  1. Trust me...I’d balls this up. I’m looking forward to getting it...I’ll see then what needs doing. I reckon the only thing that will functionally let it down are the pots, wiring etc. the bridge and tuning machine heads look decent enough. I’m getting this bass purely for its tone and feel. I love that tone and while I really like splitcoils for their practicality there’s something unique about the sound from those kind of pickups. I’m not bothered enough about cosmetics to go at it with a jigsaw
  2. Will probably leave is white and leave my manky sweaty fingers do the tinting !
  3. Cool build , aesthetically I would have preferred if it came with a proper tele style headstock but beggars can’t be choosers for €109 I guess. Cool that it has a big thick neck though . Exactly what I want .
  4. You’re probably right , I won’t get the screwdriver/soldering iron out unless a component is so bad that it impacts the playability/sound of the instrument.
  5. The BN pups are 90% the cost of the bass 😂😂. It really is insane
  6. I’ve already been eyeing the bare knuckle pups 😂, when does it end 🤔
  7. I just ordered the sunburst Harley Benton there. Every review I read was overwhelmingly positive. For €109 it looks like an absolute steal. I'll be sure to post a review when It arrives.
  8. About 7-8 years ago Sandberg had a ‘take’ on the fender tele bass (the one with the big humbucker, not the ‘51 style) . I believe it was only available from Thomann . It has since been discontinued. Just curious to know if anyone purchased one? Is there anyone out there in bass chat land ?
  9. Thanks for the feedback on this cool instrument. Now I've got some serious gas 😫 Any opinions on the Squier versions? Even Thomann have an own brand going for peanuts.
  10. Anyone have any opinion about these basses vs the standard split-coil type. Every time I hear them on Youtube they sound great. Kinda spacious but warm, thumpy. That pickup looks kinda small, I Imagine its noisy??
  11. Arrived yesterday, took 5 mins to install Looking forward to trying it out at Fridays gig, didnt take very long to lock down the D tuning.
  12. I ordered one off Bass Direct.
  13. Currently playing in a rock band that cover a lot of songs In DADG tuning. Sussing out a bass extender tuning machine for convenience while gigging . I’m just not convinced that with a flick of a lever the bass will perfectly be in tune to D and then perfectly back to E. I’ve a hunch that I’ll still need to fine tune it...which would defeat the purpose imo. I’ve worked out that a 1/4 turn of the tuning machine is all that’s required (more or less) . At around £100 I’m not sure if it’s worth it? Anyone using these ?
  14. It would seem really wasteful it they were buried in a hole somewhere.
  15. Can old strings be thrown in with recycling waste? I would doubt it given that they’re generally a combination of metals ? Sorry if this has already but I couldn’t find a forum on it.
  16. Anyone ever try those platform thingies ?
  17. Seller collecting a Carslbro 50 top guitar head I bought there a few months ago ‘for the craic’ as we say around here. It was a surprisingly lovely sounding amp for bass but totally impractical. It smelled very nice though 🤣. Oldie woodey burnt dust odour that you can only get with an old valve amp 🤣. And a heavy lump .
  18. When I was in my 30s I wanted maintenance free lightweight hi-fidelity technology that I could put in my pocket Now that I’m in my mid 40s with Dickey knees I want 1960s Cold War technology that weighs the same as a small house and needs constant replacement of parts that were made in countries that no longer exist 🤣🤣🤣
  19. You need to go to another bass forum that I think is called “talk basses” or something??? . Full of angry yanks anyhow 🤣🤣
  20. The one problem with valve heads, small cabinets don’t really work with them , especially if they’re only around 100w. There isn’t enough power to get what you want and they physically don’t fit on them . You need big high sensitivity cabs with them (well that’s what I found )
  21. Definitely think that head needs a lot of speakers
  22. Bit of a rare beast. A 2008 Mayones Jabba4 passive . (No battery box) the switch runs the 2 pickups in series for extra oomph but I rarely use it. Sounds fab.
  23. Here’s some of my stuff (seen be Raggae bass already 🤣)
  24. You need one of these CTM amps . (If you haven’t one already 😂)
