1. I have both versions of the VT and love them. I have a PBBDI v1 and the scooped mids can be averted with correct use as per the manual. The VT is better imho. I also have an MXR M80 and don't like it's OD much I have the B7K and find it noisy currently just using my Tech21 Bass Fly Rig. kinda has the vt sound to my damaged hearing.
2. no hurry, if cashies over there is like the ones down under, your amp will be priced 50 quid below brand new price hehe hope you get it back, I'm sure you will
3. a picture is worth many words, maybe as many as a thousand, imho ymmv
4. nobody ever votes for Australia, it's like you Europeans don't think we belong there
5. happy birthday, belatedly awesome cake, obviously THAT is the best cake for metal
6. yeah but what he got was cheaper As Buzz Aldrin realised whilst sitting atop Apollo 11."every single part in this rocket ship went to the lowest bidder"
7. I keep a spare bass and amp in my car. I also take a spare car, with another spare bass and amp.........
8. wear only unserwear and imagine the crowd looking at you, or something like that best of luck
9. thank you I'm happy and sad at the same time There are things you can do with a headless that you can't do with a Fender. My dear departed bandmate used to stand in front of me , trapping me between the pub wall and the drums at gigs and drop the worst smelling farts ever created by humans. He'd stand there long enough for me to be choking on his foul emissions. THEN I got the B2A. I could just give his back a shove with the end of the neck without fear of going out of tune In fact it never went out of tune, stretching the string instead of wrapping it around a post is far more stable, tuning -wise
10. The Beatles and Led Zeppelin, they didn't last long enough for me to see them, well, I DID see the Beatles outside the Adelaide Town Hall amongst 200,000 others in 64 ..... OK seriously, Sugar with Bob Mould . They brought out a killer album and then I never heard them again
11. I have three Fenders , an SX and an ABG. I usually play my MIA P, but whenever I use my MIM P, I am amazed at how close it is to the MIA. The neck is as slim as the MIA, it sounds the same. I don't even mind the white pickguard. Then I play my Jazz and wow, different but tasty. But why are we surprised when we go back to an old friend, I mean we bought it because it felt right at the time, right ?
12. no idea but I want one too now
13. OP they are also referred to as noise-cancelling jazz pups or noise cancelling humbucking jazz pups
14.
better change the name of scunthorpe then, wouldnt want to upset anyone
about 30 years ago, someone sprayed the C word on our stadium's outside wall then someone added the S....horpe to it I still chuckle about it 30 years later
15.
I'd prefer clubs anyway and imo this is a high standard band. Boy girl lead vocals and three/four part harmony with good musicians. £250 is going to be difficult but might have to start with that to get everything oiled.
I think you will find that it is OTHER people's opinions on how good you are that carries the more weight most party bands have boy/girl singers, and it doesn't mean they are good. And yes, it's a buyers market so you get what they decide you get
16. please post a pic I miss my B2A that I sold in 1997
17.
So my two basses are an old Hondo II similar to a carbonita single coil humbucker (lovely neck) and an Ibenez EDC 700 with two singles in P and J positions. I want a P bass but think uncovered splits are ugly... That just me? Are they crucial to the P tone?
they ARE the P tone. Everything else on a P is the same as on a Jazz cept the nut width and extra vol pot
18.
If you are referring to two 'E' strings, you might have a 'Guitard' running off in embarrassment, but I am pretty sure a 'Proper Guitarist' will point out that they are not "tuned exactly the same !", but are tuned two octaves apart from each other. If it was any Guitarists I know, they would also point out you have wasted 36 years of your life. But, as you put it..."It's just banter", and if your post is talking about some other kind of tuning, ignore my drivel.
by 'tuned exactly the same" I just meant that they are both tuned to E. I do understand that they are not the same octave. My bad, I chose the wrong wording.
19. here's how I'd do it, apologies if I got your situation mixed up . Bass into one DI. The XLR out goes to the desk. The 1/4" output from the DI goes into an ABY box which sends the signal to the two amps.
20.
I would read the whole thread if I were you
I did, why don't YOU read the rules on trolling:)
21. It's just banter, ever hear how guitarists put us bassists down? After 36 years I finally came up with an answer back to the "you only have 4 strings to our six" "Yes, but TWO of your strings are tuned exactly the same !" only took me 36 years, pretty quick eh?
22. too late for me, been suffering since 1979 ....... WHAT? speak up just because you didn't have in ears doesn't mean you shouldn't have worn earplugs however I understand how you wouldn't normally have in ears AND normal plugs on you
23. Tom Scholz did a pretty good job on the first Boston album, very tasty bass Sir Paul was a guitard Keef played some of the better basslines on the Stones records imho
24.
That's all very well, but you just don't do that to good friends, which is how the OP has described him.
true, but the OP didn't say he was a good friend, just a good bloke. I managed a band that had seven members. One was the singers brother who played a tambourine . Another friend was on keys, he could barely play the simplest chords. The band never went far coz splitting far call between 7 members doesn't pay for strings, let alone petrol. Now that I know he is a mate of yours, you should keep playing with him, but try to convince him to take lessons, maybe if you all announced you are all taking lessons to improve he will join in? Never too old for lessons, our drummer is starting lessons. He is 65 !
25. it's almost doable to put it in the bass's control cavity..........
