    Thank you guys.

I'm definitely not selling it for £100 :)

yep, that other guy was trying to rip you off.

I'll give you a very fair price for it, like $250 :)

I've always had the idea of having a rotatable bit added to small combos or cabs which would allow the neck to be rested up against it without risk of it sliding away. As in, the bass sits on the floor leaning against the amp, but this just provides a groove for the neck to sit in. When not in use it can be spun round so it sits flush against the top of the cab or bass.

I'm sure that's a real thing, but if not, someone should make it!

I've seen a silicon neck rest that sits on any flat surface and keeps the neck upright.

Frustration for me is that I can't get a cd written on my PC to play in the car; some of these songs I want to hear over and again.

what about one of those cig lighter fm transmitters that u can plug a usb stick/ipod/phone into that xmits to your car radio?

Saturday Night's All Right for Fighting - a simple structure but the bass seems to be so raucous and varied I've decided to use this one as my opportunity to improvise and throw in whatever fills and runs I feel like, there's just one distinctive chromatic run I want to get right - the tab doesn't sound quite right, but it might be my lack of familiarity with the song.

yeah that is a killer bassline. and it's all over the fretboard. I reckon just get the feel of the song, ANY note you hit is only a fret away from the right one :)

If there is a part you are stuck on, lemme know I might be able to remember it, it's been a while but I had it down pretty well.

  4. I've been playing originals mostly since 1980.

I've recorded on the ubiquitous Tascam Portastudio cassette recorders, and in some nice recording studios on 2" tape, to home recording on a pc at the moment.

One thing has remained throughout all these methods.

The minute, nay the SECOND you commit to a take, your brain has already come up with a slightly better bassline, but it won't let you know til the very next rehearsal :)

Loads of new original material for a new band. Really happy with my ability to learn new parts (been making up my own for last few years), and surprised myself at getting my fingers around some fairly compley bits where bass plays unison with guitar. Looking forward to first rehearsal on Tuesday.

yes, nothing beats playing originals. I love the feeling when you write a bassline that is more than roots-third-fifth-octave, though some or all of the aforementioned are used , of course.

are you going to be recording anything soon? I'd like to hear you.

I've found that if I do the popping thing on my P bass that wears Elixirs, then it's a waste of effort and is lost in the mix, if I do the same with the P with D'addarios or Highbeams, all is good.

and Stainless Steels over Nickels for brightness and clank

  7. Fart oo many

6 basses, 9 straps, at least. I've got a nice padded leather one for my Fender Am Std and am slowing buying the same strap with different colour upholstery backing for the others.

I've recently installed the Diablo Twist Lock strap pins so once a strap is on it's staying on

  8. kind of an ambiguous question, depends on how long your songs are.

we have 6:30 songs, and a 2:30 song with many in between. we have 28 songs , all original. We plan our sets accordingly.

We have 2 songwriters so we try and alternate between them as they sing their own songs.

Got some 3 band shows coming which I love, we do one set of 45 mins, easy peasy,we switch songs regularly according to loudness of gig. We go from all acoustic to rock band mode.

Opps. forgot to say, 10 songs for a 45er

  9. a pic would help, but yes, raise the pickup on that side and / or lower the string height,as applicable.

how old and what gauge strings are they? they can easily go dead if you pop em hard a lot.

failing that, use a compressor, but that is not ideal. You want a naturally even volume across all strings.

is it just a case of turning it anti clockwise until the nut feels loose?

I'm thinking a full turn or two would suffice

  11. my 2 cents.

It's OK to ask questions about weight, hardware etc, but if you think it's way over or under priced, I feel a PM is best here.

saying "Gorgeous bass, GLWTS" is fine too.

No pointing out that your Jazz is better than the P for sale, it's not on.

Coming in just to say you hate that bass or amp is not on either

Nor is it OK to comment on an effects for sale ad "I don't use effects" lol, yet people do

  12. you wonder at their thought processes sometimes.

I had a parcel delivered from interstate. Of COURSE they deliverred during the one hour I wasn't home. They contacted the sender to ask where he wants it deliverred, "errm to the same address". I went online and requested redelivery without signature.

Three days later and sender gets a message they are returning it to him. He responds asking why, when we both asked for redelivery without signature.

A WEEK later and they finally understood what "redelivery without signatue" meant.

I was home when they redeliverred it, bastard didn't even knock on the door.

    Took two weeks.
