Lee came to meet me ''half way'' to do the bass trade. Perfect communication, decent gentleman. I would highly recommend to anyone. A member of a lovely family too! Thank you Lee, hope to deal with you again.
Well, I am not a pickup expert, it doesn't say Lakland on them but as far as I know the bass is all original (except for the pickguard and pickup screws) and they look like that underneath https://www.talkbass...age-jpg.641207/ I hope that helps. Thank you for your interest. They should be ''New Lakland Hybrid Split Pickups''. -
Hmmm I had my doubts when the original seller assured me it was 8.2lb! Really appreciate you taking the time and I'm sure this'll find a settled home soon. .
Yeah, that doesn't sound right! No problem at all man, thank you for the kind words. Hello, I have for sale lovely Lakland precision bass with jazz neck in black. Bass has been cleaned and set up nicely. Fully working order. The truss rod works fine and the neck is straight. Currently set up with fairly low action. Sounds really cool. Specifications here: https://www.lakland....4-64-custom.htm I will consider trade/partial trade offers. Photos can be found here: http://s86.photobuck...w=recent&page=1 Thank you for looking.
Wow! What a bass I always say of how Yamaha basses are better than Fender and this surely must be prime example! I've played a late 70's/very early 80's pbass and quality is everywhere in touch, feel and sound. Someone is bound to snap this up asap.
Thank you. It is true. Obviously, opinions vary and some people would always go to the ones that say ''Fender'' on the headstock. And that is understandable. But it is interesting how many people say that Japanese instruments from 70's were most of the time better than American Fender. And that is not just Yamaha but also Greco, Fernandes, Tokai, Kasuga, Aria... There are a lot of top quality instruments from that era. And the difference in price is noticeable :-)

Now 450GBP Hello everyone, Most of you probably know the quality of Yamaha and Japanese instruments in general, so I won't go into too much detail (as I probably know less than you). Few dings/imperfections can be found on the bottom of the body and the headstock, but nothing major. It is in incredible condition for it's age. The guy I bought it from said it was 1978. It has copper tape shielding inside which makes it very quiet. Doesn't buzz at all. Really cool, warm sound but can be quite bright if needed. Professionally set up, ready to go. Body: Ash Neck: Maple Fingerboard: Maple Pickups: Alnico The neck is slightly smaller than normal Precision. The bass is really easy to play. Almost slippery neck. Weight - 4.2kg/9.2lb I have a spare cardboard box, so postage can be arranged. More photos available on request. I will consider interesting trade offers - Precision of similar quality but with rosewood on the neck preferably. PLEASE NOTE: The Canto bag has one of the zips stuck, the other one still works, so you can easily put the bass in and take it out with no problems. So, I will go with the metal polish for the bridge and volume knobs. Contact cleaner for electronics, steel wool (not against the grain) for fretboard and then mixture of oils meant for that. Will also take the bass to the local shop to get some advice on the condition of the frets. That should do the job. Thank you for your help everyone.
A little. But don't worry.
Great, so we got the worry out of the way - please explain how so I can avoid to do so in the future. In the meantime, I will change the topic to "help a foreign newbie" :-)
You'd better not take the bass out of its case after all this!
Hahaha, it's like that in every area of life. People have opinions and different ways to do stuff. But the bass is the most precious though, am I right? So, I believe there should be a guide of dos and donts for the most common materials used on our instruments. At the end of the day, I'm only thoroughly cleaning the bass to bring it back to its full potential, not building a new one!
Sorry I spoke
What do you mean? I dont quite get it (English is not my first language) - did I offend you?
Your bass will be minty fresh?
Thats the idea I guess. More crispy high end with that freshness. Apparently it works as well as metal polish. I havent tried it so i dont have an opinion.
