  1. From experience I find a p bass with a decent small amp is a better solution. I have a markbass 801 and sounds massive
  2. Cheers, I have a Fender acoustic CB-100 and it looks like the Aria suffering from the same giantism syndrome as my fender. I don't think 34" necks suit these instruments. I have long arms and big hands I I still find the first fret a bit of a stretch, plus my fender is very neck heavy. I think I'll be selling mine. I've had a few acoustic basses and I was never happy with them.
  3. https://www.gear4music.ie/Guitar-and-Bass/Aria-FEB-Fretless-Electro-Acoustic-Bass-Guitar-Flame-Natural/1FE1?origin=product-ads&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItqOK0L6_3gIVmuJ3Ch0WzwYWEAQYASABEgKNfPD_BwE Hi All I've been eyeballing this fretless for a few months and it looks really really good, for the money I think its worth a punt. Anyone know anything about it?
  4. Hi There, Would you ship to Ireland?
  5. Looks fine to me (Im not a Sadowsky owner or anything)
  6. As far as I know it has a glockenklang preamp . It’s the physical wires from the preamp to the jack, they seem to be a very light gauge
  7. I have to disagree, I love those pickups , have them on my sandberg (P-Bass) - active, and on my Mayones Jabba-4 (jazz), passive. On the jabba the neck pickup is really meaty and can pass for a p-bass, the bridge pickup is really articulate and tight. Each to their own I guess.
  8. I have a 2011 (gen 1) Sandberg California VS4. Basically an active P bass. Its been well played and well broken in and it sounds and plays like silk.
  9. One again I've had to take a soldering iron to a broken jack connection on my 2011 Sandberg California VS. Its a fantastic playing and sounding bass but the wiring seems very delicate. Does this ever happen anyone else?
  10. I agree, I own a 'old model' sandberg and the headstock is like a shovel, great bass though. much rather the new design headstock.
  11. Agree about the D.Lakin headstock...its like they just gave up. the Marcus Miller bass one just looks unfinished. Like it came from a 'build your own bass' kit. Sadowsky one is fine IMO, I have a Mayones Jabba 4 and again, it looks 'fine' a bit uninspired. I know its not all about aesthetics but its nice to play a pretty bass all the same.
  12. It’s literally the only thing putting me off .. well maybe I’m a bit suspicious of a bass with so many pots .
  13. HI Chris, just looking at these pickups, can they be used for an acoustic bass also?

    KT120

Can you replace KT88s with these tubes and a bias? Or will there be transformer issues ?
  15. Well I do feel like Mr Sellotape.
  16. I was thinking of a 1930s style coup d'etat
  17. Hi Everyone I joined a band last Feb/Mar that was pretty much defunct for over a year for want of a bassist. Anyway when I joined we quickly dusted off and get going again pretty quickly playing indie alternative covers. It was me and one of the bands 'founders' that pretty much organised all the gigs. I pulled in a really talented rhythm guitarist and that really transformed our sound.....then the drummer quit (he was in about 5 other bands) So I managed to hunt down a replacement, then the singer and co-founder quit...again I think I've secured new singer/guitarist. At this stage the only original band member is the remaining founder (LG). At this point though is it basically a new band? Or like Fleetwood mac do we drive on with the original 'ethos'. Is this strange? - I dont think this has happened to me in my 30+ years of playing in bands.
  18. No hum at all out of my ctm-100 or the little bastard I used to have ? Just clean warm valvey goodness . (Am I doing something wrong 😆?)
  19. That’s not ideal at all, I was literally moments away from pulling the trigger on this amp a couple of weeks ago, instead I bought a small mark bass practice amp (801). I think I’ll hold on a while.
  20. Thats so annoying...happened me before with gear4music. Eventually...I got a refund.
  21. I once had an Orange Terror bass that gave up the ghost on me on 2 separate occasions at gigs. Ever since I always carry a backup. I got rid of the Orange BTW.
  22. I’ve had no issues ...that said I always have my trusty 1996 trace Elliot ah500 in the boot of my car...just in case
  23. I’ve been playing a secondhand Ashdown CTM-100 for a year now with no issues. You just need to remember 2 things. Always have a load and don’t move the. When they’re hot and you’ll have no problems (with well made ones). They’re worth it IMO.
  24. Its a disease, every time I whittle my collection to the bare essential of gear, just to keep afloat, I get the fever. I've a serious addiction to tube heads that I know wont be sated until I own a sandbox WB-100.
  25. Hi People, Where I'm from (SE Ireland) there seems to be a serious dearth of decent drummers. Most good ones are in at least 5 bands. Our excellent drummer has recently decided to quit our band (we're a bunch of old fogeys and he's a young lad destined for stardom), so it looks like we'll be doing semi-acoustic gigs until another one comes on the scene as we're not really into electric drum machines. Is this the same situation in your neck of the woods?
