2. I bought this about six months ago and have never managed to find time to work on my fretless ear/technique, so I'm looking to sell it on to help pay for a Yamaha fretted four string. It's tuned EADGC but could be tuned BEADG with a string change. The finish is a bit dull in places and a few light scratches which could be polished out. I'm based in Milton Keynes, ten minutes from M1 junction 14 if anyone wants to pick it up otherwise I would detach the neck and pad a box out with bubble wrap before posting. As stated in the topic title I'm asking for £80 collected or £100 posted Thanks
 3.
Is it Chinese or Korean-made?
It is Chinese made Thanks Any takers?
 4.
where abouts are you based mate? Also whats the overall tone like? by the way the g is on the wrong way!
I'm in Milton Keynes, about ten minutes from M1 junction 14 The tone is quite flexible, lots of room for tweaking from bright treble to dull thud Hard to comment really as tone is so personal to bass players
 5.
My Rotosound Steve Harris flats have a similar colour arrangement...
I haven't tried the Steve Harris strings but I did put Rotosound flatwounds on a bass, nice mellow sound, but not really for me.
 6.
I play elites, and they have red ribbon at the ball end, and blue at the tuner end so I'm pretty sure those are the ones you're looking for I don't know about the nickel ones but I use the steels and they have an amazing bright sound
Thanks for the help, I haven't used them for a few years but I might check them out again. Much appreciated
 7. I bought a second hand bass which came with some nice sounding bass strings, I'm sure I've tried these before and I'm thinking they're Elites. They have red silk at the ball ends and blue silk at the tuning post end. I've been using Warwick strings exclusively for about three years now but I might try these other strings when I know what they are. Thanks Andy P.S. I asked the seller what strings they were and he didn't know either....
 8. This is a Bass Collection Speakeasy four string model from 2007 in a white finish, active electronics, awesome sound, low action and ridiculously fast neck. This is in excellent condition, bought as a backup for my Warwick Corvette and never used. I've spent a few hours playing it at home and this thing is ridiculously easy to play, my only regret is that I didn't learn to play on one of these back when I started out. I've found a vintage Yamaha that a local dealer is looking to sell on and I could do with putting some money into the deal, hence this sale. I'm afraid I'm not interested in trades as this is purely to raise funds for my new bass. I'd be happy for cash on collection or paypal as payment - I can post for an extra £20 if required. This bass is in Milton Keynes, ten minutes from M1 junction 14. Thanks Andy
 9.
For a related lovely fretless bassline that I enjoy playing, try Hey You by Pink Floyd. Integral part of the song as well...
Comfortably numb sounds nice on a fretless too, although it wasn't recorded with one
 10. Tony Levin's bass line on Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer is one of my favourite fretless lines. Got to mention Steve DiGiorgio too
 11. I bought a Bass Collection Speakeasy bass a few weeks ago and it's a very playable and well built bass. For that price range I'd probably look for a second hand Fender Mexican bass but the Bass Collection are worth a try too.
 12.
I went to a couple of music shops in Falkirk to see what they had in stock & maybe try out a fretless (not expecting anything really). The first one I visited didn't have much in but said he was expecting a lot of new stock in about a month's time including Fender & some other good brand yet to be known (hopefully will have a fretless in then). The chap was pretty pleasant & I'll pop back to see what he has. The second shop is where I got my Freshman semi from (after traipsing round Glasgow trying everything that was @ £500) about 4 years ago. The shop was full of budget gear (£500 is an expensive item to them). The chap was talkative & pleasant enough, but when I asked if they ever stock fretless basses his response was "No. You wont find many music shops will have one as they can't sell em. They're no good for playing in a band with as the notes are hard to get & are really only for home use, just for your own pleasure". He then went on to tell me how they got one in stock many years ago & he couldn't play it (I don't think he plays bass at all mind) & I'd be best to try ebay or Cash convertors as folk who buy them find out they're no good for in a band & sell them again. I thought "well he works in a music shop, so must know best"!
I've come across this type of salesman before, surely they could offer to order a fretless from their supplier rather than send a potential customer in the direction of cash convertors or ebay?
 13. I used a five string in a grunge band in the 90's with some downtuned guitar it really suited the music. My five string now is tuned EADGC and defretted, I never really need to get below a low E and find four strings are more than enough for me.
 14.
I really like the Soundgear basses. One of the best basses I've had was a K5, lovely bass to play for any genre, very comfortable. For me, ergonomically, I think Ibanez basses are superb, and even the budget models I have tried have been very playable. I can only repeat what I've said in the past, you can play any style of music on any model of bass, period.
From what I remember of the Soundgear I played, it was very playable but I prefered the sound of the Yamaha BBG5S, which I eventually bought. That was 1998 and I'm sure the range has changed a lot in the past 12 years!
 15. I have to admit to only ever playing an Ibanez Soundgear before and not being that impressed but recently I've spotted a few older Ibanez basses listed on ebay and really like the look of them. I think the Musician is a little out of my price range but I'm quite interested in the Roadster, Roadstar or ATK 400. Any advice from the basschat community?
 16. Thanks for the interest - I sold this for the full asking price on ebay. I regretted selling my four string model so bought the five but didn't get on with the narrow string spacing - since then I've decided to stick to four stringers.
 17.
PM SENT
Still available
 18. Any trades before I list it?
 19.
What kind of things would you be looking for in a trade? Also, what is the scale length of this bass? Cheers.
Scale is 35" - helps give a tighter B sound IMHO I'd consider any four string bass of a similar value in trade, with cash adjustment either way
 20. I am looking at switching back to four strings and am selling this to fund my new bass. I'm based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire and would prefer a buyer collection but can post this if needed. The bass is in excellent condition, never gigged and has some light scratches on the back of the bass The emgs give a great punchy sound and the woods and hardware are top quality for this price range If you have any interesting four string trades, let me know or the price is £300, postage would be around £20 if needed These sell for around £580 online, this site has the technical info: http://www.guitarandampshop.co.uk/acatalog...ass_Guitar.html Thanks Andy
 21. This ends soon if anyone's interested?
 22.
The Rockbass range are nice enough basses 'at that price point' but you can't make any direct comparison between one of those and the German made thru-neck basses, so are you cutting your teeth on a lower price Warwick and preparing yourself for the top of the range models? Probably not! However that's just my opinion. If you are in the market to buy a £300 bass then I'd definitely try one next to say a similarly priced Ibanez, Squier, Washburn, Spector etc. but going from that to one of the expensive Warwick basses is a marked difference... and for the sake of stopping any potential flame-war, I'll stress that again: playing a £300 Rockbass will feel a lot 'different' than a top of the range NT bass NOT 'better' or £XXXX superior; just different.
Just looking at the Rockbass range on www.Thomann.de - it's very extensive! My Corvette Rockbass had active pickups and it had a nice bright tone, maybe not "the sound of wood" but a decent tone all the same Did I read somewhere that Warwick are not writing Rockbass on the headstocks of the new Rockbasses? Some of the online stock has and some don't....
