1. In Oz beer comes in cartons, but we have milk crates. I've played on many a stage made of plywood sheeting over a dozen milk crates. Hardware stores sell collapsible crates, the height is about 18 inches, roughly. they stack as well I think.
2. there is probably a very good reason why he is no longer a 'pro' .........I think we know what that is hehe
3. as it's a house cat, not feeding it for a few weeks should stop that behaviour.
4. email Jason at bassstringsonline.com what he doesn't know about bass strings is not worth knowing
5. you want a mono bass amp. Pretty sure most of them are mono..... buy a small bass amp, plenty of them out there, TE Elf, Markbass Nano etc
6. I don't understand, has the head lost it's power section or do you want more power from it? run the effects out from your head into your amp.this will give you the sound of your amp but with more power. I hope this is what you were after
7.
The manual suggests that the DI switch must be in the GND position for Phantom Power to work. I'm sure you'll have tried it, but in case you haven't..
lol what if you get a Ground loop? sorry folks, show's cancelled lol
8. Our drummer is a pensioner, the rest of us are not far behind. Singer: "I forgot the opening line" Me: "I'll give you a clue....YOU WROTE IT "
9.
Great idea....You might want to think about selling some on eBay - oh no, somebody beat you to it... http://www.ebay.co.u...bQAAOSwX61ZC4CF
curiously, can also be used to wash dishes lol
10.
It's useful to have a load of familiar bass cases hanging around in various rooms in the house - for stealth purposes. Some of 'em may have basses in them, some of them may not, who knows..??
that bass honey, THAT one? err my friend Phil asked me to do a setup on it for him. Yeah and that one too .....
11. I think lots of gigging musicians in New York use public transport, read plenty of stories on TB from them. Our 'public' transport is run by corporations now, so no bus runs when or where you need it to. Only profit making routes are supported by more than one bus an hour lol.
12. Interested to hear how these home made packs go I bought the Joyo battery, exactly the same as the Mooer one. Had it for 2-3 years now, never missed a beat
13. bad idea, the open end of each string will be too fat to wind on the tuner and will probably start to unwind, coz you're gonna cut the string at it's centre, the thickest part
14. I'm assuming the amplug is breaking at the plug end, right? why not make / buy a male to female 1/4" cable so the amplug doesn't get abused ?
15. I just bought "Guitar for Dummies" I'm already up to page four, can I join your band? I'm gonna be really good, I just KNOW it
16. Bobby and Billy maybe you'll make it one day...... But life goes on, you know it ain't easy You've just gotta be strong If you're one of the sixteens
17.
All good points. However, I would want to see imediate bookings as well as booking extending well into 2018. Blue
I am unfamiliar with both those terms I am just starting playing out after a 22 year break. I am literally starting from scratch coz none of my contacts from 1995 are still involved hehe. Gone are the glory days of having a few frothies with the bar manager while booking one of my bands, now it's all via email, sigh.
18. it would always be Rush minus 1 either play as Rush with a new drummer, or do seperate solo projects
19. Im assuming that the band is a cover band coz original bands get neither gigs nor money hehe I know this from 38 years experience, sigh So, I would check which agency (ies) they're going through and the gig guides to gauge if they are playing good-paying gigs. I'd ask my network of musos about them, in my city you can't fart without every muso hearing about it troll through old gig guides if possible to see what gigs they had most likely they won't have upcoming gigs if they're recruiting, but you never know, if they are go check em out anonymously. that's all I got for now
20. my band in little old Adelaide wants to organise a 5 day tour of New York city can someone suggest 5 or 6 suitable clubs within walking distance of a cheap hotel?
21.
How bizarre is all this? I get the impression that a number of posters on this thread don't actually have children. The only answer that will actually get you anywhere is, "What/who do you like listening to? Fine, play along with that then." If I'd asked my father what to listen to if I wanted to hear great basslines, I'd have spent the next 20 years listening exclusively to Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra. Your kids don't want to listen to "your" music. That's part of being your kids.
your choice of music must suck then, get off your high horse, who said only people with kids can comment? I've brought up a kid, he loved my music, he wanted to be like me, you must be doing something wrong lol
22.
to a man we all decided to hit the road and get a hot chocolate at the services as it was goin to be a long drive. I knew then I`d found the right band. Whereas the rock band I`d just left, well lets say the rest of them would have partied all night with her.
Rock and Roll dude, what can I say, hand in your bass now, retire to the old folk's home only stirring, my band would do the same, our pensioner drummer likes band practice from 7 til 9pm the latest hehe
23. Deep Purple's Child in Time with a great organist and singer. hairs on the back of the neck sticking up kinda stuff
24. you bought the wrong mixer, unlucky. I still reckon a Tascam or Zoom portable 4 track recorder with two in built condensors and a stereo out from the PA might be your best bet given your budget limitations. They get a pretty good even live mix imho. You can mix their levels and panning later within the device. I have the Tascam DR 40
