  1. Danelectro Longhorn basses. Sorry if anyone owns one but they look horrid to me, the 'horns' look like they could snap off if you looked at them too hard,. I'm not convinced by those lipstick pickups either, they look like something that fell out of a lucky bag.
  2. Those Ampeg basses with the F holes going through the body and the double bass style headstock, vom.
  3. What's worse is the Fender 5 string, where the G string is on the sloping bit of the Fender headstock, It looks like it was just shoved on as an afterthought.
  4. the New Sandberg headstock is pretty slick, I've an old Sandberg and it does look like it could double as a shovel.
  5. Many Many Many moons ago I just couldnt 'get' the 3+1 MM headstock. Its so ubiquitous now it doesn't seem unusual at all. I bet if some manufacturer were to to bring it out now people would think it's horrible.
  6. Oh Dear, I appear to have hit a number of hate-triggers with my Majones Jabba-4 (i.e. black hardware, no scratch plate with plate control knob and matching body and head stock on maple). I dont really care, it plays and sound fab.
  7. I was just on their site Yep they still do it , the softcore aged is perfect. I asked them before if they just did it new, they said that it doesn't really look like anything the green/blue mottling effect (which is so nice) just isn't there with the un-aged finish.
  8. As mentioned above I'm opposed to 'reliced' basses...in general. The only one I'd consider is a Roquefort blue reliced Sandberg, they are just gorgeous.
  9. They do a lovely blue-burst aswell
  10. It looks like somebody used a piece of MDF back to front, and then couldn't be bothered finishing it.
  11. Ted Nugent's favorite bass guitar.
  12. I'm not an accomplished fretless player but I really lined fretlesses really annoying, not for any aesthetic reason but because you instinctively play between the fret lines and are then of course off-pitch. I think they're a hindrance more than a help TBH, better off with just the correctly positioned dot markers and ears (IMO of course) .
  13. Oh yeah, now I see it I cant unsee it. That's just ridiculous, and for such an expensive bass.
  14. I think the black hardware on this bass looks ace, and really compliments the neck
  15. Not sure what the problem is?
  16. Black precision basses with a white scratch plate and a rosewood neck. It’s just a cheapo bass combination.
  17. I like the look of woody basses but I dont like that Id have to 'mind' it with creams and stuff.
  18. My Sandberg bass is about 10yrs old now and I didn't initially really like the rosewood fingerboard with no inlays (it seemed a bit pale, dry and boring) but I've been diligent in applying lemon oil everytime I changed the strings. It has a deep lustre now that looks cool.
  19. Maple fingerboards that are basically too "orangey", a genuinely aged one looks so good but some cheap brands go to town on the stain.
  20. I like bass guitars to be kept fairly simple, things I dont like... 1. Too many knobs and controls and too many pickups 2. Gammy headstocks (see Sire Marcus miller bass) 3. 2 x 9v battery compartments (its gonna be a pain to run) 4. The most controversial: paying extra for a faux "battered up" bass 5. Reverse vintage tuners - why? 6. Although i own a 24 fret bass, I think it's probably unnecessary and takes away from the looks of the bass.
  21. I considered getting white fret dots on my Sandberg for a good while...kinda like its now though.
  22. A “double bass” cheat . Labella tapewounds .
  23. I’ve owned a couple and I agree, they’re pretty useless as acoustic instruments however I picked up an Aria FEB (second Gen the other day , it’s fretless so I’m hoping that with a decent set of flats (ordered) it will approach an upright in terms of tone. It was sub £300 so definitely worth a punt. . Here’s a few photos
  24. Less blurry photos !
  25. I think this the second generation, made in Japan which I was surprised by . A great buy... correction , Made in China of course
