  1. @Merton What amp did you use with your BF SC and how did you find it please?
  2. Lovley stuff- just bought a new BF SC myself (just the one). Will look out for yours in the for sale section!
  3. The dizzying heights of blues fame! Haha. I'll be getting too big for my boots soon and demanding freshly laundered pants and a glass of fine single-malt available before each gig
  4. Just took full advantage of this and bought myself a Super Compact with silver grill cloth and cover. Hope it's here in time for Xmas!
  5. I've recently been introduced to Meshell's music. I was blown away! Her playing is so distinctive! Talk aboutfunky, and so much space, so much attitude! I've only got into the one album so far, Plantation Lullabies, but I'm hearing a lot of people saying Peace Beyond Passion is well worth a spin too.
  6. Ah that is a shame. I'd offer to post, but I don't have any boxes or covers for this unfortunatley. Good luck with the search. Jack
  7. Hello, Here's the link to the one for sale in the ads. (Slightly biased as I'm the one selling!) It's a great cabinet, Like @Muppet it has been paired with my rumble 500 combo for larger gigs, although no more than a handful. I can't vouch for it's effectiveness on it's own in the pub environmets, but the rumble 500 has the same speaker set-up I believe and I've never had a problem being heard within my (5 piece) band. If you need any more info, let me know! Jack
  8. EDIT: SOLD OUTSIDE OF BASSCHAT - £220.00 Hi all, Time to let this one go. I initially bought this from the very kind @funkydoug in Aug.2018. It's done one gig with me since then! I bought it as an extension cab to my Fender Rumble 500 combo, but the combo is loud enough that I've only used it once in the last year. So, it's time to go. The item is based in Cirencester (GL7). I would rather not post / courrier but will consider requests. I'd much rather a buyer meet up, or potentially drive to meet half-way. It's a really great cab, and it's like new really. It does not come with a cover / case. Trades: I'd be interested in Barefaced cabs, especially the One-Ten. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any more information. Ta, Jack Specifications (From the web) below: Series: Rumble Amplifier Type: Speaker Enclosure Two - 10” Eminence® Ceramic Magnet Speakers 16ohm Horn/Tweeter: One - Compression Tweeter with Full/Off/-6dB Switch Speaker Jack: One 1/4", One Speakon Impedance: 8 ohms Power Handling: 700 watts (Program), 350 watts (Continous) Cover/Grille Cloth: Black Textured Vinyl Covering with Silver Grille Cloth Height: 23in (58.42cm) Width: 19in (48.3cm) Depth: 14in (35.56cm) Weight: 39lbs (17.7kg)
  9. Again, blatant self plug in the form of an update... The Achievers won the UK Blues Challenge in 2019! This means we'll be off to Memphis, TN to compete in the International Blues Challenge in Jan. 2020 and also Zaandam in NL in April. Thanks to @Teebs and @Raymondo who were attended in fine spirits! Great to see you Ray as always, and a pleasure to meet you in person Teebs. Cracking night of high-quality music had by all, and we're very honoured (and a little daunted) at the prospect of the responsibility of representing the UK overseas in the blues genre!
  10. Cheers :D I wouldn't wanna be a judge here- lots of top quality acts on the night who'll no doubt be chomping at the bit to give it their all. We'll do what we always do- just give it loads of gospel-inspired upbeat R&B goodness. If it goes down well and they like us- so be it. If it's too far removed from what they've looking for- then that's cool too :)
  11. Nice one Ray! Nice one Teebs! It'll be a corker of a night that's for sure. May the best band win!
  12. The 6th UK BLUES CHALLENGE - SAT. 14TH SEPT. 19 - BLUEFUNK R&B CLUB, POYNTON, CHESHIRE, SK12 1JY. The Achievers will be playing as finalists in the UK Blues Challenge this year. Link to tickets: https://www.seetickets.com/tour/2019-ukblues-challenge Other acts competing: Ash Wilson, Crossfire Blues Band, Connor Selby, and Little Triggers. " Each year, the UKBLUES FEDERATION organises a UKBLUES CHALLENGE to choose a band or artist to represent the UK at the annual INTERNATIONAL BLUES CHALLENGE organised by the Blues Foundation, held in Memphis every January and at the EUROPEAN BLUES CHALLENGE organised by the European Blues Union held each year at a different venue around Europe in March or April. " Fingers crossed!
  13. Cheers @Raymondo for your continuing support! Can't wait until the 14th :)
  14. @Teebs You certainly will mate- we'll have a fresh pressing with your name on one!
  15. @Raymondo Getting better at this self promo stuff! :D
  16. 💥 AVAILABLE NOW - ALBUM RELEASED WORLDWIDE 💥 The fruits of a co-writing brotherhood, THE LOST ARC is deliberately loose, quirky and intimate. Instantly catchy and irreverent it marks the arrival of THE ACHIEVERS as a new force in British Americana, Blues & Roots music songwriting. An unashamedly positive message of good news and truth - it is gospel for the godless and a humanist hymnal for modern times. 17. Mine when I first bought it, complete with MM Stingray :) (Before I started using the P). Love it!
  18. Thanks for the tip @hooky_lowdown. I find the vintage setting great in isolation, but I find that the darker tone you get when I use it doesn't sit well with what's going on on-stage personally. @TRBboyI doubt you will find it problematic for a normal pub gig! It's more than loud enough for me over drums, 4x vocs, 2x guitars and a harmonica! And i totally agree, everything is flat (apart from the bass) with me and my P bass- and sounds delightful!
  19. @hooky_lowdown No, I don't use any of the buttons engaged. I find that because the amp is so bass-heavy already, when I use the vintage setting I lose all definition within our on-stage mix. Jack
  20. Hi all, Hard not to like this amp. I've bought one recently (6 - 9 months ago) and I really like it. Because I was down-sizing from a SWR stack, I thought I'd get the 2x10 ext cab to go with it, but I have rarely needed this. For context, I'm playing gosepl style R&B and using a USA standard P bass. The rumble 500 has been with me on main stages all festival season and has performed admirably on it's own. It's so light too! Needless to say the rest of the band love it as it weighs next to nothing, again another positive over the SWR stack. Down-sides would find it lacks the "warmth" or "feel" of valve amps and it is REALLY bass-heavy. I find myself playing with the bass rolled off a lot, sometimes at 8/9 o'clock). But all things considered (and if you don't have a roadie) it's an excellent choice. Jack
  21. Afternoon, Here's the video for the first "single" from the first Achievers album called "No-One Remembers". Sample of what you can expect from the band at the UK Blues Challenge!
  22. Thanks for the responses- from the vid it looks like it's gonna be simply outrageous. I'm not personally acquainted with anything other than the big hits, but I think this'll be worth a go! (As long I stay away from the mosh pits...) And yes @Raymondo I'll suggest more German-inspired techno-metal riffs in the next Achievers practice! Can just imagine the response now... Haha.
