  2. Hiho welcome to the world of Rickenbacker. Orange does it for me.Stick a BDI21 in front of amp and away you go.
  3. Dunlop super bright steels for me for everything.
  4. hiho,Long term OTB500 user .I use an SP212 for small spaces at gigs and practice and an OBC 115. i have used other cabs but nothing beats the Orange ones IMO.. i USE THE obc115 most of the time now but I used the SP212 for years on it,s own but I have the option of using both cabs if needed which gives a huge sound. They are very underated amps but there is a lot of happy users .Our dirty little secret.
  5. Hiho,Wee bit off thread but I have experience with AD200 and a lot i experience with OTB500. Orange has it,s own sound ,itsa marmite thing but they go very loud and if you like the sound ,get the toast on. ps,they sound great with an OBC115 or two..
  6. Hiho,1 is enough for me in almost all occasions
  7. OBC 115 or 2 simple as.I usually use just the one but have a SP212 as back up for small spaces and use both if needed which is rare.
  8. Ah Paul Roden still there-good guy.
  9. Hiho ,my tupence worth-Wizard Thumper doea the biz
  10. Hiho, get a usa peavey foundation ,big bang for buck.
  11. Hiho,I,ve been using Dunlop super brights steels for s couple of years now and they last.
  12. Hiho, have you considered an Orange Terror Bass 500 head and an OBC115 cab.You could get a good deal S/H. Either that or the hartke lm500 and a hydrive 15 or 2 n maybe the hydrive 12,s. I have had and used Hartke stuff before and it,s pretty good especially for the price and they don,t hang back with volume either.
  13. playing drones with the open G string up the neck
  14. Here,s an idea whit aboot an 8 string Foundation with super ferrites
  15. Hiho,I have a wizard thumper in my P.frankenstein, here,s what Andy from Wizard told me about the Thumper. It,s got a good output,if you pull back the volume to about 8.5 it,s like a P but max volume and it,s like 11 with added presence.Pull back the tone and the added presence cuts back and it goes goes big fat thumping which lets you know there is a lot of bottom end. That,s the basics of the conversation and yup that,s what it does.Andy also mentioned that the controls are more usable for different sounds.
  16. Hiho,stick a BDI21 in front of an OTB500 and job done
  17. Aye that,s what I wis thinking so it may be I,m after a Millenium in see through black wi the maple neck then. Question -what do these sound like passive. Bit off the OP but hey.I,m thinking of super ferrites in a Rickenbacker as well.
  18. [attachment=239006:orange.jpg] [attachment=239006:orange.jpg]Hiho,I love my OBC115 special edition 2009 in white. Here,s a wee story-I was after a small rig that was one hand lift, loud and sounded good. I ended up with a Terror 500 head and SP212 cab and played that for 3 years.I quiet fancied another SP212 cab to go with this but along came the OBC115 for a great price. I use the OBC115 most of the time now space allowing or the SP212 if space is tight and sometimes both together. Never been happier with my sound. They can go seriously loud but they sound so good. I think the OBC115 sounds better then the 410 but that,s me. Two 15,s would be outrageous but it would be good. Orange head n Orange cab way to go
  19. [attachment=239000:peaveys.jpg] You are a bad man. Next is a black body, maple neck n black headstock if it exists
  20. Hiho I have jonjo boltons Foundation now and after a wee tweek to suit me and sort out the scratchy, stiff pots it,s a cracker. Great basses and well built,I have an 84 sunburst as well and these old basses get gigged a lot and they are completely stable and the fit and finish has stood the test of time. They also sound very good and once you set them up -it,s plug in and play.
  21. Hiho,It sounds big n beefy with loads of volume.I love the sound and quiet happily play with one cab most of the time but when a bit more welly is needed then I,m sorted. The sound goes very big with 2 cabs at 4 ohm which is awesome, don,t know if changing the ohmage does anything for sound or it,s the speaker area but it,s huge.Trick with a Terror head is getting the EQ right.
  22. [attachment=238377:orange.jpg] doesn,t bother me
  23. Hiho ,you could fit a noiseless fan as well.
