag with a Quilter bass block & cables, carrying a Barefaced Two10.
  3. Isn’t the equation something like; Number of basses owned +1=happy ?
  4. I had exactly the same setup- great sound and plenty loud. Damn I miss my One10’s!!!
  5. Well it definitely looks nice, so if it plays and feels nice, sorted!
  6. My first bass was a Kay P-copy. Bloody awful thing! Weighed about as much as a car, and the neck was ply! That looks cool though - what does it play like/weigh/sound like?
  7. The build (and thread) are on pause for a couple of months because of stupid boring stuff!
  8. Love the jag shape. One of these days i’ll continue my build! Re: number of basses - I had 2 before I joined Basschat, will be up to 4 in two weeks (and 5 if I get my derrière in to gear with the jag build)!
  9. I was going for subtlety, but maybe you’re right.
  10. Finished! These pictures don’t really show the full effect, but a couple of coats of paint make the grill look so much better! Not bad for a £90 cab?!
  11. Got the white piping done. Let’s see if this weeks weather let’s me spray the grill matt black!
  12. A wedding, in a tent, at the seaside, in a storm! Oxwich Bay Hotel is almost on the waterfront, and they have a marquee for weddings. The wind and rain were lashing down, with the sound of waves smashing against the rocks - it was exhilarating! Thankfully the marquee was solid (and in a sheltered spot). The crowd were great, the sound guy was great, the buffet was great! The venue has noise level restrictions, so electric drum kits only. Our drummer is very loud and a rocky, so the look on his face when he saw his kit for the night (bottom of the range Roland) was priceless!
  13. I am happy with this...
  14. Popped my neck off tonight making adjustments, took a pic just for you!
  15. I played a 4 string version in a shop 23 years ago and I still think of it now! If only I had the £500 for it back then!!!
  16. This looks great! Just looking at the way the body and neck cleaned up is so satisfying! What about getting a 3D printed copy of the pickup cover? Or just getting a neck pup that doesn’t match but is roughly the same size? Maybe one of those uk-based pickup makers would love the challenge of making a new one to match the old one?
  17. I can vouch for the sticker aspect - I put that on about 20 years ago!
  18. Erm, is that a trick of the light, or are you wearing a gimp mask in that middle picture?
  19. Hello Mike, so this includes a hard case & uk delivery for £325?
  20. The scratch plate arrived this morning. I had to widen the pickup holes, cut in to the neck pocket corners and cut the truss adjustment hole (original neck was headstock-end truss nut). i am really pleased with the neck - it’s perfect! Look at this grain!!! I have no affiliation to the seller, just thought I’d add a link to them as they do a few neck options... musicalaccessories https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F232723568523
  21. So that’s slightly longer than an actual double bass?! Hats off to you, Sir!
  22. Heck they’re nice!
  23. Would love to hear some sound clips Andy!
  24. The neck is on, and straight too! Just got to wait for the scratch plate and buy some new strings.
  25. You can have it! The new one arrived today - I only ordered it yesterday! Looks lush. Will try to fit it later after domestic duties are complete.
