Absolutely appalling live performances ...
Soliloquy replied to Sawtooth's topic in General Discussion
My niece was watching some awful American programme the other day. It was supposedly live, and featured some horrendously talented youngster. Someone should have explained to her that when lip synching, keep the microphone pointed at your mouth. -
Tell you what is fantastic practice. All you need is your bass, some manuscript paper, a pen, the track and some spare time. Listen to it, listen to it again, and keep on listening to it. Work out what the chords are first of all, intro, verse chorus etc. From the chords you'll be able to work out the bass line. The more you do it, the easier it'll become. Write it out in standard notation, use other transcriptions to help you write the part out.

This was delivered Tuesday and has only been out of the box for about 15 minutes. It's perfect and is complete with all packaging etc. I was going to buy an RH450 which has a built in tuner, so I sold my Korg Pitchblack on here last week. I ended up buying a Markbass F1 instead, so I needed a new tuner and bought this. I've today bought a Sonic Research Turbo Tuner which is an amazing thing. I don't need two tuners so I'm selling this one. I'd like £55 for it, and I'll include postage.

Yeah, mine gets pretty warm on the outside, just after 4 or 5 hours home practice. Warm though not hot .
Go buy a laptop bag mate!! - They're designed to give maximum protection - and because the F1 is so skinny, it will fit in practically any decent laptop bag. Speaking of which, I have a bag big enough to carry my laptop, F1, leads and recording interface all safely in one! - which means I can record pretty much anywhere and travel light too! Now if Hartke were to make a lil amp....
Thanks !

This one ? http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...z_Gig_Bags.html Or this one ? http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...s/MB_GB_TC.html There's a big difference in the prices, which is best for protection and pockets etc ?
I got mine from the Bass Merchant.
I tried them, they're out of stock. -
I just bought a TC RS210 cab. It's a real beauty, I love the style and the sound is great. I want to get a padded cover for it, to try and keep it looking nice. Everywhere seems to be out of stock of the official TC cover though. Anyone know of somewhere that has them in ? I got to say I really prefer carpet covering, but I guess it'd be a bit hard to cover this cab with carpet.

I really shouldn't worry too much about it. Why not start your own band ? Then you get to choose who you play with .
Or you could use ABM monorails http://www.thomann.de/gb/abm_3710c_single_bass_bridge.htm You can vary the string spacing from about 15mm to infinity, but there's little lateral adjustment when they're fitted plus it's difficult to drill the body and get all six lined up perfectly. I prefer the sound of a single piece high mass bridge over monorails, they maybe lack a bit of punch but they bring out the sound of the bass more, and are available with piezos too.
They're similar to what's on my Overwater 6. A great idea, makes string changing really quick and easy.
I want the Erskine Signature, thats the one for me! And the tronics VM and I'd be sorted for life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mGyEtHU1Bg
That really is a beautiful bass. I've lusted after one of those for a couple of years now.

The old Trace stuff is brilliant . Heavy though, I bought a 4x10 last year. It sounded amazing, but it was too heavy for skinny me. I've never played through a cab like this. But it was the 'classic' rig wasn't it ? I remember seeing Tony butler playing with Big Country on the Tube, using two 4x10's and two of these. See it here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-fl_VzKVmQ

I have individual saddles on my Overwater which are nice. You have the option of through body or normal stringing. The normal stringing is great, very fast, the ball ends just drop into place. On my Sei I've got an ABM bridge which is really cool, you can adjust the string spacing as well as the height and intonation etc.

I love his playing on the first Sting solo album.
I understand that. The problem is that in the last year, there has been ONE six string that I've found between Stirling, Glasgow and Edinburgh and it took months to show up. It was an Ibanez SR506, which I actually found a lot nicer to play than my five string. There seems to be a lot more 8 string guitars around here than 6 string basses
It's odd, but I find a 6 nicer to play than a 5.

I had a Marleaux recently, you could adjust the string spacing on that at the bridge. So buying something with an adjustable bridge may be something to look at, or change the bridge.
