1. hey mate, Jazz basses love nickel roundwounds imho I've used D'Addario Nickel rounds 45-105 guage for over 30 years and never had a dud string. really consistent sound from set to set. I'd recommend them, as they can handle the bass heaviness of soloing the neck pup and the brightness needed on the bridge pickup. It's a pretty good allrounder tone-wise I can get deep James Jamerson tone by using the neck pickup with the tone rolled down, and Geddy Lee or Chris Squire by turning the tone knob to max, and all points in between
I haven't got a computer
how is this possible? Oh, you have a tablet I take it ?
3. you SAY you have this cab,but I don't see no evidence
4. at least my stage fright would be gone, fear of heights would take over
5. try $750 in Australia lol The VT Deluxe is around the same price, crazy Tech21 crazy. So I bought two used VTs for $120 each so I can have two different settings lol PS how cool would it be if these were individual modules you could put together in various combinations of effects?
6. awesome stage setup ! public liability insurance anyone? we didn't worry about such things back then, and yes, they WERE the good ol days
7. I think you had false expectations of what being in a band really entails. Being in a band is about lugging big heavy black boxes into and out of your car and into and out of pubs and clubs.
8.
Strictly speaking DI means direct injection and is to allow direct input to a live or recording console. One in two out is a distribution amplifier.
ta,well then all the DI manufacturers have it wrong, because I have not seen a DI with just an XLR out in my 37 years of playing. Though I have a sneaky feeling I'm about to see one
9.
Joking mate rude of facebook
Whew,, I was hoping that's what you meant
10. Tech21 PBDDI and MXR M87 Compressor. no, Tech21 VT Bass and Bass Boost Chorus stoopid poll, I have 30 pedals and am glad I've narrowed it down to five or six. Two is ridiculous ! No offense OP, just joshing. Actually I can do without the comp......
11. your dilemma is similar to the dilemma over whether to play covers for $300 to a packed venue or play originals for free to your girlfriends and the barmaid. Art for art's sake......
12. Personally I don't hear her talent on bass. Beach Boys and Sonny and Cher songs have very pedestrian basslines ymmv That interview when she discusses how she came up with the bassline to "And the Beat Goes On" as if she wrote YYZ or Roundabout makes me lol. She may be awesome on guitar and have enormous musical knowledge, but her basslines aren't worth learning.
13. HNBD ! that is some mighty nice woodwork except it's either got 2 too many strings, or it's got too fat strings hehe
14. Hey man, I'd like to see a vid of you playing the same song now, I bet you've improved And no, you don't need to lose 5kg, you need to put about 20kg ON, doncha know bass players are fat? at least the good ones lol
15. I can't believe a musician thinks money spent on teaching music to kids is a waste
16.
I just finished up recording an album at home for a singer, I simply plugged my Precision with flats into one of our (I work for Focusrite) Clarett 2Pres and it sounded fantastic. This isn't a sales pitch at all, but just an example of getting the right instrument, strings and interface for the project you're doing, and you don't need much else. When I sent the completely un-produced stems to the mix engineer, he commented that all he needed to do was to put on a light compressor on them and it sat in the track wonderfully. Si
Glad to see a Focusrite rep on here Si I love my 2i2. So I recently started learning Reaper to record my acoustic band. For my bass I recorded myself thru both my DIs, and my Tech 21 BDDI, and my MarkBass amp's DI, then a tube pre amp. Then I bought a Senny mic to mic my cab. Unhappy with the sound I was getting. Then I just went straight into the 2i2 with my MIA P and BAM ! that's all I had to do ! Try the obvious first
17. the reason why people think that this issue affects a lot of people is because Focusrite have sold a shipload of 2i2s so it seems there are heaps affected by it but it is a small percentage of the total number of people using it. I love mine, but now need more inputs, bloody drummers !
18. +1 for Reaper no 'trial version' or 'performer edition' or "lite' crap. Download Reaper, you get the full version no annoying pop ups except when you fire it up and it asks rather politely if you've finished evaluating it. If you're happy after 60 days, buy it for the awesome price of $60 that lasts through two whole revisions.
19. yeah it does scoop the mids by design, the new Tech21 one has a mid control now I believe What you want is the Tech21 VT but they're expensive too Just get a VT pedal (not the DI) and buy a DI for fifty bucks/euros/pounds maybe? I like the VT so much I have v1 and v2 side by side on my board
20. D'Addario nickel rounds with the lowest action you can bear clank that Chris Squire would be proud of
21. without knowing your room dimensions, all I can say is that my Yamaha HS5s sound awesome in my small bedroom 'studio", yeah, let's call it a studio hehe
