  1. We'd like to think that most bands realise this, but you do get the odd one. Not everyone has their own PA nor needs one though.
  2. My rig aint that big or impressive, it's hardly a fridge and I'm young enough to not have a glass back. 99.9% of bands and bills I play, cabs are involved, whether I take my own or use an in house cab or gear share with bands on the bill. It makes no odds, I take my amp, I turn it on and I'm away, not much different to setting up whatever DI system you use, I'm experienced in setting up and down so I've had no complaints from engineers either. I like having my amp there, and it's been fine for 90 years or so since the first amps where invented. To imply songs aren't good enough if I can't feel it is absolute rubbish, done plenty of DI only gigs, but here is my PREFERENCE, I like my back being flapped about, I have capable gear and I am capable of getting it right in the 7.5 minutes we have to set up.
  3. That might suit you in your experience, but in my experience, I like my rig behind me giving some power, as it's powerful music, cant beat that feeling. Cant always trust FOH engineers to give you what you need, or have the time to get that sorted, sometimes it's boom straight on, I'd rather my vocalist and drummer get the time they need to get their necessary mix through through the monitors.
  4. err yeah, tried and tested on many a O2 academy
  5. Ashdown ABM 600 and my barefaced 410 plus 210, loads of power and dispersion.
  6. I'd say that 90+ percent of users just have an 8 or a 4ohm load to contend with, 2 ohm, isn't day to day usual, it's great that brands offer this now with switching, but you cant please everyone with everything. If you had 2 x 4ohm cabs get the 1200W for dual 600W at 4ohm outputs.
  7. I like it, If I could afford it I'd buy it, but I do hope it does into mass production like the ABM 600, I have that and it's great. Class A/B amps are hard to find nowadays as not many big name brands are making them anymore, which is a shame really. Ashdown as far as I am aware are still quite a small family run business, with customer service second to none. Still if it is a step up from the Evo IV it'll be immense. Best amp on the market in my opinion.

  9. Hey dude, I've got a couple of the rockboards. Don't necessarily need a tray mount but it is nice and tidy, same with any of the mods, very handy. In terms of power, how many pedals do you need to power? Then have a look around your budget, there's plenty out there, none necessarily the wrong one. I've got a relatively budget friendly fame dc8 that can power up to 8 pedals, and I've tie wrapped it underneath in one corner

  11. Yeah, couple of times I've picked up a cab on the way to a gig, off the top of my head. The last time being when I picked up my BF four10 back in 2019 over in Chepstow.
  12. Aside from plenty of clones out there this guy does a nice mod https://thezerofret.bigcartel.com/product/god-mode-rat-tzf-modded-proco-rat

  14. Definitely a classic and a gateway into all things doomy
  15. Not so much, I'm considered a gear freak with my peers I see at gigs and love discussing pedals and amps and that, get asked for advice, so rather than belittle fellow bassists we just chat stuff, I don't really mind what you play as long as it's cool. I see more snobbery on here tbh, glass backs and in ear peddlers. ooerr controversial
  16. 17. Thanks dude, not bad for a new band!
  18. Quick look on the site, not increased that much, but as Merton says, just the way of the world at the moment, still amazing cabs.
  19. Nice! In my local final this year so hopefully I'll be there in the August.
  20. ABM 600 - Barefaced four10 and two10, I can modulate cabs for size of the gig and the Bf 10's are ideal for me. I like to feel the bass behind me, so I like a powerful rig, I take a DI out the head post EQ so the desk gets what the cabs get and the sound guy can fart about with it, on some larger gigs with a decent set up and soundcheck time, I've took a feed out the a parallel out on my pedalboard into a HX stomp running 2 cab sims also to desk, give the engineer a good mix of that and the DI from the ABM. two10 for small gigs / rehearsal four10 for everyday/most gigs stack em up for the bigger gigs. I don't tend to wander far, so I get my monitoring from the cabs and reserve the monitors in front for Guitar/Vocals/drum feeds etc. Suits me and I don't think I'll ever veer to far away from that, aside from maybe a purchasing an IR loaded for ease instead of also taking a HX stomp in addition to usual stuff.
