  1. Only use the JJ valves (see above) . Don’t bias them in the red of the dial, when setting up your amp plug in the speaker cable first, then the power cable so you accidentally switch on the amp with no load . Turn on amp power, tune bass, Set up pedals etc, then turn on standby in that order. After gig /rehearsal turn off amp first, then put away bass pedals etc . Move the head at the very end (I.e everything in reverse). That’s what I do anyway 🤷‍♂️. They’re very reliable If you treat them right . They don’t blow up like some class d amps I had !
  2. Did a bit of research on the Ashdown CTM (thinking of replacing power valves) apparently you have to use the JJ KT88s 🤷‍♂️ . Just as well they’re the cheapest
  3. Has anyone ever used KT90 or even KT120 valves in an amp designed for KT88s? How did it go?
  4. I’m surprised your amp has only one speaker out , are you sure you don’t have a speakon and 1/4” out that’s often the case.
  5. I’ve had a number of SS and hybrid amps with fans, the only one I found to be excessively loud was an orange terror bass I had , that was very noisey. I had a SS trace head that used a heat sink and fins . That worked fine and no real noise, weighed a bit though. At the moment I’ve Ashdown Spyder that has 2 fans, you can hear them but they’re not intrusive at all,
  6. Stairs and transport are the 2 biggest things that put me off 810s
  7. Does it have wheels?
  8. I wonder is it to prolong the life of the valves?
  9. A 4x10 is heaps for me 🤷‍♂️
  10. Bargain ...superb amps
  11. Not doing my 8x10 gas any good
  12. Depends on the power rating and how many valves are in the amp. The CTM100 doesn’t have one as it’s valves are spread out , the ctm300 does however
  13. They’re 280w at 18kg, hand wired and all for £1500 isn’t bad at all
  14. I have 2 valve amps and one hybrid, everything I need really but that Stoneham YI200 amp really stoked my interest 😭
  15. Pure tone amps from Greece look amazing, he does a 120w bass head . it might be my imagination but I think bass tube amps are getting more and more popular, maybe it’s because people are using PA DIs more and don’t need as much power on stage, who knows ? , I can see Harley Benton bringing one out ...
  16. I reached out to the guy (for research purposes only of course 😉) and it was sold - Thank God ! 😅
  17. There’s a guy in Spain selling a George Dennis 120W amp for €599. Looks like a bit of a beast . Anyone know of these amps ?
  18. I had a burgera knock off SVT once , a BBV3000 I think it was . Great amp for peanuts, I only had it for a couple of months .
  19. I remember that matamp he had Drooled over it for ages ☹️
  20. Well it’s the best sounding bass amp I’ve ever had, I had one old guitar amp that also sounded amazing. It was a Carlsbro 50 top and the the transformers in it were massive . It sounded great with bass , especially the dirty channel. It was 50w through 2xEL34s . I bought and sold it for peanuts . I wish I’d never sold it ☹️
  21. That’s an amazing deal
  22. Even fiesta red ? Even the Pino P bass ?!?
  23. I’d like to try some NOS sometime . Some RCAs or Telefunkens. Just to see if the hype around old stock is real or if new valves are just as good.
  24. The JJs work perfectly for me , I used TAD STR ones before and they were also good but a bit more expensive. I doubt there’s THAT much difference between them . I might try them again , they’re supposed to be a bit more kick in them .
  25. I’ve both those amps, they’re just great . ! I think the tone for the little bastard is just wonderful
