I thought he puts tape on the pole pieces sometimes to stop it reacting when he hits the strings with his “percussive ghost notes”, but I’m not not sure about that. I’ve seen him do it on a P bass too.

Flatwound strings.. what make/model recomnended?
PawelG replied to Chrisbassboy5's topic in General Discussion
TI’s and Labella 760FL are my favourites for a P bass. TI’s for jazz bass too. Chromes are also great, but I didn’t like the 50-110 version. So yeah, Thomastik 🙂 -
This is a good start I think. Then search the web for some more 🙂 https://youtu.be/72_zXigcOrA https://youtu.be/peYcNm3JTe8

Why is it not good?

I have purchased this brand new shortly before Christmas (has 2 or 3 year warranty from the manufacturer). It’s exactly what you’d expect - great, clean tone with plenty of headroom. I’ve only used it a couple of times at rehearsals, it’s virtually brand new with maybe 15h playing time in total. I’m only selling it as I don't need as much power at the moment. I still have the original box, so postage is not a problem. From Aguilar themselves: Power Output: 700 watts @ 2.67 or 4 ohms, 350 watts @ 8 ohms Preamp Section: Solid State Power Section: Class D Transformer: Switching mode power supply (SMPS) EQ Section: Bass: +/- 17 dB @ 40 Hz Deep: +6 dB <250 Hz Low Mid: +/- 15 dB @ 300 Hz High Mid: +/- 14dB @ 800 Hz Treble: +/- 14 dB @ 4 kHz Bright: +6 dB >3 kHz, shelving -10dB input pad Tuner output Inputs: One 1/4″ input jack, compatible with all active and passive basses Speaker Outputs: Two Neutrik Speakon speaker outputs Effects Loop: Series operation. Adds 6 dB of additional gain, making it useful for a broad range of effects units Balanced Output: XLR balanced output with pre/post EQ and ground lift switch Cooling: Two high-quality whisper fans with thermal speed control Dimensions: 12″ W x 9″ D x 3″ H Weight: 4.9 lbs

I bought this cab from @silverfoxnik few months back, here's the original thread: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/325847-sold-bergantino-ae212-cover-sold/?tab=comments#comment-3536237 The cab is really great sounding and portable. Works best with amps with 500-1000W at 4Ohm. Comes with a tatty cover but it does the job. Postage or delivery within reason could be worked out - please PM me for details. Description from Bassdirect: •2 x 12" Custom Neodymium drivers with 7 oz magnets •high intelligibility 1" tweeter •custom phase - coherent crossover with tweeter level control •power handling - 600 watts rms •frequency response: 40hz - 15khz •sensitivity: 103 db @ 1 Watt/1 meter •2 x 1/4" and 2 x neutrik connectors •impedance: 4ohms •dimensions: 31"H x 18-1/2"W x 15"D •78cm x 47cm x 38cm •weight: 55lbs/25 Kgs •Padded/fitted cover £60

http://www.21frets.com/ And yes, they really are that good. Especially, the P basses.
-
The seller said he bought it at a car boot sale 8-10 years ago for... £80!
-
I bought it last night. The seller demanded cash on collection rather than PayPal through eBay - weird. Avoiding fees perhaps?Anyway, nice 24/06/83 JV, almost twin to my main P Bass. Everything looks legit down to the little “Fender piece of paper for the neck shim” stamped “6/83”. Well, couple of pickguard screws and the knobs are not original... One of the nicest necks I’ve seen on a JV and surprisingly good nick comparing to the body. It does need a bit of work and isn’t really the cleanest bass I’ve seen, but it’s to be played, not sold. So... I doubt it’ll be back at double the price 🙂

Some music just sounds best in the car!

Or AC/DC! -
I think in the long run a 5 string makes the most sense. And it's a reason to get another bass which is great.
-
I’m looking into that.
-
Ha, yes - sounds great but I need it for literally 40 seconds of one song, so thought pedal was the best option. Or I will have to get a 5 string...

Is there a pedal that would drop my tuning by a whole tone? If so, which ones are worth looking at? I’d like something that doesn’t change the tone much, just drop the E string (tuner to D) to C on a 4 string.
