play with adults I mean people near or over 50. I love my current bandmates. Democracy. We all pitch in,we all look for gigs, we all enjoy each others company..... We ALL listen to each other, give room to shine to each member and never overplay. I'm giving them all a hug tomorrow after reading these kinds of posts hehe
Who was the successful million selling guitarist you are quoting?
John Brewster, of The Angels

You're only as good as your drummer pt.27

everytime our drummer goes to hit his cowbell........... it MOOOOOOOOOOOOOves -
The Law of Bass n = B + 1 n is optimal number of basses B is number of basses currently owned. You can't argue the maths

yeah good to share good experiences as well as the bad ones. bassstringsonline.com are also great to deal with. As for manufacturers, Hipshot have excellent customer service I bought a used bridge and needed to source the teensy tiny allen key for the saddle screws. Hipshot sent me seven from the USA to Oz for free! I repeat, I bought it used, a year earlier lol
Chuck used standard tuning as far as I'm aware.
I think I'll take the word of a successful million selling guitarist who played on a whole tour with Chuck over someone on a forum who never played with him, no offence

and Pans Dancers? next they'll remake Benny Hill lol oh dear...... but the best show, was.....the..... Nana Mouskouri Show, quality right there !

my take on being in a band is that we are a team. The drummer has many more trips to make from his car to load in and out and we always help him without needing to be asked. And likewise with PA. The ones that don't know how to set it up lug it in while I set everything up, as usual I've been in bands where a guitarist will set his 50w combo in the middle of the stage, run his cables to his pedalboard, set up his guitar and go get a drink and chat up the ladies. But not for long.........

It could be because they're trying to play his licks with E standard tuning I'm reading a bio of an Aussie band, The Angels, who were Chuck's band for a down under tour in the late 70s. On setting up the guitarist tried Chuck's guitar, realised it was way out of tune and tuned it up for Chuck. Chuck couldn't play it, he had to retune it, I'm guessing to an open G chord like Keef does.
If you were having to keep tightening the Dunlop ones to the strap as they kept coming loose then they weren't Dunlops! Just sayin' as they say
oh yeah Dunlops have the circlip? musta been a different brand, anyhow I got Grolsch type rubber washers from a homebrew shop dirt cheap.

Best in rubbish band or worst in great band?
bazzbass replied to T-Bay's topic in General Discussion
playing with better musicians is the most rewarding experience, if you can cope with the insecurity. My lead guitarist is a great musician, can play anything, well. When we started recording our originals, I recorded my bass part on my own after the other parts, no drummer at the time. Of course I wanted my recording to show off my skills as a bassist, and I overplayed. The guitarist replied with "Too busy, we KNOW you can play, you don't have to prove it to us". I immediately relaxed and played what the song needed, some songs very bassic lines, other times as busy as I could get, play what the song needs, not what your ego thinks you should play. -
straplocks are the biggest con ever. I had some Dunlops and had to keep tightening the straplock onto the strap.....well if I have to do that every time what's different from checking that the strap is on properly? idiotic Grolsch type rubber washer does it for me, plus you get to drink a nice beer

Mooer Pure Boost is what you want, tiny footprint, boosts really well with no distortion and has eq controls too.

In the 80s and 90s I always had my Peavey TNT on a milk crate, I knew nuthin about bass coupling, but knew it was too boomy on the floor and I couldn't hear myself. The crate fixed that. I stored all my cables etc in it so it had two uses. I don't know if they even still make milk crates, I played on many a pub 'stage' made up of a few milk crates with plywood sheets on top, high tech indeed.

no I'm not calling you a spammer, just having some fun MySpace was a precursor to facebook , sort of

work out what you want to know, then find a way to verbalise it so we can understand
But on a two-pickup bass one pickup will always be closer to the bridge and the other closer to the neck. To me a "front" pickup would be the one closest on one of the ends of the bass - i.e. the bridge pickup.
well you are in the minority, so you are either a genius or a fool, and I am in no position to judge which one so, when you put yout bass down, do you put in in the stand headstock down? coz that is the only way you could think the bridge pup is the front
Yes, pokies advertised everywhere confused me when I arrived in Adelaide from Perth. But gambling is not permitted in Western Australia- god bless it!
I don't think that is correct. For one thing they have a huge casino anti-gambling is non Australian lol

when you make your first mistake, and you will, we all do, DON'T look like a startled rabbit in the spotlight. Play on as if nothing happened. Sometimes I even repeat the 'mistake' so people think it was on purpose, like "jazz" hehe

Hotmail? I bet you still use MySpace lol sorry, couldn't resist. I thought only spammers used hotmail, seriously.
I just had to check what year we were in. Are you for real? The dancer were wearing costumes. Looking is one thing, shouting lewd comments and whistling is something totally different. It's called respect, having respect for another persons feelings, not making them feel uncomfortable.
it is 2017, I thought we were past using women as sex objects. So why are they wearing undies dancing sexy? aren't there better roles for women in rock apart from looking sexy and dancing like a stripper? Like maybe women musicians and singers? Do feminists think it ok for a band to have sexy female dancers? what year do YOU live in? are we back to Benny Hill dancers days?
-
those dancers could've worn long skirts or pants if they didn't want people ogling them, seriously. they show their ass cheeks and dance sexy, how could they possibly complain. If you're gonna show me, I'm gonna look. If you don't want me looking, don't show me. all dancers now dance like strippers.

A Mooer pedal fits in your pocket. A Pure boost has eq so you could boost and have a different eq for your solo. Other ones like the Bassballs have grit.

well you never had a chance with headphones. headphones sounds different than through your rig at home which sounds different than your rig in a venue which is different than your rig in a half filled venue, which sounds different than your rig in a full venue....... it's really hard to dial in effects. I have the same problem, my 'tone' is there when I play thru my yammy monitors at home, but even at rehearsal with my rig it sounds worse. Yet to try it live, two weeks to go, YIKES !!!
My recollection of gigging in the 80s is that if someone had a chorus pedal they were probably regarded as a bit too techy.
yep, I used a Boss Phaser in the 80s, Chorus was too "guitaristy"
