  1. hiho, having used a mb450 head and peavey cabs for a few years now I have had no bother whatsoever apart from changing the pre-amp valve in the classic channel. Very loud and it has it,s own sound.
  2. hiho,I,ve got a roland as well-db700 and it is a fabulous amp. great sound ,no noise and very versititle.
  3. hiho, musicman sub is what your after.
  4. hiho,mb 450 head-2 x 4 ohm cabs and a behringer bdi pedal-sorted,peavey cabs are good,heavy but bullet proof
  5. hiho,if you want a good sound out a ricky then get a good amp n cab/s and a sansamp-sorted
  6. hiho, wizards I,m afraid-give Andy a phone and have a talk to hin and he will sort you out at very good prices and very fast delivery
  7. hiho,It seems to me that the heads are pretty good and reliable and the combo,s but the cabs are pants, that,s a no brainer to rectify if you don,t mind not having matching logos on your cabs. Old peaveys for me ,never missed a beat
  8. I forgot to add that the cabs I use are good old peavey 2x 10s,maybe not the best sounding(sound fine to me) but bullet proof reliable and solid made . For the price the head is good value and so far reliable.
  9. yup 33 1/4" if i remember right, anyway i jump from ricky to musicman,p-bass,t/bird and don,t notice the difference in scale length.I do notice how far away F is on t/bird though and the G tuner
  10. go grab a sub,a real musicman
  11. hiho, not the keyboard one but the bass one -brilliant and there is a few on here that like them as well
  12. I,ve had problems in the past with ashdown not punching their weight ,simple -get rid
  13. here you go-roland db700 or the newer one s/h a mini mixer and a behringer bdi21 and bobs yer ice cream cone me old teapot. I could also add a hartke bass attack.
  14. hiho, having been a peg man for years I broke out years ago and discovered roland then for a bigger rig I got a mb450 head and 2 2x10 cabs. Best move I,ve made-totally underated. Never had a problem apart from changing the pre amp valve when I got it.Got to agree thunderbird and a marshall but have to add-ricky,musicman and a p-bass heavily hot rodded to the mix. Plug in a ricky and bobs yer teapot,P or a musicman-glorious,thunderbird,growllin thunder. Love them to bits and for smaller gigs, practice roland, wish they had made a 450 watt version as they are seriously loud and have a tone to die for, mind you they do a powered extension cab but for the price go for the marshall head and go the 2x10 route which makes it easier to lug about and you have the option of one cab, small gig 2 cabs lets shake the foundations.
  15. [attachment=54397:DSCN3634.JPG] just thought a photo was the ticket of these much unloved darlings would be nice. Neckdive -shift the strap button, leather strap with suede back(inside bit on shoulder) and what are you talking about -fixed I,m glad people like marmite basses just goes to show that we all are individuals and not Dolly the sheep
  16. Hiho,got get one floyd,nothing like them
  17. hiho,I,ve gotta epi pro 4 the set up was to put it mildly rubbish but I set them up myself so no problems apart from a bit of time. It is now nicely set up and plays very well thank you. It might be me but the maple through neck makes a difference, different feel to the bolt ons and the neck is slim all the way like a ricky but slimmer. Sound wise it,s a bird alright but more not zingy like a stingray and not complex and rich like a ricky and not fendery either. It has it,s own voice which with the active circuit makes it a good all rounder. Upper fret acess ,well if you spend your time above the 15 fret a lot of the time then maybe a baritone is where you should be. Set up problems -high 8th fret-dressed -too much relief on neck-loosen truss rod -nut too high-stoned height off the bottom of the brass nut, keeping profile the same -readjust saddles for string height The new bridge is a winner, big improvement on the 3 point effort I do like it and it fits in well with my other basses There has been quiet a bit of interest on this one
  18. I,ve got one and I have changed the pup, bridge and tuners but it was good for the price standard.
  19. give Andy a shout at wizard pick ups,he,ll sort you out
  20. HI, i noticed fast fret wear with the standard strings right away but I was aware of this from posts on the net about the standard strings. I changed them quickly to rotosound 66,s and now I can see where the frets have worn shiny flats on the contact area of the frets on the strings now. Softer strings might be a good idea,I,ve heard that DR-hi beams are softer. The alternative if you feel confident is to replace them with quality fret wire-dunlop jumbos or medium, whatever floats yer boat. I would have no problems with doing the work because this one is a keeper and they last for so long it,s a one time fix unless you get cheap chinese strings. I have had this issue with another bass of mine, accelerated fret wear in front of your eyes with these cheapo strings-you get what you pay for. hope this helps
  21. great bass in it,s own right, glad I jumped on one when they come out,I would love a black one but apart from that I,m keepin mine.
  22. hiho, sounds like you need a sansamp/behringer clone to get the gritty sound your after-plenty of drive and presence. check the level knob by switching off and on and balance the level. other ones are mxr 80,hartke bass attack, radial tonebone. Most of these double as a di box as well and are great for recording. You can go direct to the PA if your amp/cabinet blows at a gig.Geddy lee goes direct to the PA when playing with rush and his sound isn,t shabby.
  23. hi,get some springs out of biro pens and mount them on the screws, get ones the same length, work a treat
  24. grey dunlops .73 ideal for the fast stuff .88 can get sore after a few hours, very grippy and never drop them
  25. I have done a few gigs with this now and I do a few tunes in drop d and it really thunders down tuned.
