  1. I had a decent play with it yesterday with no issues. I discovered that some of the leads I was using were a tad faulty. So I'm hoping that's the problem. Will keep using it at rehearsals with new leads and see how I get on.
  2. More amp repairs 😩😩😩. I have no luck with gear !
  3. Anyone ever experience an intermittent volume drop from their TE??
  4. I managed to get my 2 valve heads serviced through music minds in Clonmel , they have a contact in Dublin. Now that store has shut 🙄. There was a lad in Waterford but be stopped doing it. It’s a dying craft .
  5. It’s different alright , cleaner , deeper, having a separate gain and volume makes it a lot more versatile. I’ve played it out doors with no problem. You just have that extra bit of headroom. But I do miss the LB-30. I use an old Carslbro 50w guitar valve head at home just because it sounds so good, plenty of low end for small gigs and the overdrive channel gives the best dirty bass sound I’ve ever heard. BTW the CTM100 is 19kg which isn’t bad at all, well worth a punt. Also check out handbox 120w amp from Poland
  6. I had one a while back and it was a lovely sounding amp. I moved on to the ctm100
  7. Might be the power valves , how old are they ?
  8. My own CTM100 is making its way back to me after a long service.. I Cannot wait to try it.
  9. Can any Irish Basschatters tell me if there are reliable amp techs in the Republic south east ?
  10. Decided to set up the neck on my bass using fender specs. I realized I’ve set it much lower in the past with no issues ? (I’m a lightish player) the fender specs feel kinda high to me but I think I could easily adapt. What’s the general practice here ?
  11. Interesting +/- 6 db is significant (I just have one pres-shape option)
  12. That glassiness became quite annoying after a while at rehearsal last night. I don't use the AH500 much but my valve amp is being serviced. I really need to get to grips with the settings. In the end I did just what thodrik suggested ed, I pushed up the mids a little and cut either end of the eq frequencies and turned off the compressor altogether, I found that sound a lot more 'natural' , I was able to dig in without it being 'neutered' by the compressor. Again I concur, a small level of compression still compresses too much.
  13. How do users feel about the scooped Enq preset options or the compressor (I have an AH-500) . I feel it can kill the sound a little ?
  14. Im Gassing for a fender bassman 500w, they look great .
  15. Valve in > Class D out; Valve in > AB transistor out; Transistor in > Valve Power amp out. What have you tried ? Whats the difference in sound and what would you recommend ?
  16. See my thread above, I bought a 50W Carlsbro Evo guitar amp a few months back, no modification. Bass response from it is good...much better than I expected.
  17. Did you try running the valve head into the bass cabinets, you might be surprised at how much low end you'd get.
  18. THought the store was ‘just at the end of this street’ until I got to the end of that street and realized it was another street away...too late to turn back to my car. My back felt it .
  19. walked the length of 2 streets to my amp tech guy carrying an Ashdown CTM-100. Arms fit to fall off. The things I do for tone 😂😂
  20. Actually Epifani also do this with their DIST range of cabinets. Not cheap.
  21. Why don't more speaker manufacturers do this?...seems like such a no-brainer.
  22. Question on AH/500-7. There are 2 outputs , one is a speakon the other a 1/4” jack. The min load is 4ohm...does this mean I can connect a 4 ohm cab to each output?
  23. The latest from CITES is that international transportation of rosewood on musical instruments will now be exempt from restrictions.
  24. It looks a bit better than a bronco to be fair and made from alder, rosewood, maple etc. but I’m not convinced it’s worth the price tag . I’d love to see a demo of it.
  25. Just go to a (friendly) guitar store and ask them do they have any bass boxes, they might give you one, they might even have bubble wrap. They have to pay to dispose of this so you might be doing them a favour. Send to the the seller. The seller already has a gigbag.
