1. I'm thinking off buying an FNA or Fortress, I had a Corvette fretless Rockbass, a Corvette Standard and a Corvette $$ which were all great but I stopped playing for a couple of years and sold them on
  2. My first ebay purchase was a Warwick Corvette, which sold for much cheaper than all the others of a similar condition. What I didn't understand was that the sellers feedback was really bad, it was like 70% positive. When someone explained what feedback was all about I was really nervous, I paid about £270 using paypal and it took about two months to get the bass. I had almost convinced myself that I wasn't ever going to get this bass but luckily I did eventually. The seller didn't trust couriers as he was one and he delivered it to my workplace when he was next in the area.
  3. I've decided to sell on my Schecter five string and probably my defretted Yamaha BBN5 and get back to four string basses. Here's the link to the schecter: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=STRK:MESELX:IT
  4.
MB1. I've not previously seen a solid one colour bic before. Theyre usually multi coloured exotic woods, looks great! (very SB reminiscent) Sadowsky actually waterproof Mr Newsteads Basses! BUMP!
I read that article about Mr Newsted - didn't he test the Sadowskys by submerging them in salty water and then trying to play them. Gotta feel for his bass tech... BTW - lovely looking bass
  5.
You can't tune a low B 5 string set up to EADGC, you will need to get a set with a high C (usually .020 to .030 gauge) instead. IIRC the high C is slightly tighter than the low B, so you may need a little tweak on the the set up.
You don't know of a bass sting manufacturer who sells indiviual C strings? I was going to buy a four string set and then an indiviual C or light guage G?
  6.
If you're after a defretted (and fret-markered) 5string tuned E-C, that's what I got for ya http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=94843 cheap as chips, good for trying fretless out - it's not for everyone tastes.. easy Faith
That Ibanez GSR 205 looks really nice - I bought an old Yamaha BBN5 with a view to defret, retune and replace the pickups but your bass looks much better.
  7.
E-Bay, don't you love it! Despite me putting on an ad for my Stingray that I won't spip outside of the UK just had a bid from a Miguel in Spain!!!! I give up ;-)
Yeah like Silldx just said - you can specifiy what countries you will ship to and that way bids from Miguel or Pedro won't be accepted.
  8. I need a new nut for this bass anyway - just bought it and fancied defretting it and tuning it to EADGC. Thanks for the helpful advice
  9. I think Scott Ian played some bass tracks on the Anthrax album The sound of white noise
  10.
I dont think he played on anything Steve jones did it.
That'd make sense - there was one of the tracks had a decent rock n roll bass line and it sounds a bit too good for Sid
  11. If I tune my 5 string EADGC will it put any extra tension on the neck?
  12. There's a few tracks on The Sex Pistols - Rock n roll swindle album that sound a bit too good for Sid Vicious.
  13. I had my Biscayne bass fitted with an ebony fingerboard by a local bass tech and he replaced the truss rod as well. They're not the greatest basses but because it was my first bass I didn't want to get rid of it, at least this way I can try and get my fretless playing up to scratch (eventually)

I find Warwick red label strings to be great value for money, I've been using them for a while now on all my basses.
  15. Sounded great - I've had a bash at a few Maiden tracks, number of the beast/trooper/aces high/clairvoyant and each time I've struggled through each one I've had more respect for Steve Harris. Loved the sound of the accoustic on Blood on the worlds hands at the end of that vid. Watching Live after death and Cliff 'em all knda ingnited my love for bass playing back in the day.
  16. Good luck to you mate - take some time out and you might come back having missed it. Spending time with your family is important, they do grow up very fast
  17. Schecter Stiletto Custom five string £320 Trace Elliot 7215 combo £250 £570 in total
  18.
yeah, the barker assmaster is one of the best... just imagine some poor old dear walking out to get her son's xmas present and stopping someone in a guitar shop: "hello, my son gave me this list of pedals he wants for christmas, i'd like to look at your flanges, and what types of muff do you stock, russian muff, or american muff??? he also mentioned something about an assmaster"
flange - tee hee hee
  19.
A good friend of mine had a biscayne guitar. It was his first electric guitar, around 18 years ago. I think that was probably the worst guitar I have ever seen, at least regarding reliability. He usually had to stop playing after a bending or two to put the fret wires back into the fret slots, honestly.
I just did a google search on Biscayne bass and found my old thread - funny story Fraktal, I don't think the necks on these guitars were particularly reliable.
  20.
Ozzy's P.R.
I really enjoy all the eras of Black Sabbath Ozzy/Dio/Gillan/Hughes/Martin/Dio/Ozzy/Dio and the first two Ozzy albums but everything post Randy Rhoads I can take it or leave it.
  21.
We were only following orders... hmmm, heard that before alright Sometimes you've got to be a man, stand up for yourself, and do what you think is right. I've no doubt he would've been under pressure from the wicked witch to do what he did, but that still doesn't make it ok. Maybe he didn't have a problem with it at all? It was a sh*tty thing to do, a sh*tty scheme to be a part of and will always tarnish his legacy and I say this as someone who saw him with ST when they toured with M.O.D. in 89, used to have a lot of time for the guy. I wonder would you be so forgiving if Metallica released a bass-audible version of AJFA with him replacing Newsted? I imagine that'd make Lars happy
Yeah you have a good point there a re-recording of AJFA would be disgraceful, I suppose I've taken Rob's side in this argument cos I've been a fan of his since his Controlled By Hatred/Light Camera Revolution era in Suicidal and really admired his playing. But if I was in Bob Daisley's shoes I'd be furious with this back stabbing. I work in desktop publishing/data processing.....snore.....I know........ Now a remastered version of AJFA would be a different kettle of fish, they'll probably re-re-re-re-release the original version on 20 different shades of 180gram vinyl before that happens though.
  22.
You think he enjoyed replacing Daisley's parts and helping them screw him out of his royalties?
No, what but I'm guessing he did as he was told and this was one of those things you don't want to do but sometimes you have to sacrifice your principles
  23.
Hi Mate! You bought this from Dave from Newport Pagnell. I set it up for him - do you have a 'but it now'? Regards Col
Hiya Col, I did buy it from Dave from Newport Pagnell, had Hard Rock Music put a set of D'Addario strings on there, lowered the action and changed the grub screws in the bridge 'cos they were protruding out a little. I'd rather let the auction run it's course if it's all the same, I've got 20 people watching it already and it's only been on a few hours.
  24. Selling off a Yamaha RBX 550M bass that I bought specifically for a rock gig. I know there a some fans of vintage Yamaha gear on these boards so this might be of interest? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=STRK:MESELX:IT No reserve and cheap postage!
  25.
Yes.
Maybe you don't enjoy your job that much then, or you don't work for Sharon Osbourne Industries
