  1. SUBS

there's ya answer, totally unnecessary at 90% of venues yet every sound person insists on putting all the bass through them.

I actually get earaches from subs.

Normal PA speakers can handle bass just fine, there is no need to use subs for bass.

  2. seems like the usual band dynamic at work here.

The singer is always the weakest link, if they were really good, they'd already be in a high paying gig. Crap singers is all that is left for us bands.

I've never been in a band with a great singer, always 'good enough' is the best I had.

Ever thought of starting an instrumentals band ? :)

I had my sound nailed and now it's gone

If you had "your sound nailed", why the heck did you change strings? Just go back to what you had, hardly a big deal.

  4. Managed to snag one used, $400 instead of $700.

Took it to rehearsal. No amp, just the fly rig into the PA.

wowee, firstly, it fits in my gig bag's top pocket. One thing to carry !

The comp is very useable, the tuner is a bit slow, not that great, but otherwise it's a handy mute switch hehe

The boost is very handy, with it's pre/post Sansamp switch, very well thought out.

The Sansamp section is great, like a VT or a BD with mids and a character knob.

the chorus is nice, easy to use. The filter/octaver/fuzz section is a bit hard to dial in a sound at first, it has so many variables but I got some funky tones from it.

Really well built, the DI out is quiet.

The headphone out is a bonus.

all in all a great unit that has replaced my board, for size, portability and useability.

    just get yourself one :)

  5. I hope you are learning the notes on the fretboard whilst playing Rocksmith

If I hear you saying "3rd fret red string" there will be some splainin to do hehe

don't knock the Squier VM and CV range, probably the best value for money new.

used MIM Jazz and P basses from 2010 onwards would be a good buy too
