  1. Anyone know any guitarists playing a Sandberg guitar, they look decent enough but I fear that market might be too saturated
  2. I’ve this bass in natural finish, I think it’s a great bass , I’ve owned an MM stingray and I still think this is a better sounding and playing bass as they placed the pick-up slightly closer to the neck .
  3. So , I’ve a gig tomorrow night with a 5 piece in a typical cosy Irish pub, (i.e . Not enough room to swing a cat and we’ll be falling over each other) I’ve decided I’m gonna try the elf with the 1x10 box . Wish me luck 🍀
  4. It remind me of those hideous VW Polo chameleons from about 20years ago.
  5. I have to reiterate that the elf 1x10 box is a great little cab . It really fills the room
  6. Went through a spate of fender jazz basses both US and Mex always found them to be a bit 'meh'. Then went through a load of different brands from Sandberg, Human Base, Warwick, Music Man, Mayones. About 2 years ago I picked up a fender mex player precision and I absolutely love it. I was actually really surprised with the quality, playability and tone from this bass all at a very reasonable price point.
  7. Brought this out tonight to rehearse for a few upcoming gigs . It really has a great tone . Every note punches hard , no dead spots .
  8. I like this combo for a Jazz but it has to be beaten up a bit.
  9. I own a bass (Sandberg Basic) that has 24frets. While I think aesthetically it works pretty well for that particular bass, in general I think 24frets kinda looks goofy and unbalanced especially with traditional bass shapes. I don't think I ever really felt "I could really do with 3/4 extra frets on my bass'.
  10. I'd love to see an actual Wish-o-Backer in the flesh .
  11. Any high end bass that has too much 'bling', gold hardware, metallic finishes, too many stitches and knobs, too may pickups (unless its 'ironic' like the Warwick Bootsy Collins star bass). Wal, Alembic, Fodera, Warwick come to mind. Don't like exotic woods on basses either, they look like pieces of 70s furniture. At the opposite end of complex basses Fender P bass the black/white pickguards/rose wood fingerboard is a horrible combo IMO. It makes a good bass look cheap. I love P basses otherwise.
  12. I suspect they're just offering this option for people that just want to have 'extra things' on their cab and to match their competitors in terms of features.
  13. I've a Two10 and I've never found myself thinking 'God this thing really needs a tweeter' always had plenty of highs for me, but I guess somebody must've wanted it added. Just though the 10CR series was supposed to be old school/vintagey
  14. I had one of these heads up to a couple of months ago, kind of miss it but it wasn't getting the use it deserved.
  15. Unless it has a valve power output section it shouldn't be an issue
  16. I have to say I purchased a Fender Player Precision bass last year and it was probably one of the nicest playing basses I've ever had in 30+ years of playing bass. They just seems to have gotten everything "right" with the player basses. Ive owned a mex standard jazz in the past and that was cheap and nasty. The player series are a real step upwards. Sound and plays great out of the box, easy to set up. Neck feels great, not to fat or skinny, electronics spot on, weight perfect. If you just want a good bass to get started you cant go wrong with a player precision and they often appear here at around £500 ish. great value IMO. Id recommend a maple neck one, the back has a satin finish and the front, a gloss finish, very well done, classy looking.
  17. Playing a small gig with my elf 'Rig' tomorrow, I'll be using my Sandberg California VS and maybe my Sandberg Basic as backup. I don't plan on using much in the way of effects, maybe a little compression and chorus. Will report back
  18. Learn the song at home, Rehearse the song to iron out bugs with fellow musicians. When you get to a certain age with other commitments and rehearsal time is precious you'll just realize "I don't have time for this BS" . The advent of smart phones has a detrimental effect on rehearsal, people on their phones all the time and reading lyrics / chords mid practice. It actually discourteous not to have your act together with no homework done. One solution is to list the songs for next weeks rehearsal so everyone knows what to do. It sound like that guitarist likes the idea of being in a band but not willing to put in the work.
  19. I signed up to Scott Devine's course, it seemed great value for money and a great course however I just didn't have the time to get the most out of it.
  20. I like some of the really early stuff, like the eponymous Yes LP from 1969 and 'The Yes Album' . I actually went to see them in Dublin once when Chris Squire was still alive. I met a mate at the gig who came straight there after work. He was so hungry he left for a fish and chips at the start of a song, when he returned the same song was playing 😂. I just think they seem a bit humorless and take themselves way too seriously (except Rick Wakeman). At least other prog bands like Jethro Tull and Rush can poke fun at themselves.
  21. That happened my Two10, the glue doesn't work BTW, in fairness they put their hands up and know this is an issue (I assume they've sorted this problem now). I ended up getting that heavy duty Gorilla tape and just taped around the corners and now its fine. Another quality control issue I had was one of the speakers was farting a bit when I received it, again they immediately dispatched a replacement driver and it was easy to replace. Its a great cab otherwise. I use its with my Ashdown 30W little bastard, Ashdown 550W Spyder and TE Elf and it works great with all of them, in particular the Little Bastard, its only 30W but the cab is so sensitive it can get pretty loud, loud enough for small gigs. I was in the market for a 1 * 10 cab recently and I agonized over getting a One10. in the end I couldn't justify the cost of it and ended up getting the TE 1*10 cab which is "fine" but I have an inkling that the One10 would have been a better buy.
